It's Sunday. I'm bored! Do you have any celebrity friends as in close enough to have them on Watsapp etc. Come on give us a clue, maybe some MNers will even be brave enough to tell us names!

OP posts:
RoseyOldCrow · 28/03/2022 19:26

I know, I know & I'm envious! Had a crush on him in 1983... Saw Marillion a few times & had an empty glass of his for a few years 😆

WouldIWasShookspeared · 28/03/2022 19:28

I know a member of Bones Park Rider. They're not really famous but they've got a good following and do well.

LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana · 28/03/2022 19:28

Laiste. Wow that's creepy. I hadn't heard of Cristie the serial killer but I've just googled him. Do you think the smell might have been because someone was buried under the floorboards? 😱

RoseyOldCrow · 28/03/2022 19:29

Oh my goodness there were two of us!

puffyisgood · 28/03/2022 19:34

not really. I suppose know my local MP, a modestly senior/well known person in the party, reasonably well. we only know each other through kids, so are in a fairly busy class WhatsApp group together, but we've never messaged bilaterally. have spoken plenty of times around school & once or twice in a pub/I think once in my house. but only as part of a bigger group, we're only acquaintances.

after that I'd be clutching at straws a bit, one person who was a contestant on 'big brother' over a decade ago, the odd person who's very modestly famous as a business expert 'talking head' type.

JaneJeffer · 28/03/2022 19:35

I’d like to say I did one for Theresa and it was a bazaar but that would be a lie

PeskyYeti · 28/03/2022 19:36

Closest I've got, as in famous but not so much a celeb is Elaine Hawkins. Who is very very lovely. We volunteer for same charity and have become friends.

Next best is I'm friends with a guy who was on trollied and actor in a few other small roles, his big break should have been in 2020 he was set to be in a film with Orlando bloom but it was postponed because of covid and now he's anti vax so film industry in general not interested in him at all now.

JaneJeffer · 28/03/2022 19:39

@Sazzasez well done Joe

SmudgeRolls · 28/03/2022 19:40

Do you get free merch?

My nephew loves bluey Grin

@GingerWit

Spaceshiphaslanded · 28/03/2022 19:42

I work with a girl who’s friends with the Queen. We have very normal jobs. I couldn’t believe it - just casual family friends. Think once upon a time her family did something with horses. Was (still is) quite surreal really 😂

SmudgeRolls · 28/03/2022 19:42

Whats the point of someone saying

‘Someone from corrie or Eastenders’
Surely the thread is actually about names? Hmm

CauliflowerBalti · 28/03/2022 19:42

Not me, but I know someone who is good friends with Rihanna and seeing her holiday photos is wild, and asking what she did at the weekend is always an exercise in making my life feel really really dull.

Lollypop701 · 28/03/2022 19:45

Sat next to Rio Ferdinand in a restaurant…when still playing for MU. I didn’t know who he was so asked my friend who he was as there was a trail of people to his table… he was lovely to everyone despite the interruptions

Jeelypieces20storeys · 28/03/2022 19:47

I cancelled Claudia winklemans parking ticket after she refused to pay it - does that count?!
Have partied many times with teenage fanclub, a friend married a minor royal and a góod friend is frequently on TV & well known in literary circles. Does that count?

WiddlinDiddling · 28/03/2022 19:48

@DameHelena

WiddlinDiddling, who said people aren't interested in what they're like? People obviously (going by this thread) want to know what they're like, lovely, horrible or in between.

Granted, the OP does then say 'friends', but we all know about frenemies Grin. And plenty of people on here seem happy to talk about slebs they know who they don't seem to think are nice/friends.

I think you missed my previous post...

You're not going to find out what they're like, as people are only going to say their friends are nice.. as I said originally.

You aren't going to say 'why yes, I am friends with Ralf Little, he's a massive shit!' are you?

(I'm not, but he isn't)

So whats the point if there isn't any juicy gossip or scandal? Half of it would be bullshit anyway and as someone else mentioned, it just ends up as DailyFail fodder.

The original post wasn't 'who have you met' anyway it was 'who are you friends with' as in, who could you talk to on the phone or on SM messaging apps.

If it's 'who have you MET' - sure, loads. Most recently Ricky Tomlinson, Vicky Entwhistle and Scarlett off of Gogglebox - and in that order, gent, rough as trousers, definitely bites in a fight and loud and bizarre.

Jeelypieces20storeys · 28/03/2022 19:48

The references to Fish reminded me.of something I heard on the radio years ago that really made.me laugh
Caller:today's my birthday
Host: congratulations! You share your birthday with Fish!
Caller: what? All fish?

I used to be friendly with Howard Donald his dad 🙈😂. I've still got several letters he wrote to me.

NeedWineNow · 28/03/2022 19:52

@Catclean

David Grohl for one - a very nice bloke indeed. I meet quite a few well known people because of what my partner does in the music world. Musicians often come to our home.
You know Dave Grohl???? Dear God I am beyond envious. Mind you he's the only bloke I said I would ever leave DH for, so probably just as well he's not in my direct orbit.

I stood on Phil Lynott's foot at a concert once - does that count?

tillytoodles1 · 28/03/2022 19:56

@LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana

I can well believe HW is a bit of a cow in RL. I've good knowledge she's into a bit of Charlie and once someone was putting it into lines,she exclaimed "Are you poor"?!?
Who's HW?
Parfait · 28/03/2022 19:58

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g

Going off at a slight tangent, I was listening to Sound of the 70s on Radio 2 yesterday and Johnnie Walker said at a recent benefit concert at the Albert Hall he and his wife were in a box with a few other people, some of whom they recognised, others they didn't. His wife heard one of the unknowns saying 'I don't think we've ever played the Albert Hall' and said to him 'Oh, are you in a band then? Would I have heard of it?' The stranger smiled and said 'U2'. Grin Turned out to be Adam Clayton, the bassist.

In the unlikely eventuality that I found myself in a similar position, that would be me. I'm hopeless at recognising people and putting a name to a face.

Similar one - Madonna was going thru her lady of the manor phase and ended up with some County folk at a supper party. Elderly friend of my mil turned to her and asked "and what do you do?". Apparently she just said she was a singer and no "I'm Madonna bitch"

@SheilaTheGr3at

Yes, I'm good friends with Fish from Marillion and we exchange messages weekly and chat

I realise most of you won't know who this is

My niece is called Kayleigh, from the marillion song. I know who he is.
