It's Sunday. I'm bored! Do you have any celebrity friends as in close enough to have them on Watsapp etc. Come on give us a clue, maybe some MNers will even be brave enough to tell us names!

OP posts:

I’ve been in a small gathering with Les Dennis. (Post Amanda Holden times). Seemed a very normal down-to-earth bloke.

wildthingsinthenight · 27/03/2022 23:40
@GoldenThready I think you’re Dawn French. If you are, can I just say how very much I loved you in Roger and Val. Your best work, in my ever so humble opinion.
Oh I agree. Roger and Val is one of my favourite ever tv shows. So funny and so heartbreaking. So downright daft. But really really clever. It doesn't get enough recognition

Fernandina · 27/03/2022 23:40

I know someone who was one of the leads in a West End musical for a while. Not a household name though.

Whiskersonkittens21 · 27/03/2022 23:42

@Scienceseeker

My next door Neighbours are social media influencers! We are friendly and chat regularly if we see eachother etc. I know of her struggles with mental health etc. I find it fascinating to watch the videos that they publish on their social media platforms and see how sunny and lovely everything seems, when in reality I know that isn’t the case. I know they don’t have to share that side of their lives, I just find it interesting to see the reality vs what they post. (They don’t know I watch their videos! E.g. I waited for her to tell me she was pregnant, even though I’d already seen it on social media the week before!) Blush
Is it Zoella? (Zoe Sugg)
Hertsgirl10 · 27/03/2022 23:45

@Scienceseeker

Is it mrs hinch?

Alwayspaintyournails · 27/03/2022 23:45
@Alwayspaintyournails how lucky are you! He is one of my favourite singers! I’ve always imagined them to be pretty down to earth as they’ve always come across that way in interviews etc
He definitely is. It probably helps that I couldn’t sing along to one of his songs if I tried. Teen DC think it’s cool though!

jamandmarmaladeoncrumpets · 27/03/2022 23:51

@TwoLeftSocksWithHoles

I saw Marty Feldman in a bar in Brighton, but I wasn't able to catch his eye...

Jo Brand went to my grammar school .

Mamanyt · 27/03/2022 23:59

The celebrities I knew were long, long before Whatsapp, and are long dead. However, decades ago, I knew Charlie Daniels, Charlie Rich, and Jim Morrison.

Timeinabottle · 27/03/2022 23:59

I also think it’s Claudia Winkleman-love her and want to be her!

I worked briefly for the person I think some may be alluding to on here. She was completely different to the way she presents herself, I was really disappointed, she was quite odd and almost scary-gave out very mean girl vibes, has an intimidating presence. I still can’t believe it’s the same person when I see her on tv

Timeinabottle · 28/03/2022 00:00

Also met Davina when I was around 18 in a show she presented, she was genuinely so lovely

Slatkater · 28/03/2022 00:08

@DancingChairs @Timeinabottle

Spill the beans! 😄

AnneSally2 · 28/03/2022 00:09

@Ifeellikedancing they have been one of mine since I was a teen, too :) ! I randomly became friends with a woman on fb who knew him/them intimately (I can't even remember why we connected now!) and we're no longer friends but I am still friends with her friends she introduced me to, and the band although I'd say I know Tony more. He's a real character and really personable/down to earth :)

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 28/03/2022 00:10

Yes. Was at the pub with him a couple of weeks ago after a mutual friend’s funeral. Would you recognise him in the street? Yes. Has he won awards? Yes. Has he been on comedy quiz shows outside of his own series? Yes. Does he have another TV series broadcasting soon? Yes. Would I tell you who he is? Nope.

I’ve picked up loads of various famous friends over the years (a misspent youth in the theatre & TV industry, my son was an actor - now director - with industry awards & international nominations, I make friends easily & just absorb people into the family). The one above I’ve known for, gosh, over 25 years.

Heck, my son’s godfather was a key part of the Harry Potter franchise & still travels the world for Harry Potter events. Bit of a sod but was son’s dad’s BFF. And his other godfather is part of the whole Doctor Who thing.

Celebrity means bugger all in my world lol.

Eggshausted · 28/03/2022 00:13

I worked for Queen, in the fan club and production offices for a number of years so know all the members of the band. Quite a few associated people as well. We would always be asked to the infamous parties held in Garden Lodge, so got to know quite a few people in the industry that way.Out of the spotlight with the paparazzi miles away they were just ordinary people who wanted to have an ordinary conversation about normal things. Now work in another sector of the entertainment industry and have constant contact with many people working in television, film, and radio. It is hard to see them as anything but normal people. The only person I was ever very slightly starstruck meeting was Julie Andrews. She has such a beautiful aura around her. So serene and sweet; almost glides across the floor.

TV show... God's Gift?
Timeinabottle · 28/03/2022 00:17

@KellsBells77 🤣I think so?! So long ago now, some friends and I were in the audience and just basically had to scream and shout and have fun. It was in Manchester and we were given booze…we saw it as a good day out. She wasn’t so famous then I don’t think, but she was so personable and caring to everyone.

Timeinabottle · 28/03/2022 00:19

@Slatkater Blonde, bubbly, sympathetic faces, caring nature…seemed totally different in real life 🤷🏻‍♀️Perhaps I met her on a bad day….supremely confident/intimidating.

What was Jim Morrison like?!

I think we all know who this is! Not surprised.

ThelmaDinkley · 28/03/2022 00:22

Another one wanting to know what Jim Morrison was like. Such a legend.

Timeinabottle · 28/03/2022 00:25

@JaneJeffer Have you met her/know her too?

Couldn’t get over the difference off camera, I still get fooled and think she’s nice when I watch tv…bonkers, I found it quite upsetting at the time!

Friendofdennis · 28/03/2022 00:27

I have met Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin Candi Staton and other singers in my job as a producer

BaffledMum22 · 28/03/2022 00:30
@BaffledMum22 he was very posh! We actually met when he was doing gigs in really small venues about a year before he started doing Mock the Week etc and he came to the venue bar afterwards and we got chatting and swapped numbers. He was a bit awkward and shy which is not what I was expecting because he comes across really confident! But yeah just generally he was really lovely.
@Easilydiscardthisone That so funny! He does seen really confident! Nice to hear that he’s lovely though 😊 l think he’s great! And he seems to love his family too which is always nice!

THEDEACON · 28/03/2022 00:37

David Tennant from childhood as his father was a colleague
