It's Sunday. I'm bored! Do you have any celebrity friends as in close enough to have them on Watsapp etc. Come on give us a clue, maybe some MNers will even be brave enough to tell us names!

OP posts:
WiddlinDiddling · 27/03/2022 23:07

As in 'can message them and get a reply'.. yes.. several.

Define celebrity though.. mine are people who have written books, some have been on TV here and/or in the US - but would EVERYONE know them, do they get invites to all the premiers.. no, I don't think so.

I don't think they'd mean anything to anyone outside the dog training world and inside the dog training world, most have also got them on their friends list!

tapdancingmum · 27/03/2022 23:08

My husband's boss was the keyboard player in Marillion.

Ohyesiam · 27/03/2022 23:08

Stewart Lee. He is just as cynical and obsessive as on stage, but not quite as intense 😁

Angryalot · 27/03/2022 23:08

I used to know an actress who told me that Andrea Corr came on to her one night.

BlueBlancmange · 27/03/2022 23:09

@GoldenThready

I've asked my husband three words to use Grin... he said "woman", "hair" and "funny". Blush
Claudia Winkleman?
MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 27/03/2022 23:09

Met Rusty Lee once; she was as loud as she used to be on tv

Grumpycatsmum · 27/03/2022 23:09

No.
But my DP knows loads and has met even more. Ones I can think of just now - Travis, Lou Reed, Jo Brand, Neneh Cherry, Frankie Boyle, John Peel. He sort of forgets and then it comes up in conversation when he remembers. Remember finding a Christmas card to him from Mel and Sue once. He hadn't even mentioned them.

Writing this I do realise Dan Stevens asked me to go clubbing with him once. Declined as I was 5 months pregnant Grin

@HorrorPudding

I’m good friends with Davina McCall. I’m not part of the celeb world and I can confirm that when the cameras are off she is genuinely lovely; very honest, very friendly, very keen to do the right thing, almost too worried about pleasing others in the nicest possible way! She’s had it pretty tough over the years but she’s a real gem even in the face of difficulty.
I know Davina from dog walking on our local common…she really is a lovely person.
WomanStanleyWoman · 27/03/2022 23:10

Friend had an affair with Ben Miller of Armstrong and Miller fame.

Another friend’s daughter goes to a very posh private school and Elton John’s son came to her birthday party. Elton sent a minion to do drop-off and pick-up, so friend didn’t get to meet him, but she has met My Partner David Furnish when doing the school run.

I slept with an actor who was in tons of big TV shows in the early 00s, but somehow didn’t take off in the way everyone expected, to the point that I can’t remember when I last saw him in anything. (I slept with him after his heyday, so I can’t be blamed for his career downturn Grin)

BlueBlancmange · 27/03/2022 23:11

@AnastasiaRomanov

Also good friends with an actor on a soap quite some time ago and his wife who was also an actress in the same soap. Lost touch now.
Steve McFadden and Lucy Benjamin?
DimAfterglow · 27/03/2022 23:13

@HallieParkerJames for some reason it won't let me quote you, Yes they are, Well, I think so!

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 27/03/2022 23:13

@GoldenThready if you are Claudia, do you really use Head&Shoulders?!!!🤣

DigsDilemma · 27/03/2022 23:19

There's a guy I work with. Perfectly nice, unassuming normal bloke. Definitely not famous. But he has a hobby which means he's good friends with a couple of huge celebs. So weird seeing their names pop up on his Facebook/ him mentioning he saw them at the weekend, and knowing that he's talking about these mega famous celebs- when he's the kind of guy who likes to amble round the allotment. Even though I also know a couple of minor celebs and know they're just people.

SiliconDioxide79 · 27/03/2022 23:20

Used to lead on a pony the daughter of footballer Gary Mabbutt when she was learning to ride. In about 1994.

Alwayspaintyournails · 27/03/2022 23:20

We are neighbours with the lead singer of a popular Scottish band. Nice fella, lovely grounded wife too. Frequently use local bars/restaurants etc and nobody seems to bother him.
Acting the big shot wouldn’t wash in our town though Smile.

AnastasiaRomanov · 27/03/2022 23:21

@BlueBlancmange
No.

Thegreatestdancer · 27/03/2022 23:22

My daughter knows Natasha Hamilton (funny, really lovely), Brian McFadden (arrogant), Ronan Keating, (lovely)

Sorryfornamechanging · 27/03/2022 23:24

Yes. I know a very famous A-List American actor, but I knew him well before he was famous so don’t think of him as a celebrity Grin endlessly comical to his friends that he’s apparently a big deal.

My old room mate was friends with Tom Hiddleston and I met him a couple of times, very charming and sweet.

I fell over Peter Andre in The Ivy once (I was there for a job interview randomly) does that count? Grin

Pointlesspolice · 27/03/2022 23:24

I know Rag n Bone man … he is a lovely,awesome guy !

Ooo please say you mean Simon Neil!?
Nelliephant1 · 27/03/2022 23:28

@SheilaTheGr3at

Yes, I'm good friends with Fish from Marillion and we exchange messages weekly and chat

I realise most of you won't know who this is

Oh I definitely know who he is in fact I introduced my son to Marillion just the other week! 😄

When I was younger and on holiday with my parents we met someone who knew him or more likely his parents. She told us that Fish was a sizeable baby and broke his pram on more than one occasion. I've no idea how true this was but I went onto have a big baby and as he got older we had to get repairs done on his pram. I thought of Fish everytime we had to get it fixed. 😄

I hope he's doing well 🤞😄

Alwayspaintyournails · 27/03/2022 23:29

Spot on @EmpressSuiko.

Nelliephant1 · 27/03/2022 23:30

@Justleaveitblankthen

Unfortunately, PPS who are being unnecessarily vague "Actor in a long running Netflix series" Hmm You are making what could be a fun and interesting thread into a pointless one.

One of my closest buddies is Melanie Chisholm from the Spice girls.

She always comes across as being absolutely lovely.
LollyPollyPop · 27/03/2022 23:34

I once told Rolf Harris to fuck off, his wife was that shocked that the beads in her hair rattled
Does that count?

EmpressSuiko · 27/03/2022 23:36

@Alwayspaintyournails how lucky are you! He is one of my favourite singers! I’ve always imagined them to be pretty down to earth as they’ve always come across that way in interviews etc
