@Silkierabbit hope the chemo isn’t too awful. I had radiotherapy so feel free to ask me about that. Was fortunate to escape chemo.

MissConductUS · 01/05/2022 21:27

Welcome, @KathieFerrars, and thanks for sharing your hound walking, page turning and Sunday lunch news. Of course, you may join in. I too like the geographic diversity of the mundane news here.

Silkie, how many weeks old will Mr. Floof be when you pick him up?

@DrBrennerFan, I'm trying not to be nosy, but do I understand that you're about to leave your husband with no notice and fly to California to meet a man you've fallen in love with? Have you ever met him face to face? Has he asked you for money to buy cannabis?

Thanks Kathie Sorry you had cancer too. I also was hoping to escape chemo but just the wrong side of the border. I did at least get a choice of chemos so I could pick my side effects but its just choosing between different poisons 😂but I went with the weekly Pax for 12 weeks which normally only has 1 bad side effect that can be permanent, neuropathy. Unfortunately I got that right from week 1 so they are having to be very careful and may need to stop and am having breaks. I love the breaks but I have had 4 weeks on, and 2 weeks off so far, third week off next week possibly a 4th week off so may take 6 months rather than 3 at this rate. I have heard radio is a lot easier just tiring and surgery is already done. Did you have breast cancer or a different cancer? Glad your treatment is over.

MissC Mr Floof will be 13 weeks exactly on 11 May, and we plan to get him on 14 May at 13.5 weeks unless chemo is cancelled or via a cannula that week when we may get him earlier if everyone can do that.

I have ordered Mr Floof a handpainted bowl with his picture painted on. The seller has just messaged me for his photo.

The senco has just been in touch to ask what work experience DS will be doing in June but atm there is nothing, he does not speak, write or use a computer and often hides from strangers. But I will see on 5 May what is happening with my chemo and if its cancelled will look if there is anything but cannot see it going well for anyone. He could be Maine Coon assistant for the week here. She said the other school senco is planning on arranging a taster day but has to talk to admissions. He could also have changed schools pre work experience week if that one works.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/05/2022 22:48

Silkie DS was allowed to do work experience with me at my employers. Which was good on the one hand, but on the other hand I saw exactly what he cannot do. Well, you know how things are.

Back to work again tomorrow and I'll get some robust geraniums for where the Moroses like to sit.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/05/2022 18:53

Now I had to google your name Smile

And me 🤣

Silkierabbit · 01/05/2022 23:08

Thanks Prok DH suggested taking DS to his work but he currently works from home and also DS is not interested in DHs work and does not want to go there. He loves the work I do but that is in London and a long commute from here and I am not working atm. Both kids came with me to work when at primary, DS was so impressed that we got free unlimited hot chocolate and biscuits he fell completely in love with my work and DD loved the big path down the middle and cartwheeled her way down it. 😂I had always wanted to cartwheel down it but too old to get away with it. Though when I said that to my manager he said go for it but nope too embarrassing.

I already a few years before had decided to jump from the top of the stairs to the bottom in one go thinking I was alone in the stairs and as I landed both my skirt split and the back and my manager appear in front of me. 😱He just said he was impressed but I have been wary of gymnastics in the office ever since.

DrBrennerFan · 02/05/2022 00:34

No husband is one on cannabis, this marriage has been dead for years my future bloke had nothing to do with the falling apart a year ago in fact years have been fed up of being broke with hubby, he’ll never change the grumpiness every Christmas birthday, weeks on end . Anyway I’ve had good news today. So I’m happy . My father in Law backs me up as well.

DrBrennerFan · 02/05/2022 00:37

Find my old messages under. Holothane that will tell you lots I’ve been end of my tether for years. Now I’m grabbing happiness.

DrBrennerFan · 02/05/2022 09:57

Hi hope everyone is well or if under going medical treatment getting help and plenty of support. Things are looking up for me they really are. Looking forward to Birmingham Thursday it’s an afternoon out on my own done Hospital appointments for years on my own nothing nasty just a fat lump in left eye socket false eye covers it they like to check it once a year.

DrBrennerFan · 02/05/2022 10:07

Found by accident a 67 episode series of programmes A place to call Home (set in Australia starts 1953) I’m hooked love it it will keep me going untill stranger things s4.

DrBrennerFan · 02/05/2022 11:42

Things are happening really fast saying more more but I’m thrilled.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/05/2022 12:45

About those cartwheels Silkie we have a long passage along our office and I always feel tempted, but I am afraid I can no longer do it. Smile
I had to take the day off sick, migraine - low level pain and high level nausea - lovely.

KathieFerrars · 02/05/2022 16:45

@Silkierabbit yes, I had BC too. Radio was fine - most of it being spent being moved around mm by mm for 90 seconds of treatment. The fatigue levels are major and unfortunately a tendency for fatigue has remained. Avenoo cream and medihoney are good. Also tumeric tea reduces inflammation.

today, we’ve been for a lovely walk and reconnected with an old friend after quite a gap. She has a bluebell wood so floofy hound was very happy running around with her doggos.
sadly, work tomorrow so already wondering if I should check emails to see what awaits…

Silkierabbit · 02/05/2022 18:12

Thanks Kathie Glad you had a nice day.

Prok I am also not sure if I could still cartwheel now I have had the node clearance operation on my arm and even if I can I am not sure its advisable. Luckily our cottage is definitely not designed for cartwheeling, uneven floors, beams on the floors so I do not feel tempted.

Changed our bedding today, back to white fleece which will probably be far too hot especially combined with my koala fleece onesie but its soft and nice. And at least whilst we all have this the heating bill is low.

DH is currently trying the carpet cleaner in the dining room. He said to me he could not get it to work and how should he fix it and get the wheels to turn. Wheels have always turned for me and I went through the basics with him but after that I don't know. It maybe needs new brushes. Just had an update from him that the brushes are now turning but its not working well and he is leaving the carpet to soak. He has a similar plan with washing up, I think his idea is it will do itself if you leave it long enough. He refuses to use a dishwasher though we can't find a carpenter to install it anyway.

IWanderedLonely · 02/05/2022 19:04

I bought a new (washable) back door mat today from Home Bargains and a lovely duck-egg blue breadbin from the charity shop. We've been in Wales; have come home to drizzle and colder temps.

IWanderedLonely · 02/05/2022 19:06

The bluebells were out.

Oh dear, why did it upload upside down?

DoctorTwo · 02/05/2022 19:28

The only time I tried to do a cartwheel was at primary school over 50 years ago. I remember tryinf to copy the other kids and describe a perfect parabola like they did but actually ended up in an undignified heap on the floor. I never dared to try again just in case the same thing occurred. It took me years to laugh about it (I was a sensitive child).

DoctorTwo · 02/05/2022 19:53

I love seeing bluebells IWandered they're lovely. On last Friday's Gardeners' World on BBC2 there was a bloke in Japan who is growing a carpet of British Bluebells, he imports the bulbs every winter and plants in the spring. They looked amazing in his otherwise very japanese garden.

Lemonsandlemonade · 02/05/2022 21:53

Hi all just checking in and catching up been away from thread. Hope everyone is doing ok?

Had a lovely day today just me and DS. Ended up having lunch out. It was a lovely place where there was no menu for children they could have small portions of pretty much anything on the menu.

Someone commented on how good he was which is nice.

My quest to be more assertive in work is ongoing and is making me anxious again.

Need to chase doctor as last Monday I rang for a telephone appointment due to handing a bad scalp again still haven’t had a phone call back.

HelenaJustina · 03/05/2022 06:29

My DSis has been offered a job on graduation with the company she did her intern year with, she is delighted and it is great to have something to go to straight away. Another DSis has qualified as a doctor and is relocating next month to start her first doctoring job. It’s been a fortnight of celebrating!

I had a night away this weekend with all five sisters and my Mum. It was absolutely brilliant, we drank and danced and laughed and laughed. They are some of my favourite people.

Back to work today, I know there are at least 3 new Covid cases but that’s 7.30am’s problem!

DrBrennerFan · 03/05/2022 13:34

Some blue bells

DrBrennerFan · 03/05/2022 13:35

Sorry says picture too big. I give up. One 0f those days I just know it.

MissConductUS · 03/05/2022 14:26

Lovely pictures, Iwandered, even if they loaded upside down somehow.

I think we're all muddling through, Lemons. I always compliment well-behaved babies when they're out, particularly at church. At the church I attended twenty years ago babies and toddlers were not always made to feel welcome, which is one reason why I'm glad we moved and started attending elsewhere.

I had a brief medical encounter yesterday. My GI's office rang last week and told me that I was due for blood work. Their office doesn't start appointments until 9:00 but I know that the nurse is in much earlier, so I asked if I could stop by at 8:00. She said of course, just knock when you get there. I turned up at 8:00, knock and called and there was no sign of life until 8:30. I got in then and in three minutes I was done with the blood draws and on my way.

Helena, congratulations to your Dsis. My DS got his job the same way, an offer from the firm he interned with. It is such a great relief for them to graduate knowing that they have a job lined up.

I've decided that it's enough into spring to put the plants out, including the ginormous aloe plant. The trees are starting to green up a bit too, which is very cheering.

Hello Kathie - it sounds as if you have a musical family there.

Dcat is now back to her usual self and sends her love.

It's tipping down here. We're having a wet Spring. Spotted some finches yesterday who must have blown in from sunnier parts, and I'm going to see if I can look them up. One pair was mostly yellow (the male anyway) and the other male was sporting a rose pink poll look. It's time to put up the hummingbird feeder in case any poor bedraggled hummingbirds have made it this far north. If they're smart they'll hold off until the weather turns more summery.

DS has a birthday today but he's too busy to celebrate, thank goodness, as DD3 keeps on sending me final papers for proofreading and roping me in as a study buddy for her Psych final, which is on Wednesday. We'll have a cake next Saturday and hopefully there'll be some left for Sunday.

My Christmas cactus, which I've had for at least ten years without as much as a single bud, has developed one blossom. I feel a minor miracle has occurred.

Nice to hear good job news, Helena. DD3 has decided to go to grad school for public health, but the application circus for that won't start until next Winter.

Silkies hats off yet again for dealing so calmly with all you have on your plate.
