Sprout, that is indeed a Canada Goose. You can tell by the white patch on its cheek. They can be aggressive, so we try not to bother them.

It’s early for your campanula to be flowering, Prok! My tortoise would be on it like a shot. He loves campanula flowers, they’re his favourite food 😋

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/04/2022 06:10

Hilda The campanula (Glockenblume) is not really "outside" outside. We have a kind of shelter for protection against the weather and against Mr. Morose.I caught him nibbling my plants.

Makiwa · 25/04/2022 07:46

Hello <waves> I've been MIA these past few days/weeks. Covid then house prep for guests and then guests have meant less time on the internet. Lovely to see all your pictures and day to day chat.

Guests are still about for the week and it's great to catch up with them. Weather has been kind to us so we've spent a lot of time going for walks with drinks on a terrace as a reward.

Elections over with now. I proudly voted twice as voted by procuration for DD1 who is currently in Ghana. Relieved with the result .

sueelleker · 25/04/2022 08:37

This is a lovely recipe using mincemeat. My husband and my colleagues loved it. www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/christmas-white-chocolate-traybake

Silkierabbit · 25/04/2022 09:26

Welcome back Makiwa Glad you have recovered from covid and are enjoying the better weather. DH is also relieved with the election result.

Hope your medical things go Ok today MissC

DS did not wake up until 8am but then went to school OK, DD went late and said she was blaming me as I went into the bathroom for 5 minutes but at least she has gone to school. Her French speaking mock is tomorrow and French real thing on Wednesday then 33 exams, yikes, from 16 May to 27 June. She has an event at the maths school on Friday as well. Need to also try and change DSs school here.

Am currently in talks with hospital about way forward re chemo / picc etc but it finally is getting through to an oncologist which is better as they are the experts but very hard to get hold of. Last time I spoke they were talking of stopping chemo early due to severe neuropathy but need to know what the latest is and whether there is any benefit to doing half rather than a third which would need a PICC or whether just call it quits now. I am also trying to find out if you get a blood clot from a PICC is months of injections the only option, nurse seemed to think yes but is checking.

I asked DH if he had started to clear under the stairs, I thought he had not, but he said not only had he started but that almost all of it was rubbish (um yes rubbish which I said before to bin and not store under stairs Grin) and throwing it away is amazing Shock and we still have some black bin left. Its like someone swapped DH, he never throws things out, he re-piles them somewhere else about once a year but never throws things out. Still have to set up around my chair but less urgent now this morning's one is cancelled and awaiting to see if 12pm one is cancelled too.

The frozen peas do seem to have worked but only saved the hair directly under them.

MissConductUS · 25/04/2022 15:38

Lovely to see you @Makiwa . There's a great deal of relief on this side of the pond too.

I've had my first appointment of the day. It was for the IV infusion I get every 8 weeks. I know the nurses pretty well at this point.

My rheumatologist appointment isn't until 4:00 PM, so I'm home without much to do. I'm going to bake brownies and freeze them, then take them in as a present for the staff at my prosthodontist's office when I go in to get my implant crown put on. The missing tooth is quite visible, so it will be a relief to get it done and thankfully it will just a few days before DS's uni graduation.

I haven't made brownies in ages, so I have to actually consult the recipe.

I've now downloaded the Wunderground app, and thank you MissC. The air quality and allergen info is much more comprehensive than my local weather app.

My Dcat is a Siberian who came into our lives very randomly via a classmate of DD2's. DD2 let it be known in school that we were looking for a replacement for our previous dear old cat whose ashes are in a little pot on the mantel. Lo and behold, at the end of summer, DD got a text from this girl to say her family were staying with friends in the next state to the north and the friends' cat had kittens they needed to find homes for, and would we like one. Of course we said yes, and she pranced into our lives. However, she's definitely a Siberian, and nobody just gives them away, so the events of her early life that resulted in her becoming part of the family are a bit of a mystery.

MissConductUS · 25/04/2022 18:28

I'm glad you find it useful, Math. it's the only forecasting platform that I know of that includes observations from thousands of amateur weather stations, like my own, in its modeling. It works worldwide, for any in the UK who want to give it a try.

London, England, United Kingdom Weather Conditions
57 CHARING CROSS STATION]]

You can use the gear icon in the top right to toggle the temperature from F to C. It may default to C if you're in the UK.

The brownies are out of the oven and cooled sufficiently to put in the fridge. These Death by Chocolate treats are so moist they have to be cold to cut them. The recipe is very simple and requires three cups of chocolate chips, butter flour, two eggs and sugar. Available upon request of course. 😊I also have a brilliant trick for lining the pan neatly with aluminum foil.

I'm brushing up on current arthritis standards of care and treatments ahead of my appointment.

I went to the post office and stepped out of the (ridiculously long line) to see if there was a drop box. There wasn't. Man behind me let me have my space back.

Got my first period after tubes clipped.

Ate all my veggies at lunch time.

Silkierabbit · 25/04/2022 19:46

That's good you got a free Siberian cat Math

Todays appointment for picc and chemo and next weeks chemo have been cancelled and I have to speak with oncologist on 5 May, no-one available before then. Not ideal but they are crazily busy there.. Not sure if all my chemos will be cancelled or they are delaying. I did manage to speak with a Macmillan nurse not connected with the hospital and find out a bit from her though I really need to know what my hospital do. I was told to relax whilst waiting.

So I have been looking into Maine Coons some more and found 2 lovely tabby boys that are available, £1500 for one, yikes. DH has now decided he prefers girls. I just looked up how large the boys can get 40 inches plus the tail, its a lot of cat. One is available in 2 weeks. Though there is one with blue eyes available later and DH now seems to have added blue eyes to his list. I think he prefers it smaller too but its only smaller as its younger. I showed him a full size one though he seemed quite impressed then. He has just had piano lesson.

DD was asking about my chemo, it started off fine but she added in if you have a port and get an infection you will die everyone does which seemed caring then if you get sepsis why would I be bothered. Nice, she has gcse exams starting on Wednesday.

Just had spaghetti bolognese and now having meringues with cream.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/04/2022 21:22

On my way home from work I happened to look in at the little café at the corner and heard a piece of 'Oma's Käsekuchen' (meaning the basic traditional variety) calling for me. So I had to go in and then the last piece left from a "White chocolate cheese cake" looked so lonely. So I bought that, too.

MissConductUS · 25/04/2022 23:12

Welcome, @G3m, and thanks for sharing your queuing, medical and veggie news.

The rheumatologist was very nice, and thinks I probably have a herniated disc, not arthritis. He's requested that my insurance approve an MRI so that we can find our for sure.

White chocolate cheesecake sounds lovely Prok

DD asked me before why I had DH phone and I said pictures and she said that will be cats again. I sent her a MC picture no reply then later are we getting another cat? I said maybe and sent her more MC pics, then get a reply we should get two. Grin That has already been vetoed by DH.

Silkierabbit · 26/04/2022 08:38

DH announced very proudly that he has completely filled the black bin apart from some very tiny holes and put it out. I am also very proud of this achievement he has made.

We are undecided between three cats now. I am amazed that DH actually chose 1 though he only likes it in 1 out of 2 photos. He said cat shopping is like when he goes clothes shopping and he spends 4 hours and comes back with nothing as his list of requirements (and price) were not compatible. He always tells me I am lucky I was chosen as he is very fussy. 😂My favourite is the male tabby MC, DH wants a tortie tabby MC, DD wants the tortie tabby MC and a tabby female MC. DH said he is certain we are not getting two. The tabby female is not ready yet for a month or so. DH is concerned the male one will be too big and he may have a point though DS would chose the biggest.

Deathraystare · 26/04/2022 09:22

Yesterday got hair done and then cafe and then Specsavers to pick up my glasses. As I pass a friends flat, I decided to pop in. Got on the bus to go home. Got off and realised I had not had my backpack with me!

I hoped it was with my friend but panicked in case I had left it elsewhere as that meant - the shops were now shut. My keys were in that bag along with my purse! I did not have my phone on me so could not ring either. I got on a packed bus (along with workers coming home and school kids) back to my friend's place to be greeted at her door with the bag. Phew! Otherwise, today I would have had to sleep at hers with no change of clothes or personal stuff. Walk to work and back again. Somehow walk to West Ealing to collect bag from Specsavers! I don't normally keep my keys in the bag in case I get mugged but I had taken them out of my pocket while sorting out change for a tip for the hairdresser.

Talk about relief!!!!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 26/04/2022 17:58

I had a Boden catalogue in the post (I must have clicked on a link). They tell my it is the best of British fashion - and I very much hope it is not.

One tomato plant has been adopted to a good home.

Silkie I think we need cat fotos to help you decide Grin

Silkierabbit · 26/04/2022 18:19

A cat decision has been made and we are getting the male MC. The lady selling him was really helpful and kind, the one selling the other two was making things difficult which I was happy about as this one was my preferred one.

DD is so happy, and she changed her mind to this one, when she saw the Dad with another kitten, Mum is a silver tabby, DS also likes the biggest and fluffiest so it was only DH and his size objection as its exactly the appearance DH likes but he was giggling and smiling when he was saying about it and told me I should choose the one I prefer and that he can't help pay for buying it as he has spent too much this month. I think he wants this one but not to pay for it, I am happy to buy him. DH was also moaning Silkiecat cost him £80 a month then I looked at him and I could see he felt very guilty for saying that. He is not short of money, he just hates parting with it. We get him on 14th May and DD will go to, its 2 days before her exams start and she is really happy to have a pre-exams cat. DD is going to name him I have provisionally named him Mr Floof but DD will add a middle name she said but she said we can keep Mr Floof as his surname. She said that it is not possible for cats to be too big and is telling all her friends. She had her French speaking mock today, real thing tomorrow.

DH is going to get Silkiecat's ashes at 7pm Sad but he seems happy to be having a new cat coming, he is just scared of it jumping on him. I have booked DS a hair cut for Thursday after school. We are having fish pie and veg for dinner.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 26/04/2022 18:48

Silkie The right decision, of course.

DS has recieved the "Einbringpunkte" - more than expected, which is good. On Friday he will sit English. It is also the day he will be home alone, because the rest of us will leave at 4 am for the funeral of DMil. I hope he gets up in time.

Silkierabbit · 26/04/2022 18:58

💐Prok for Friday and hope your DSs exam goes OK, well done on other one.

Silkierabbit · 26/04/2022 23:16

DDs friends are currently being asked to vote on her name ideas for Mr Floof. She says getting Mr Floof will help her revise for GCSEs.

DH collected Silkiecat's ashes and put her in the back garden.

Champagneforeveryone · 27/04/2022 12:12

That's a lot of cat silkie 😀

DM has made it down for the first time in 5 months, Covid, storms and train cancellations having put paid to previous attempts. It is 12.10 in the UK and we still haven't left the house. We are currently on cup of tea number 6 with no signs of movement.

Silkierabbit · 27/04/2022 12:52

I think he will be huge Champagne DH went from wanting a girl to saying he would have a small boy one but looking at him and his Dad I couldn't really argue he will be a small boy Grin DD was the opposite, she changed to wanting that MC when she saw how large the Dad was. I did persuade DH of the price with per inch of pet its not that expensive. DH now seems very excited as well.

I am getting name suggestions by e-mail from DD that her friend are suggesting now. DD did say if we got him she would revise more for GCSEs, not convinced by that and I suspect half y11 of her school will now be distracted by him but at least will keep them happy and relaxed which is the main thing. He arrives on the Saturday and her exams start from the Monday. I do wonder if he will be catnapped to DDs room to some Instagram teenage thing. Maybe when she gets her at home gym she is planning they can do it together.

Plumber should be coming shortly. The silkie has told DH off and he is saying to her oh my poor poppet your Papa is coming with more food. He knows the way to the silkie's heart.

Just had avocado and prawns for lunch and 2 Fox chocolate biscuits.

Silkierabbit · 27/04/2022 13:04

The plumber was in and out in a few minutes said all will be fine and spoke French to DH and said to rabbit you appear to be living your best life rabbit so presumably rabbit was stretched out on the sofa watching TV again.

halfpasteleven · 27/04/2022 13:39

Hope you get approval soon for your MRI Miss.

Silkie, sounds like you have a busy house today! I'm looking forward already to hearing how new cat settles in with Silkie and rabbit.

Haven't been on in ages as DP broke his leg, he is helpless though not quite at "dressing gown of doom" - stage thankfully, so all jobs are falling to me.
