Is anyone starting a diet today?

Just looking for company.
I’m sick of my extra weight and want to get rid of it now. I’m trying to do intermittent fasting along with protein and veg mostly and cut out sugar except for the very occasional treat.
I’m also planning on going for a 20 minute walk and 10 min weights daily. It’s about all I can manage at the moment but I hope it will make a difference.

Yes I am. List weight in first lockdown but have put most of it back on. Short break in 6 weeks and son’s graduation in July so need to motivate myself.
Thought I’d try 5,2. Haven’t done it before. Aiming for around 700 calories Tuesday and Thursday.
Happy to have company as may give me accountability.
Need to lose 1.5 stones.

Els1e · 21/03/2022 08:23

I’ll join you. I’m size 18 and need to lose at least 2 stone. Apart from stretchy joggers, I am struggling to fit into anything. Walking is a good idea. I’ve started a pilates class. For me, I was going to start with no extra sugar and no crisps.

DepthOfTheAbyss · 21/03/2022 08:31

Great to have company. I really struggle to diet so will have some accountability here. I haven’t weighed myself but I know my clothes are getting a bit tight and I need to be 2 clothes sizes down really.
I also need to drink more water. Always forget and I think I’m one of those people who confuses thirst with hunger Hmm
Good luck for today Smile

Me! I lost loads of weight last year and put it all back on…. Starting again today.

Bringonthebloodydrama · 21/03/2022 08:55

Me. Did dry Jan and lost a few lb and it's just gone straight back on. Am around a (large) 14 and want to get to a 12. It's all on my stomach and hips.

I'm doing 18:6 fasting...so ate out last night (!) finished at 8pm and will have my first food at midday. Then stop at 8pm again. Will be vaguely careful in those 8 hours, but generally eat normally. Mint tea and ginger cordial instead of wine during the week. Then Thursday - Sat relax a bit more.

I downloaded some hormonal workout recently - anyone heard of it? It's supposed to release 3 key hormones that help support weight loss. Probably bullshit but worth a try. you do 18 mins 3x a week which is, for me, achievable (work f/t, 3 kids etc)

HerbErtlinger · 21/03/2022 08:58

I am. I have a mountain to climb but focusing on one stone at a time. Calorie counting with My Fitness Pal

lovelydaffodils · 21/03/2022 11:05

I may do 5:2 rather than 16:8
I am

PositiveLife · 21/03/2022 11:16

Me. I'm struggling to lose weight despite doing a fair bit of exercise. I think it's mostly down to desk job and stress. I'm forever eating crap because stress makes me feel to tired to cook/eat properly.
Ideally I'd lose 3 stone but I'll focus on one stone at a time.
Mostly planning to cut out crap and must remember to up my protein

JuteWeaver · 21/03/2022 11:23

I started 3 weeks ago. It'd be lovely to have 'company.'

I'm trying by cutting calories and cutting out sugar as far as possible. I've also stopped eating in between meals. I've managed to lose 8lbs so far. I've been wearing size 18/20 clothes and want to be back to my more usual size 16 as I'm going to a wedding in July and want to feel fabulous.

Universe1969 · 21/03/2022 11:26

Me too. Downloaded the nhs app which looks easy and a good guide. I am 6ft and need to lose 2.5 stone. I do a lot of sport but wfh isn’t helping.

Lobworm · 21/03/2022 13:34

Do you have a link to the hormonal exercise?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/03/2022 13:37

Can I join you? The only thing is I won't be starting until tomorrow as we don't have an oven and will be having yet another takeaway tonight (the oven arrives this afternoon so should be in place for tomorrow's dinner)!

I'm probably going to do 'old' WW Pro Points as it worked for me in the past.

Fatgalslim · 21/03/2022 13:42

I'm back to WW tonight after a month off plan due to holiday/partner visiting and a 4lb gain which wasn't bad when you look at what I ate. I actually went back last week so this past week is my first back on plan, looking at my scales I've got that 4lbs off at least so I'm happy with that.

Luckily I've only got half stone (including the 4lbs above) to lose to get back to goal but I've lost quite a few stone to get here

BogRollBOGOF · 21/03/2022 13:42

Kind of.
I'd lost my lockdown lard by new year, but a running injury has put it back on.
I naturally crave carbs in the winter and find it easier to make healthier choices in warmer weather.
I'm away for a long weekend so not concerned making a full start, but before I go away, I'm trying to make some more mindful choices in the next few days.
More water
Reduce sugar/ starchy carbs
More veg

MoodySky · 21/03/2022 13:49

I'd planned to start exercising and eating healthily from today - bought properly-fitted trainers and everything ...

And now I've been floored by Covid. Would love to join you but think I'll have to wait another week.

Best of luck to all.

Bringonthebloodydrama · 21/03/2022 15:45

Ah yes I meant 16:8 - you can see I'm not used to the terminology :)

The hormonal workout is this one. I'd be keen to hear if it works for anyone else as I'm not good at following workouts!

2me2u2u2me · 21/03/2022 15:53

I'm in. I started yesterday so on day two. I lost a stone in January but then went on holiday in Feb and not been able to get back on plan since so it's gone back on, I'd like to lose 2/3 stone. We're going away in June so that's my aim though I've a few things booked before then so have to come off for a day here and a day there.

I'm doing the Cambridge 1:1 diet and a peloton class for 20 mins a day.

Hadenoughofbloodycovid · 21/03/2022 16:55

Me! I’ve piled the weight on since I retired 3 years ago. I’m now 64 and the heaviest I’ve been in my entire life including pregnancy!
Ideally I would like to lose at least 2 stone preferably 3 (fingers crossed). I’m planning on calorie counting and cutting out snacks and wine.
I’m also going to do a lot of walking and get back into yoga.

CannaBelieve · 21/03/2022 17:00

I'm starting today to try and cut carbs a bit. Need to lose 5 stone, I'm size 18 too

I'm on week 2 of saxenda weight loss injection as well. Just upped the dosage so I feel zero hunger and have to force myself to eat, but I still choose carbs!

SartresSoul · 21/03/2022 17:01

Started on 3rd of January and have lost 2 stone 1 lb so far, 1 stone 10 lbs till I hit goal weight. On my final week of couch to 5k so running 3x a week, I do a 30 min HIIT video 3x a week and a 30 min Pilates video 2x a week. Also make sure I walk 14k steps minimum a day and I log all of my food with my fitness pal. Tend to eat around 1500 calories a day.

Feeling really good tbh. Started the year very overweight, hated the way I looked, extremely unfit and Fitbit said I had poor heart health. My resting heart rate was also around 86 at the start of the year, it’s now 60. Heart health is now average for my age.

I’ve pretty much cut junk food out entirely. Have homemade cake and custard once a week on weigh day as a treat but that’s about it. I recommend couch to 5k, my fitness pal and also getting a Fitbit.

Fatgalslim · 21/03/2022 20:45

Well, back from my WW meeting and I've lost 4lbs this week, happy with that

dementedma · 21/03/2022 20:56

Yup. Size 18 and should be a 14. Heaviest I've ever been and hate it. Am limited exercise wise by fibromyalgia so will have to focus on eating less.

LouLou198 · 21/03/2022 21:04

Me! I've got 2 1/2 stone to lose. I am 40 early next year, I am determined not to be overweight for my 40th!!

Cuphalffullor · 21/03/2022 22:16

Made it to end of day 1 without giving in and snacking and deciding to start again tomorrow! Think I only did it because I’d posted here! Roll on day 2! Although that’s one of my low cal days on 5:2 so will be tougher.

Cuphalffullor · 21/03/2022 22:17

@Fatgalslim

Well, back from my WW meeting and I've lost 4lbs this week, happy with that
Well done!
