How often do you wash your car

Mine was brand new on 1 July and it's just occurred to me I've never washed it Grin

I don't think it looks that bad and every time I think about doing it the weather forecast is such that it seem pointless.

Is 9 months an exceptionally long time to go without washing your car?

It doesn't do a lot of miles but it is used daily and lives outdoors.

3 times in 13 years

freshcarnation · 16/03/2022 17:45

About every two weeks, or as often as my grandson asks to go through the car wash

Infinitemoon · 16/03/2022 18:24

I am amazed at you all. I think the paintwork get damaged quite quickly if tree sap, bird poo gets on it. I try to wash the car every week or two but sometimes it ends up being every month if I'm busy. The inside is another story! Grin

Once a week in winter because they put road salt out for snow and it splashes all over the car including underneath. I go to a quick $5 drive through place near me.

I get it washed and waxed in April and then don't bother much with washing over the summer. Maybe once a month until December.

Honestly I have had many cars, rarely washed them and they’ve never had visible signs of paint damage 🤷🏻‍♀️
caringcarer · 16/03/2022 18:35

Once every 3 months. I sometimes pay DS, 15 to do it in summer if he wants extra cash.

Roselilly36 · 16/03/2022 18:39

We don’t, it’s washed when it’s serviced though 😂

Flowersandwine12 · 16/03/2022 18:39

I live on a farm and mine gets done varying amounts at different times of year. Lately its been done weekly as its be so mucky. From April it'll get done less frequently until the late summer when all the harvesters and other machinery are constantly passing and there's a constant dust in the air

RussianSpy101 · 16/03/2022 18:40

I take mine to be washed every Friday.

9 months is mad to me!!

drpet49 · 16/03/2022 18:41

Monthly inside and out. I can’t stand dirty cars

RussianSpy101 · 16/03/2022 18:42

I’m genuinely shocked at the replies on here! I have never known of anyone who doesn’t wash their car at least once a month!

MrsTimRiggins · 16/03/2022 18:44

For funerals and weddings. DH always does it the night before.

It’s not been done in a while, seems pointless on a farm tbh, but is about to be super clean for the next three months judging by the calendar!

CMOTDibbler · 16/03/2022 18:49

Once every 3 or 4 months, swish down the lights/plates more often if it needs it. Its my pride and joy, but I have no interest in washing it apart from driving through fords a bit quicker to splash clean.

rumred · 16/03/2022 19:01

Once a year. And it looks lovely and shiny still...

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 16/03/2022 19:08

Pretty much never outside as I live rurally, but inside every week or two.

MrsDThomas · 16/03/2022 19:10

Monthly. I give my son £5 on a boring afternoon

ShavingTheBadger · 16/03/2022 19:14

Probably three or four times a year. Having said that I swerved off the road and into a fire station pretty sharpish on Sunday when I saw the local firefighters were doing a car wash to raise money for Ukraine Grin. Well you would, wouldn’t you?

furballfun · 16/03/2022 19:25

Ours used to get washed once a year when it went for a service. Then its warranty expired which meant we could use our local garage who are both cheaper and a lot more competent, so the car works nicely, but doesn't get washed. It lives under a tree, which means it really isn't clean, but it is much easier to spot in a car park!

I did make an exception when we were taking bridesmaids to a wedding - I paid to have it washed then.

Shesellsseashellsontheseashore · 16/03/2022 19:36

Not as much as I want to. But I'm getting a brand new one soon so I'm making sure this one looks it's best for the trade in and I will keep the new one looked after.
I actually like washing the car. I love using the jetwash, it gives me great satisfaction especially on the wheel arches and alloysGrin

Evoll671 · 16/03/2022 19:41

I've had mine 15 months and not yet washed it. It's filthy and desperately needs doing but can't really be bothered getting round to it

I'm genuinely shocked that you know the car washing habits of everyone you know GrinGrin

(No offence meant, I just don't even know how often my live-in DP washes his car, never mind anyone else in my life).

I have literally no idea how often my friends and family wash their cars, is it something you discuss? I suspect they do it as infrequently as I do though!
FlibbertyGibbitt · 16/03/2022 19:50

Had a fiesta for 10 years, washed it maybe once a year. New car , had since last January ‘21 , had it done twice I think. It’s black so a great colour to not to have to do. I’d take it to the hand car washes now. I can’t be arsed.

SickAndTiredAgain · 16/03/2022 19:53

My car is 3.5 years old and I’ve never washed it.

The inside is clean, and I really do not care in the slightest about the outside being gleaming. It gets washed in the rain.
