Just having moan really. Lighter butter, lighter philedelphia, lighter cheese, non of them taste anywhere near as good as the original. I also cannot bear the taste if sweetener in drinks. Currently trying to lose a bit of weight and I am doinh OK but really missing an indulgent treat.

I prefer Diet Coke.

magicstars · 15/03/2022 10:33

Oh & the low calorie jelly pots.

doradoo · 15/03/2022 10:34

Tonic! Less sweet and you can taste the gin more.

MrsGHarrison87 · 15/03/2022 10:34

Same with diet Coke. I prefer all diet versions of pop and fruit squash as the surgery versions don't quench my thirst. I prefer low fat mince to the full fat.

WeAllHaveWings · 15/03/2022 10:36

Agree with diet coke and 10CAL jelly pots are good. Diet coke actually tastes better than the original full sugar one.

Also Heinz Ketchup low salt/sugar is good.

WeAllHaveWings · 15/03/2022 10:36

Fanta Zero is good too

PierresPotato · 15/03/2022 10:38

Imo no.
I do like some things in their own right like frozen yoghurt. Crème fraiche (though is that in any way lower fat?)

Imtoooldforallthis · 15/03/2022 10:39

You see I disagree, occasionally someone buys me a gin with slimline and even when I'm not expecting it I can taste it a within a sip. Same with diet coke it has an awful sacherine taste. Obviously not everyone agrees.

I think when going for a treat just go better and smaller iyswim.

Imtoooldforallthis · 15/03/2022 10:40

I agree with the mince but woukd argue that is higher quality over lower fat.

I prefer diet coke to any other fizzy drink. But if you want to eat something nice then just eat a small bit of something real, not low fat, sweetener and sugar filled processed junk.

PierresPotato · 15/03/2022 10:42

I like a sparkling water but not a slimline tonic. I like spicy herbal tea but not a normal black tea or coffee. I like a sharp fruit desert or very appley dessert with just a bit of full fat cream with it but not a slice of low fat cheesecake.

ScrambledSmegs · 15/03/2022 10:50

Belvoir lighter Sparkling Elderflower. It doesn't contain sweetener, just less sugar and I prefer it to the original. My kids don't like it as much though as they are sugar fiends.

'Slimline' stuff where they've replaced the sugar and/or fats with minging chemicals is just vile though.

Plutoisaplanet · 15/03/2022 10:52

I won’t drink full fat coke but am happy to have Diet Coke. However, I can’t stand any other diet drink

tabulahrasa · 15/03/2022 10:54

I prefer Pepsi Max to either normal Pepsi or Coke, but Diet Coke tastes horrible.

I prefer skimmed milk over other ones.

That’s about it really.

Cryingbutstilltrying · 15/03/2022 11:02

Pepsi Max tastes nicer than Diet Coke, but either are better than the regular varieties.
Heinz ketchup reduced sugar/salt is also nicer. The original one tastes just so salty to me now.
I also don’t like full fat yoghurt but 0% Greek is ok.
I think that might be it.

QuizzicalEyebrows · 15/03/2022 11:03

Pepsi Max is the nicest of the fizzy diet colas by far

Imtoooldforallthis · 15/03/2022 11:10

The Belvoir elderflower drink sounds nice, the coke think doesn't bother me as I don't drink it, it's either water or alcohol for me. I agree with smaller quantity over sugar free alternatives except small portion does not equal indulgent to me. (you can see why I'm carry a bit of extra weight!!!)

Oh and I don't have a really sweet tooth so that help. It's just my idea of indulgent it toasted crumpet, lurpak and full fat philedelphia x 2. Not a scrape of butter and super light cream cheese. I'm well aware I can't eat this if I want to lose weight I'm just six months in and would love to find some genuine super low calorie treats that are not a poor imitation of the original higher calorie versions.

Apart from fatty meat, no everything tastes awful. Like a shadow of its former self. Apart from bacon fried to a total crisp and all the fat runs out, but thats my reale vice.

afaloren · 15/03/2022 11:40

I don’t like Diet Coke but I do like Coke Zero. I also prefer low fat high protein yoghurts. Not diet exactly, but the ones made from quark and fruit.

bigbluebus · 15/03/2022 12:07

It's a no from me. Nor are the 'slimline' versions healthier. They're usually full of 'crap' chemicals. Just eat smaller portions of the real stuff and only have sweet things as the occasional treat rather than daily.

Imtoooldforallthis · 15/03/2022 12:16

I think I knew smaller portions was the only answer. Although I've just remembered something I do like which is air fryer sprouts. Microwave brussel stouts for 3-4 minutes, flatten with a glass season with salt pepper and garlic granules, spray with fry light and air fryer until crispy round the edges. Chick peascslso nice in the air fryer.

It's not actually better for you to eat 'light' cheese etc. The healthy fats in them are what's good for us, there are many studies showing that if you're going to eat dairy, full fat dairy is what's healthy and you should avoid low fat.
Have you tried Chocologic chocolate, or Guylian no added sugar chocolate? They're lower in carbs as they don't have sugar, they're sweetened by stevia and erythritol which don't have calories, carbs or raise your blood sugar (some people have digestive issues from erythritol though). They taste like normal chocolate!
