Dd2 is sitting on the sofa completing the QR code feedback survey from the attraction we were at today.
She always wants to rate the cleanliness of toilets or the service in a shop.
Just why????

My DSD has had a profound love of eat well for less on the telly since she was 11. Mysterious

2tired2bewitty · 12/03/2022 18:02

DH is a vicar, dd1 (12) is always very keen to help with moving chairs and serving tea and coffee, which is quite handy! DS (6) likes to run the big broom around at the end of services.

Looking at the model kitchens in hardware shops eg B & Q, looking in the drawers and cupboards.

DS - clean the car, both inside and out ("I need more spray !!" every five seconds).

DS and DD2 - input numbers onto a spreadsheet on DH laptop.

DD1 - laundry

Pegasussnail · 12/03/2022 18:07

Turning toilet rolls and cornflakes into people / gonks/ homes.

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 12/03/2022 18:17

You guys have well trained children who like doing useful things.
I'd love cleaning the car or laundry. I occasionally get using the steam cleaner.

My just turning 9yo likes hoovering.
10yo likes popping to the shop for us.

My DS is only 2.5 and so is in more of that phase when they're are inexplicably obsessed with a certain item. At the moment, it's his new toothbrush. He insisted on taking it to nursery yesterday and wouldn't go to sleep last night without it in his hand. Needless to say, he hates brushing his teeth.

Comedycook · 12/03/2022 18:24

Using the supermarket self checkout

TheWayTheLightFalls · 12/03/2022 18:25

The four year old does a good line in choosing and fetching outfits for her younger siblings, and is quite good at plant and bird ID after many happy hours in the garden with our neighbour.

Piemam · 12/03/2022 18:26

@Drywhitefruitycidergin, She sounds delightful and will no doubt be a productive member of society!

DS1 is an adult now, but as a young child he liked to design airports. He would sit for hours with a pencil and ruler drawing plans. We got him a little drafting/drawing tablet thing and he loved it. I thought he might become an architect but he is a scientist instead,

BOOTS52 · 12/03/2022 18:41

My son is older now but when he was younger like 7 or so he used to always make lots of lego and move them and film them and then show me the little films he had made. He was always making his own designs with toys. He now writes and produces his own music and self thought himself in all the engineering process of it. He is also big into film and going to college to do that.

VampireMoney · 12/03/2022 18:45

DD1 was massively into writing shopping lists from about 7 onwards. She also liked to write down the ISBN number of every book she got in a little notepad. She's 22 now and she still loves a good shopping list!

DS loved organising the DVDs in the cabinet, he'd get them all sorted into alphabetical order. He's 19 now and the messiest most disorganised teen ever 😂

DD2 is 11. Her current 'fun' thing is reorganising the kitchen cupboards. Can't decide if she's bored or just thinks I keep a messy kitchen!

Serving cake/drinks and washing up at events. Show the boy a village hall and he's straight in the kitchen. Tomorrow we'll have to be up at 6 as organisers of a cycling race and he's doing the refreshments on his own, but went out to buy a new pair of marigolds for the occasion. He's 15, and has to be nagged to do the dishwasher at home, but volunteered to do this

elliejjtiny · 12/03/2022 19:05

7 year-old loves babies. He will just stare at them, fascinated and say "look mummy it's a baby" in a hushed whisper. He loves it when he has 2 cuddly toys the same animal but different sizes so they can be a family.

8 year-old loves lists and those ads for cleaning products where you give something a quick wipe and it's sparkling clean. Whenever I am scrubbing anything he likes to come over and say "mummy you really should use flash/a steam mop/whatever he has seen advertised".

Choice4567 · 12/03/2022 19:10

DD9 is obsessed with the cleaning glass! She loves the spray. Will clean all the windows/TV/cabinet fronts as often as I’ll let her

ElliotGoss · 12/03/2022 19:21

DD is obsessed with helping me do the washing. She loved putting all the various liquids and beads into the machine.

ReeseWitherfork · 12/03/2022 19:25

As a kid I'd always line up all the items on the supermarket shelf, all neatly with the labels facing out. Drove mum bonkers with how long it took me to happily move on to the next aisle.

Zero interest in doing that to my kitchen cupboards now.

onlyfortonight · 12/03/2022 19:27

DD1 gets regular nose bleeds in hay fever season - some are corkers and they are all really disruptive. I’ve offered a thousand times to get the bleed site cauterised but she refuses…she loves how it feels! Complete weirdo Grin

birthdaywanker · 12/03/2022 19:29

These are so funny and cute! My 9 month old is currently obsessed with taking all the items out of the laundry basket one by one, making a new pile, and then moving the items from that pile to a different area of the room (also one by one)
