Try Semantle.

It's like Wordle in that you need to guess the word of the day, but works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, ysterday's word was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I'm currently 840 words away with a similarity of 47%. I started at under 2%.

Anybody else attempting it?

Wooo! Got it. Looking back I’m not sure why I didn’t make that leap sooner. But now I have hindsight I suppose!

@Bytrgrewd you can do it! Looking back, the words individually on their own weren’t very helpful but they were helpful when linked together with each other.

@SmolCat there does seem to be a definite pattern but any guess I make is colder. I will keep trying - still over 9 hours to go!

I solved Semantle #30 in 260 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 13.63. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #15. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 71.14 (998/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Haha! I had 839/1000 in 15 goes and then had another 244 wrong guesses! 😂
Got there in the end though. Better get on with some work now!

Random variation of one my other words got me to 940

Gah, I'm stuck on 933.

Still stuck without budging on 963! I have exhausted my vocabulary in that area so it must go somewhere else that I haven't picked up on.

Phew got it after 201 guesses and changing tack slightly. I can go and was h the kitchen floor now 😅😅😅

How to people approach this game? I haven’t got a single one so far, nor a word over 20% on any day!

I don't get it!!! I have two words that are showing 545/1000 but no synonyms are working!

OMG! I just did it for the first time and got it in 59!! Beginners luck I would think.

@Arcadia I’d say 500s are too low to be trying synonyms. Think broader. Maybe a larger selection of green words will build up a bigger picture of what the word could be.

I'm on 982. Not sure how I can be so close and still not have it!

I’m starting to think I’m barking up the wrong tree.

Guess 75 and 963 is my closest too. I have quite a few in the top 1000 and there seems to be two themes but I’m buggered if I can figure out what it is.

Stuck on 927 as well! Seems like a few of us are here... any hints from anyone higher up? Is this specific word hindering?

I think there are more than two themes that come up green, but those themes are all sub-themes of a wider theme (if that makes sense?) and if I'm right about what that wider theme is, it may be one specific one out of many possible [things] of that theme. If that's the case I might be screwed.
