Has to be nutella and banana for me.

Do you do savoury pancakes on Shove Tuesday?

Freshly cut and squeezed lemon and plain white cane granulated sugar.

By far and away the best for me.

Ganymedemoon · 25/02/2022 16:05

Lemon and sugar.

LuckyAmy1986 · 25/02/2022 17:11

Lemon and sugar

Twillseeker · 25/02/2022 20:59

Everyone is different in our house. DH doesn’t really like pancakes (weirdo) DS will only have them with sugar, DD likes them with bacon and maple syrup or just Nutella. I like banana and Nutella or strawberry and Nutella.

Misreadprob · 25/02/2022 21:00

Bacon, onions (diced and fried), maple syrup mmmmm

A580Hojas · 25/02/2022 21:02

Lemon and white sugar.

mizzo · 25/02/2022 21:08

On shrove Tuesday I like lemon and sugar or butter and sugar.
If we have the American style ones then bacon and maple syrup.

BuddhaForMary · 25/02/2022 21:17

@Iamkmackered1979

I’m with the lemon and sugar gang too, bought lemons yesterday. However those thin Crepes are lovely but my son prefers a thicker American type pancake but I can’t make them not sure what I do wrong so if anyone out there has a good recipe and some hints on how to make really good pancakes I’d be v grateful 😊 Now v hungry Savoury crepes I’ve had were chicken with a creamy sauce with tarragon in, they are delicious
4oz self raising flour 2oz sugar 1 egg Semi skimmed milk Mix all together and just add a little milk at a time and keep whisking until you get a nice thick batter consistency. Works every time! Just need the pan to be hot.

We had smoked haddock and prawn pancakes this week. Excellent! I like a bolognese type filling too.
Sweet pancakes are best with strawberries, blueberries and creme fraiche or chocolate sauce (or both)

GrumpyPanda · 26/02/2022 09:14

Savoury - gorgonzola/other blue cheese, beef mince and mushrooms.
Sweet - strawberry or blackberry jam and sour cream.

gingerhairthatshetiedinaplait · 26/02/2022 09:17

I really want to try savoury pancakes on my kids but one hates cheese! What can I make?
Some sort of savoury chicken type filling?

Thesearmsofmine · 26/02/2022 09:18

Ham and cheese sauce or Nutella and marshmallow.

Shannith · 26/02/2022 09:27

I'm lemon and sugar or squirty cream and strawberries or ice cream. DD Nutella, golden syrup or sometimes lotus biscoff spread.

However - I spotted this recommended in the guardian and it looks incredible.

Jaffa cake pancakes.

Drop scone/small pancake
Marmalade
Melted dark chocolate
Chill

Traditional lemon and sugar for me.

Workinghardeveryday · 26/02/2022 09:57

Totally forgot it is pancake day on Tuesday!!

Well that’s me stood flipping pancakes for a good hour with 3 greedy kids waiting and arguing with who’s turn is next..... and eating their weight in golden syrup pancakes until they feel sick 😞

Jumpingintomenopause · 26/02/2022 09:58

Crepe style lemon and caster sugar.
Fluffy American either bacon and maple syrup or Nutella, strawberries and crushed hazelnuts.

bruce43mydog · 26/02/2022 15:31

Lemon juice and syrupe

bruce43mydog · 26/02/2022 15:31

Spell check 🙄

golddustwomen · 26/02/2022 15:34

Just sugar! And bloody loads of it.

Ellmau · 26/02/2022 16:41

Butter and golden syrup.

Followed by chocolate.

bluechameleon · 26/02/2022 16:51

We are having savoury then sweet on Tuesday - cheese and ham for the meat eaters, creamy mushroom for the vegetarians. Then I'll probably have one lemon and sugar and one chocolate and banana.
