Pissed watching the Royle Family

It's my first day off work in 11 days so I'm on my arse on the sofa.

In my sloth lying about im watching the Royle Family, the wedding episode.

Ah, it's making me daft and sentimental. I've had a few merlots.

Denise is in the house with Jim waiting to leave. I know it's a daft show but I get a bit teary at it.

Its the Christmas episode that always gets to me, when Denise is in labour on Christmas day and Jim is trying to keep her calm in the bathroom with the carols on the stereo.

Nope - queen of sheba. Unbeatable episode

I love gavin and Stacey the one where she has Neil. That has me sobbing everytime.

I haven't seen the whole of the royal family I'm going to binge watch it I think. And probably be sobbing also.

I've deffo not seen the wedding one

If your a crier like me op you should watch afterlife if you haven't already. Has you laughing and crying in equal amounts.

Always makes me teary watching Royle Family as they remind me so much of my own family and my childhood. I haven’t been able to watch the ‘queen of Sheba’ episode as it reminds me so much of my mum’s final years. Fantastic show with amazingly talented actors and writers.

I loved the Royles, but wish they had ended it after Queen of Sheba. The last few Christmas specials were dire. The characters, particularly Denise and husband, had become silly caricatures.

It was not the same after Nana.
The surgeon removed her cataract - but he left the twinkle..

That one makes me emotional too. As does the one where Denise goes into labour as a PP has mentioned. I think it's possibly the best sitcom ever.

Denise Royle:
Dad, stop fiddling with yourself.
Jim:
I'm not fiddling with meself, I paid a quid for these underpants and I've got about 50 pence worth stuck up me arse.
Barbara:
She's right. If you're not picking you're arse, you're picking you're teeth.
Jim:
I'll pick what I want in me own house and when she gets her own house she can pick what she likes - her nose, her arse, her teeth. Just go and treat yourself.

Agree they should have finished after Queen of Sheba

Move on to Early Doors once you've finished that. Equally funny and some super emotional moments too.

I love that so many people loved it.

Hard to believe Caroline Aherne died so young, Denise was so great.

Love the Royle Family, reminds me of my granny's house. Safe and warm and wee me thinking 'nothing ever happens here' but everything was happening, wasn't it?

If thinking about Caroline makes you weepy whatever you do don't watch the return to the Fast Show programme that was out around about Christmas, there's this one sketch where she's just... not there. DH who is very rufty tufty normally cried like a baby.

Was an excellent sitcom.
So different.
Been watching some re-runs recently, and still funny.

A great sitcom. Funny and warm. What a talented bunch.

I can't tell you how many times i watched this while pregnant and balled my eyes out. I felt that fear
