Anyone finding the tone of this really quite terrifying...

I’m not one to get myself in a tizz over sensationalised news but this is starting to feel very different!

@Keepyourheadscrewedon

Trump would have licked the shit from Putin's arsehole if he'd been instructed to

How ANYONE has the audacity to laugh and joke when children are dying right now is beyond me.... and they say it is not the fault of Russians....these threads would tell you otherwise.

Who's laughing and joking? Trump was terrified of Putin and was clearly under his thumb. So all these 'Trump stood up to Putin when he was President' takes when we all saw him cowering like a dog when in his presence would indicate otherwise.

Go back to wanging on about Corbyn.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 24/02/2022 13:55

@Keepyourheadscrewedon calm down. Nobody is joking about children dying. Or are you saying nobody is allowed to joke about anything ever again until we have achieved a utopian state?
@Classica - another top tip, when criticising something - always consider the alternative because if you succeed at getting rid of the thing you dislike the alternative is what you are left with. In this situation I’m glad Boris is at the helm.
Agree.

Its disgusting isn't it.

Some posters have even been posting about how we would be worse off without Boris as if that isn't some kind of sick joke.

Alexandra2001 · 24/02/2022 13:58

I feel like it's the end of life as we know it. God I hope I'm being dramatic

Yes you are, he walked into Crimea and Georgia and we didn't end up with Nuclear war.

The main thing to do now is boost defences in nato countries, as for Boris? do something about Russian influence and money on our politics, too late for sanctions, you blew that.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 24/02/2022 13:59

Jgw I know what they are, and why they are doing it - but it really isn't okay. It only makes me feel more strongly that Russia have gone to the dogs, truly game over. It is North Korea and should never be allowed to rejoin the civilised world.

Animals.

Alexandra2001 · 24/02/2022 14:00

@ClaudineClare

But from the UKs perspective thank God we haven’t got Corbyn! He would probably be sending troops to back up Russia!

Biscuit

Strange as Putin wanted Brexit which Doris supported too and Boris takes the Russian rouble....

Putin never backed Labour, he backed the Tories.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 24/02/2022 14:00

Invading an entire country and causing thousands of deaths is far more serious than a bloodless annexation of Crimea!!!!

This is just about to get very serious.

alltheapples · 24/02/2022 14:00

@BackwardsPrawn

There have been other Prime Ministers I have not killed.

Great typo Smile

I hope.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 24/02/2022 14:00

Putin backs no one, he backs murder and expansion.

Nat6999 · 24/02/2022 14:01

RAF have been over Poland this morning from RAF Waddington, just seen one plane coming back now on Flight Radar. I have a friend whose husband is based there & she is worried sick.

there hasn't been 1000s of deaths and Crimea wasn't bloodless, Georgia was 100s of deaths.
TellMeMoreHellebore · 24/02/2022 14:02

i can't get on flight radar today!

Luckily we have a Prime Minister who takes money from the Russian President's mates, so there is no chance of the UK going to the dogs as well.

I think the poster is refering to the Russian invasion of Chechnya.

GallopingHighRoad · 24/02/2022 14:06

@CornishGem1975

Isn't there a train of thought that says war is good for the economy?
War can be orchestrated as a form of 'disaster capitalism'. This was a by product of the Gulf War, when the US billed the coalition for its equipment though Saudi Arabia bore the largest share, paid for in oil.

That was very much on the minds of the US warlords in the invasion of Irag in 2003. It was less accidental though and more orchestrated. This is why certain US security contractors were formed, to de-risk the US military and to take the war private. A number of company names will be familiar to posters and probably do not need repeating here. The US taxpayer did not fund those contractors who were paid for from the proceeds of oil sales into Caribbean bank accounts. War provides opportunity for individual pirates and mercenaries who come in different shapes and sizes, but it most certainly is not a 'fistful of dollars' any more. War is business.

Well I'm not claiming to be the actual Jesus... Hmm

If people WERE joking about civilians being killed, I'd be with you on that. But are you seriously going to have a pop at anyone who makes a vaguely flippant remark about anything peripheral to the current situation? Because if so, you're going to be busy.

People joke. They joked during (and about) the pandemic, and the Cold War, and WW2. Maybe you need to step away from the internet for a bit if you can't cope with that.

It’s what he signed up for. My stepson has been flying to deliver troops and equipment for a couple of weeks now.
alltheapples · 24/02/2022 14:08

@Alexandra2001 exactly Putin wanted Boris Johnson elected, not Corbyn.
Lets not rewrite history here.

"Strange as Putin wanted Brexit which Doris supported too and Boris takes the Russian rouble....

You are either incredibly naive or deliberately deceitful. Putin has his fingers in all the pies. On that note I am surprised nobody has mentioned Alex Salmond and the Russian influence on the independence referendum, or is that forgotten because he's not an Evil Tory (tm)? He's still broadcasting on RT, is that OK?
