Anyone finding the tone of this really quite terrifying...

I’m not one to get myself in a tizz over sensationalised news but this is starting to feel very different!

Jemma Forte uses this term re Johnson all the time she's quite upper class.

Are you saying I am both Angela Raynor and Jemma Forte?

You all morph into one as far as I'm concerned.

Well we have Johnson.

A liar. Someone who many people don't trust. Whose judgement many people don't trust. Someone who has a nasty streak to him.

And he is at the helm making decisions about our country and potentially our military response.

Serious times call for serious people. Johnson is not that person. But we are stuck with him.

I would agree with you. However there is party unity over this issue and it was reassuring.

Johnson is going to have a lot to deal with.

There is a cost of living crisis. That is only going to get worse. Covid restrictions may have been lifted - there is a huge NHS backlog. The economic recovery is not as good as he is talking about. There is the investigation into the parties. And there is this.

That's a lot for anyone to deal with.

I'm not a fan of BJ but I honestly don't know how he copes. Or any other leader of a major country. How do they do it?

Parties 3 times a week help relieve the stress.

FlouncerSIT · 24/02/2022 21:30

Would this be the continent he and his money-worshipping cronies were only too keen for us to leave?

I have masses of sympathy for the people of Ukraine.

I am beyond fury at the posturing of BJ and his mates, when they are up to their snouts in Russian money and have been for at least years, if not decades.

I swear that man thinks he's Churchill reincarnated, when at the moment he's doing a pretty good impression of channelling Chamberlain.

ginandbearit · 24/02/2022 21:30

He's more terrified that the invasion is a catastrophe for him and the Conservative party....where's his money going to come from now ?

Luckily Boris is a man well used to dealing with many challenges at once, given how many wives and mistresses he has had.

The party thing is over
cakeorwine · 24/02/2022 21:46

The party thing is over

I am sure Johnson hopes so.

But we still have local elections, levelling up and a cost of living crisis.

Johnson's actions and attitude will go against him even if he wriggles out of this.

Maybe Johnson will be more like Churchill than he would like to be?

FatFredsFriedEgg · 24/02/2022 21:52

The party thing is over

You should tell that to my previously staunchly-Tory MIL. The party thing will never be over for her.

Postdatedpandemic · 24/02/2022 21:58

@derxa Why is the party thing over / under the rug?

jgw1 · 24/02/2022 22:03

The party is over.

It is time for serious leadership, which will not be provided by Big Baby.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 24/02/2022 22:06

Of course we'd all be a better informed about the influence of Russian money in the UK if we could read the Russia Report

Would be quite funny if a Russian cyber operative dobbed the Government in wouldn't it !
Seriously though, I think cyber attacks are probably imminent, a cheap and cheerful way to cause chaos.

Tealightsandd · 24/02/2022 22:06
@apolloanddaphne

I think posters bringing up covid are doing so because of the irony. I have been read so many times on covid threads that it is tough for those negatively impacted by covid because they are CEV or suffering long covid. I persoanlly was told on several occasions that children CEV like mine can get stuffed and dont matter providing their child can continue to go to school while covid positive and they dont have to wear a face nappy.
So to now have people crying out about the lives of those in Ukraine being so important is ironic.
I do feel much empathy for them, it is an awful situation but to borrow a phrase from covid boards its impacting a low %, most people aren't currently at risk from this at this time.

Am i concerned - of course no one knows which way this could go, but equally no one knew what impact new variant of covid would have, or how thier loved ones would be impacted. Am i currently at personal risk - no - hopefully we will stay low risk and deaths or Ukraine and Russian people will stay very very low.
This.

The concern about the lives of innocents wrt war.

The CEV, CV, elderly, and Long Covid disabled are innocents.

Tealightsandd · 24/02/2022 22:09

Separately, it's well past time another species took over. Humans have messed up time and time again.

FatFredsFriedEgg · 24/02/2022 22:42

The party thing is over

This is not the end of the party thing. It is not even the beginning of the end of the end of the party thing. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning of the, errm, party thing. And, vaccination rollout, Keir Starmer, beer.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 07:19

I wonder why on earth on a thread about a war in Ukraine, and a second day of blood shed - with millions of displaced families and children, hundreds of people have died - why anyone would let the thread be derailed by 'partygate'? It is pretty disgusting, and says everything about you and your character, and of course the people here trying to deflect Russia's brutal actions.

The fucking party no longer matters look around you, Europe could be facing literally WW3 and nuclear attacks (according to Putin himself) and you are STILL banging on about the warm wine and zoom quiz two years ago!! Angry

BackwardsPrawn · 25/02/2022 07:25

If you're going to go on every Russian/Ukraine thread and tell everyone what they cannot post (as I've seen you do over and over). You are going to be very busy.

Give it a rest. You are becoming the derail.

Notonthestairs · 25/02/2022 07:34

Corruption in government does matter.
Unwillingness to comply with their own harsh legislation does matter. Covering it up matters even more.

Trust in your Government is crucial - particularly given what is happening in the wide world.

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 25/02/2022 07:35

And we ALL know why you choose to derail threads backward as I have also seen. So why don't you give it a rest and go have a coffee break.

This is about the person leading our country at this time

An untrustworthy liar.

You speak about character. The character of our leader is important.
And we have the wrong leader at the wrong time

There are plenty of threads about the Ukraine. This is a very specific thread about Johnson and his character.

Who is a manipulative liar. Someone who I don't trust to make the right decision.
