What a repulsive man John Barrowman is

John Barrowman, indecent exposer extraordinaire has been on tv this morning talking about how it’s not sexual harassment to lob your knob out in front of your colleagues and everyone had a great time and thought it was hilarious whilst he was doing it.

How tone deaf can one man be. Even given it was over ten years ago, has it really ever been ok to behave in that way, anywhere, let alone in a workplace.

I’d love to hear from the women who were present when this was happening. I believe he actually put his penis on the shoulder of one woman. The man should have been arrested but no, he’s on tv talking about how painful it’s been for him, for this to have been brought to the attention of the public.

I hate how he's tried to excuse this as some kind of hilarious caper and that everyone just found it hilarious.

Exactly. How does he get to decide how enjoyable everyone else found it? Obviously some people (understandably) didn't think it was the lighthearted party trick exposing your knob is not much of a trick but still or hilarious banter that he is portraying or else he wouldn't have had complaints and had to apologise however insincerely previously.....or has he forgotten about that?

RestingMurderousFace · 22/02/2022 19:20

Always found him to be a sinister sod but assumed I was just out of step, often am.

Bollindger · 22/02/2022 19:22

To be honest I think he was stupid to do it.
But the people when talking about it the first time were acting like it was the funniest thing they had seen the lady who played Roses mum, really was not distressed about it which makes you wonder what everyone else was doing.

2Gen · 22/02/2022 19:23

I hadn't heard about this and I do think it was indecent exposure ad sexual harassment and in the case of putting his 'orrible winkie on that woman's shoulder, sexual assault!
I don't like "cancel culture" either but in this case, I don't think it would "cancelling" him but a just and proper response to behaviour that is a form of abuse and even criminal. "Cancelling" is when someone's ostracised and or sacked for having an unfashionable or non-woke opinion. This wasn't just an opinion, it was obnoxious behaviour that would make most women feel very uncomfortable and even disturbed. He should be sacked and prosecuted!
P.S. If a man ever did that to me, I would go mad and I would likely hit him! Once a young bloke grabbed my crotch in a nightclub and I smacked him in the chops! Right job for the dirty bastard!

GatoradeMeBitch · 22/02/2022 19:24

James Corden apparently tried to sneak his penis up the sleeve of one of the Gavin & Stacey producers/directors on set. I suppose many famous people like to see evidence of exactly how much power they have over others...

ButterflyBitch · 22/02/2022 19:25

@Nocutenamesleft

Apparently it was because Noel Clarke said so in a video I would believe Noel any day!

What w disgusting man John barrow man has shown himself to be

I hope he does get cancelled! I’ve met him too. He was really full of himself then

He only said it to take the heat off himself as he was discovered to have sexually assaulted someone. Men are utter fuckers sometimes.
MissyB1 · 22/02/2022 19:30

I hate that kind of fucking grim behaviour always thinly “disguised” as a joke. It’s never a bloody joke, it’s done deliberately to bully and humiliate.
And it’s not acceptable at any age, and gay straight or Bi, I don’t give a shit, it’s still totally revolting and should never be tolerated.
Who the fuck do these vile men think they are?? Angry

User48751490 · 22/02/2022 19:31

Getting your wang out for all to see, gay or otherwise, is just sick. Hardly hilarious.

MissTrip82 · 22/02/2022 19:33

@AndAsIfByMagic

It was over and done with years ago. Most people on set thought it was a laugh but 2 people didn't. They complained, rightly. He apologised to them and the behaviour stopped.

15 years ago.

He had tremendous public support last year when it was all dug up again. You don't like him? Others do.

He has a right to make a living. I hate cancel culture that allows for no mistakes. People need to accept that others are human and do daft things.

The Victorian age beckons.

Goodness 15 years ago! Hahahahha you mean way back in history when times were totally different……in 2008.

I love it when people behave as though this was a time when it was fine and normal to expose ones genitals at work.

Has I done so in 2008 I would not still be working in my job today. That’s not cancel culture, that’s being held accountable for one’s behaviour.
The fact it’s a new concept to a small number of white men doesn’t mean it’s a new movement.

I suggest also that you familiarise yourself with what went on in the Victorian age……

I think the fact that she doesn’t appear distressed in an interview doesn’t mean at all that she wasn’t horrified at the time. And even if she laughed at the time, she may have done that to cover her embarrassment.

And of course the other option is that the women there genuinely thought it was hilarious. Even that doesn’t negate the fact that he’s committed a sexual assault. You’re completely right of course, it makes you wonder what else was going on.

@drum123

To those of you who are saying it's part of the 'theatrical' mindset, I work part time in theatre and film and it's so not. Yes, people are in much closer proximity than in other workplaces and it can be more difficult to keep boundaries in place, but I have never seen a man get his penis out unless it was part of his role. This behaviour is so far beyond any kind of excusable banter and he should be thoroughly ashamed of himself. I hope never to have to work with him.
I worked in the music industry. It’s not there either. That’s how I met barrowman!
OneSwallow · 22/02/2022 19:37

He’s a flasher , nothing more. Why does he think that’s acceptable?

Tequilabeliever · 22/02/2022 19:38

@AndAsIfByMagic I wonder if you’d be so relaxed if one of your female relatives told you that uncle Fred had lobbed their penis on their shoulder. Would you say well it’s ok, it was years ago. No of course you wouldn’t. You’d be horrified.

Even 15 years ago this was a sexual offences. Let’s not dress it up to be a mistake. Barrowman is a sexual menace, nothing less.

@MRS54321 Perez Hilton would draw cum spurting into women's mouths on his website when he started out. That's not Oscar Wilde-type wit, is it? It's a little shitstain who hates women.

AlsoNotAGirl · 22/02/2022 19:43

@VioletLemon

Cannot stand the creepy AF mysoginist dickhead. Interested to know what the reaction would have been if he was doing this to men.

He certainly would not be on screen again. Women as per are supposed to grin and humour him. If he wasn't a gay man trading on camp "fun" he would be in jail. Imagine the reaction if Jeremy Clarkson went around doing this to women.

It's says everything about Barrowman, I happen to know he is a creepy weirdo. Can't believe he was on telly!! This Morning by any chance?

Weren’t there a lot of stories of Chris Evans (dj) getting his penis out at meetings at the bbc?
SailingNotSurfing · 22/02/2022 19:43

I once worked with a very camp gay man, who used to grab my boobs or my bum, just for a laugh, and when I told him to sod off, he retorted that his actions weren't sexual and I was a prude for getting offended. Prudish or not, I reported him to HR for inappropriate conduct in the workplace. He was moved to another department after a disciplinary hearing and shortly after that, was dismissed after more high jinks with another female worker.

Just because a man is only attracted to other men, doesn't mean they can touch women wherever and whenever they want. The sexual element is irrelevant, the assault is still assault.

Crucible · 22/02/2022 19:45

A useful phrase in many instances, in most cases for women around predatory, inappropriate and attention seeking men is this: 'if any part of you touches me, you're not getting it back'

Diva66 · 22/02/2022 19:46

Vile man.

JuliaSways · 22/02/2022 19:47

@Mychitchatdays

Actually worked in a few workplaces that were like this when I was young. Didn't even think anything was wrong at the time. It was just banter, but now it seems horrific.
Same. I was 17 when I started work in a large office in 1997. I was the focus of 1 man's attention. He was 34 and married. I was very naive, had led a very sheltered life. I thought it was because I was amazing. Looking back... Dear me, he was using me to assert his popularity and dominance around the office and I cringe at the thought of his behaviour toward me and how I had to laugh it off - making a complaint or telling him to back off was just out of the question.

One of many examples of his behaviour. I was at the photocopier which was next to, but out of sight of the main office. He came up to me and said :

"want a bet?"
Me: "OK"
Him: "I bet you a fiver I can make your boobs move without touching them"
Me (thinking it was a safe bet) : "OK go on then"

He grabbed my boobs, jiggled them, laughed and said "best fiver I've ever spent!" to which the rest of the men in the office who had been listening in, let out a massive cheer. I was so embarrassed and just walked away. I soon brushed it off as office laughs as we had a very young, social vibe and pranks were par for the course.

It took the #MeToo movement for me to realise what had happened wasn't OK, or a bit of banter. So engrained to think that behaviour was acceptable, it took 15 years and an international outcry for me to think back and question my experience.

Nocutenamesleft · 22/02/2022 19:53

@JuliaSways

Oh god. That’s awful. I’ve had things like this happen.

It’s horrid. Truly vile xx

UndertheCedartree · 22/02/2022 19:55

@Lemonlady22

As a nurse for 4 decades I have had numerous 'flashes, gropes, innuendos etc etc' all by men. I probably can reduce 10% of these due to dementia, hospital administered drugs and anaesthesic problems. The remaining 90% are/were dirty, grim men taking advantage of a woman doing her job. 6 bedded bay of men, one asked me if my pubes were as blond as my head of hair...5 other men guffawed with laughter at this 25 year old. This is the life of medical professional, and because these me are 'ill' they get away with it
I've experienced this kind of this too. It is extremely grim Sad
UndertheCedartree · 22/02/2022 19:58

@JuliaSways - I'm so sorry to hear that - just disgusting.

LisaCz · 22/02/2022 20:08

A 'gay penis'! You, my friend, have won the Internet today! Love it!!!

me4real · 22/02/2022 20:16

He is confessing to crimes and anyone who's seen him do this could report him.

He must be a bit odd to not try and keep quiet about it now.

Getupoffthesofa · 22/02/2022 20:16

I had this Happen to me with a d list celebrity!!!!!! At a tanld with a group of otherwise all men on a work trip..he stood behind me, told me to shut my eyes, and the Punchline was flapping his cock about next to my face. Also a misogynistic arse.
