What a repulsive man John Barrowman is

John Barrowman, indecent exposer extraordinaire has been on tv this morning talking about how it’s not sexual harassment to lob your knob out in front of your colleagues and everyone had a great time and thought it was hilarious whilst he was doing it.

How tone deaf can one man be. Even given it was over ten years ago, has it really ever been ok to behave in that way, anywhere, let alone in a workplace.

I’d love to hear from the women who were present when this was happening. I believe he actually put his penis on the shoulder of one woman. The man should have been arrested but no, he’s on tv talking about how painful it’s been for him, for this to have been brought to the attention of the public.

Apparently it was because Noel Clarke said so in a video
I would believe Noel any day!

What w disgusting man John barrow man has shown himself to be

I hope he does get cancelled! I’ve met him too. He was really full of himself then

Theunamedcat · 22/02/2022 18:48

@AndAsIfByMagic

It was over and done with years ago. Most people on set thought it was a laugh but 2 people didn't. They complained, rightly. He apologised to them and the behaviour stopped.

He had tremendous public support last year when it was all dug up again. You don't like him? Others do.

He has a right to make a living. I hate cancel culture that allows for no mistakes. People need to accept that others are human and do daft things.

The Victorian age beckons.

His apology was clearly fake and insincere then as he clearly doesn't see whst he did wrong
mummykel16 · 22/02/2022 18:48

@toomuchlaundry

If he had done this in a park or to young girls walking down the street, would that be acceptable to some people on here? Or is it different because he is in musicals?
You think that doesn't happen?
HorrocksToThem · 22/02/2022 18:49

I've never been able to stand John Barrowman, he's so bloody full of himself. What he did with his penis sounds like an offence and should be taken seriously.

Greydove28 · 22/02/2022 18:49

I knew it would be itv! Its appalling. What was Richards reaction? How awful 😱

Fizbosshoes · 22/02/2022 18:50

It's never been OK but I think in the past people were either afraid to say anything or were not taken seriously.
We can't keep pretending that society has got unreasonably prudish (or "bullying" ) for calling out unacceptable behaviour

It was sexual assault.

Please don't minimise what that disgusting excuse of a man did.

I was sexually assaulted by a family friend when I was 11 ... should I be laughing that off yet?

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 22/02/2022 18:54

This sort of behaviour is definitely fucking hilarious when your not the focus Confused

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 22/02/2022 18:56

And actually if you're a sexual predator damn right you should be cancelled

MRS54321 · 22/02/2022 18:56

@sadpapercourtesan of course it’s right
Or Julian Clary or Perez Hilton would never have had a career. TV and film are LITTERED with bitchy and vulgar gay characters

I don’t doubt there are woman ( like myself ) who are not into that sort of “humour” but I’ve definitely seen a few of my mates willies over the years lol but maybe not in their 40s right enough.
It’s a shame he’s went on the defensive instead of saying “ my bad. No more willies , not even for my mates!willy has retired !”

toomuchlaundry · 22/02/2022 18:57

@mummykel16 by him or others? I know exposing yourself happens, and should be dealt with and not laughed off as banter or silly men who like to take their willies out

ChargingBuck · 22/02/2022 18:58

I hate cancel culture that allows for no mistakes.

@AndAsIfByMagic - so you reckon sexual assault is "a mistake"?

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 22/02/2022 18:59

@toomuchlaundry

No work place should accept behaviour like this, and I would feel really uncomfortable if a group of friends acted like this in a social setting.

Maybe some people who think this is ok should read the OFSTED report on peer on peer abuse in schools. This is why schools are trying to stamp out ‘it’s only banter’ type excuses

👏 👏
longwayoff · 22/02/2022 19:00

It's dominant pack animal behaviour, he's Top Dog round here. Just one step away from pissing on your sofa if you invite him in. Man's a fool.

Grenlei · 22/02/2022 19:01

The issue I have with Barrowman is the double standard.

If he was a hetero man he'd have been cancelled. But because he's gay we're supposed to accept it's somehow fine? That's bullshit.

'Bitchy and vulgar' is completely different from 'actual sex offender' Confused

It was never acceptable to get your cock out and force it into other people's personal space. It was always wrong, threatening and vile. Women and girls always felt scared, revolted and violated by it. You claiming that indecent exposure was a widely accepted fashion choice is just.....weird.

Rhannion · 22/02/2022 19:08

He has a concert tour coming up soon so probably needs to flog tickets.
He hasn’t apologized for his actions, seems to think it’s below him to say sorry, male entitlement yet again Bloody creepy sod

Lemonlady22 · 22/02/2022 19:08

As a nurse for 4 decades I have had numerous 'flashes, gropes, innuendos etc etc' all by men. I probably can reduce 10% of these due to dementia, hospital administered drugs and anaesthesic problems. The remaining 90% are/were dirty, grim men taking advantage of a woman doing her job. 6 bedded bay of men, one asked me if my pubes were as blond as my head of hair...5 other men guffawed with laughter at this 25 year old. This is the life of medical professional, and because these me are 'ill' they get away with it

drum123 · 22/02/2022 19:10

To those of you who are saying it's part of the 'theatrical' mindset, I work part time in theatre and film and it's so not. Yes, people are in much closer proximity than in other workplaces and it can be more difficult to keep boundaries in place, but I have never seen a man get his penis out unless it was part of his role. This behaviour is so far beyond any kind of excusable banter and he should be thoroughly ashamed of himself. I hope never to have to work with him.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 22/02/2022 19:13

Flashing isn't about sex it's about power. So his sexuality is irrelevant.

This ^

It's bullying behaviour.

Pemba · 22/02/2022 19:14

Yes he is a total dickhead. A shame, I used to like him, until this all became public. He can't be forgiven, because he is arrogant/stupid enough to believe he has done nothing wrong. Did he apologise? - well any apology he gave was clearly just for show, probably his agent told him to?

Does anyone remember the incident a few years ago where Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand were on his radio show and left messages on the answer phone of an actor, where Russell Brand was boasting about having slept with the actor's granddaughter. Poor guy, nobody wants to hear sexual stuff about their child/grandchild. Jonathan Ross was sacked from the BBC afterwards, and that's why the chatshow is now Graham Norton I suppose. I then read an interview with Jonathan Ross a few months later, and it was very clear that, like Barrowman, he thought he had done nothing wrong., and apparently it was the fault of other people being prudish. I previously used to like J.Ross as well.

I suppose there are a lot of arrogant men like this, and perhaps there is a higher proportion of them in the entertainment business? (as it's all about showing off!)

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 22/02/2022 19:14

The fact he doesn't get why its not OK, and is now playing the victim says it all really. We must let men put their penises wherever they like at all times for the amusement of everyone. Even at work when you're least expecting it you could have a penis put on your shoulder, and don't kick up a fuss or the man might be upset. And we wouldn't want that.

He's thick as mince and repulsive. It's sexual dominance plain and simple.

WhatAHexIGotInto · 22/02/2022 19:15

I hate how he's tried to excuse this as some kind of hilarious caper and that everyone just found it hilarious. It's a bit like 30 years ago when lads thought it was just hysterical to show you their 'elephant joke' by pulling the pockets out of their trousers and getting their cock out - mostly in nightclubs - and oh wasn't it funny. No it fucking wasn't but I can remember laughing uncomfortably while being really upset. I laughed because everyone else did and I thought I was the one being sensitive or couldn't take a joke. I found out later that my friends felt the same.

Perhaps that's a bit like how some of the cast felt.

He's disgusting and the fact that he still can't seem to say 'I was 100% out of order, it was wrong' but instead excuses it as ok 15 years ago says that he thinks it's all just fine.

swimlyn · 22/02/2022 19:17

John Barrowman.

Scumbag Extraordinaire.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 22/02/2022 19:19

@Yeahbutnotreally it wasn’t on Never Mind the Buzzcocks was it, where he made a ‘gobbling’ joke? Because if so, that was my first introduction to him and I thought he was gross then. Played on the fact he’s gay to be completely crude - his actions found after the fact I wasn’t surprised about.

Isn’t there normally a woman also on the programme he was on today? Did they just have a man interviewing him as they thought he might not get such a sympathetic response otherwise?
