What’s behind your belly button? On the inside.

Just this - do not Google it!
Presumably the inside bits just die off ??
Putting my finger into my belly button makes me feel weird and I’m 50. 😳

Some people have reasonably ok looking ones. But some people have fugly ones. And not its not an innie v an outie thing. Plenty of horrid looking innies.

MelaniaFlump · 17/02/2022 22:10

I used to find it very squirmy until I’d been pregnant, after which it’s a lot less squirmy. (For physical reasons I don’t understand, not mental ones.)

Woofins · 17/02/2022 22:11

Do dogs have bellybuttons? Like I can't see on on my dogs tummy but surely do all mammals have umbilical cords therefore bellybuttons????

Frlrlrubert · 17/02/2022 22:11

My friend had an awful pain behind his belly button and his GP said he'd got fat and the pain was one of the internal structures detaching so his belly could expand.

Someone I know doesn't have one because they had an operation a long time ago and they got sewed up without it for some reason.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 17/02/2022 22:11

My DP has a round "dip" where is belly button should be.

Im scared to put my finger in mine in case it just goes on forever and I end up turning myself inside out

Unsuremover · 17/02/2022 22:11

@Luredbyapomegranate

When I was younger mine used to fill with a stinky liquid occasionally 🤢 I think it was annoyed by tights fluff. I don’t get it any more, it was gross but it was a feature..
Me too! I was clean and not particularly sweaty. It got really itchy too. Always worse after scratching. And not I can’t resist having a scratch.
ChickenStripper · 17/02/2022 22:12

@mumda

I hate belly buttons. They're disgusting. Outys are worse than innys. But I don't like any of them.

Is it normal to worry it would come undone?

and you would go like a balloon? 😂
Undecicive · 17/02/2022 22:12

A bloody stitch from a hernia surgery that wasn't cur properly so I get a sharp pain from it every now and then if I touch/lie on it at the wrong angle. It's already got some tisse grown over it but I can still feel it, must be 3-5 mms long.

Luredbyapomegranate · 17/02/2022 22:14

@teobeo

I have a mole in mine - the skin type not the small, furry, cute little mammal Hmm
A mole in a hole! 😀
DomesticatedZombie · 17/02/2022 22:14

Ouch! That hurt a bit.

Me too!!!

They had to go when I had an ectopic. I couldn’t see the scar at all until I gained weight, a few years ago. It’s like my own bmi warning system.

Then I had intense internally pains in the area a while back and they took me in and operated the next day. No idea what had happened. They didn’t really say. But it had to be left as a hole to heal over itself 🤮 I had to pack it every few days for weeks whilst it healed. Truly horrible. I was too scared to look….

RestingPandaFace · 17/02/2022 22:15

I feel totally vindicated by this thread, my whole family say I’m a weirdo because it makes me need a pee if you stick your finger in mime. Now I know that they are the weirdos Grin

MissyB1 · 17/02/2022 22:16

Ok it’s a shrivelled up vein, called the umbilical vein. According to Dh (a Gastroenterologist).

Oh yes they surely should have! My head is hurting 😫

Do you think it hurts the baby when the umbilical vein shrivels up? Maybe that’s why newborns are so miserable.

MoiraNotRuby · 17/02/2022 22:24

I didn't know there are people who DONT feel anything, thats mind boggling. I am not a violent person usually but if someone touches my belly button my instinct is to punch them very very hard.

Lolalovesmarmite · 17/02/2022 22:26

I used to know someone who would wet himself if you poked him in the belly button…….Probably something that he shouldn’t have shared with his fellow students!

RoRoYoYo · 17/02/2022 22:27

I don't have one! After abdominal surgery it has disappeared Grin

Didiplanthis · 17/02/2022 22:27

I spent ages applying expensive cream from the vet for sarcoids (horse wart things) and one just wouldn't go.... took me ages to realize it was his belly button not a sarcoid...

UserWithNoUserName · 17/02/2022 22:28

@JenniferWooley

Slightly worried that I feel nothing when I poke my finger into my belly button

Off to Google

Me neither. I just tried. Felt nothing but fat. Oh well.
tkwal · 17/02/2022 22:29

I told my children the thing about their bottoms dropping off if their bellybutton got unscrewed, now one of my grand daughters believes it 😒

Didiplanthis · 17/02/2022 22:29

I don't feel anything , neither does DS . DD and DH go most peculiar if I poke theirs and shout at me !

Makes me feel weird too
FunkyPhantom · 17/02/2022 22:32

I remove fluff and any other debris when in the shower, bit other than that I can't stand my belly button being touched.
Any partner is told this.....and God help them if they poke it as a joke......it doesn't end well 😆😆👍
