Do you know these words?

Apparently the list on the right is much better known by men and the list in the left by women. Sounds like bollocks, I thought, but just tested myself and DH and we both knew all of “our” words and only a handful of the others.

Do you know these words?

I know all but 1 on the women's list (whipstitch) and quite a lot, 11, on the men's.
I'm fairly well read and work with books, though (albeit not specailist or scientific books), which may contribute.

@Gladioli23

That test is quite interesting.

I did it once and as instructed only did words I really KNEW were words as per the heavily penalising thing. I got 0 non words and 70% of words.

Then I did it again (it gives a different word set each time) and just did the whole thing on whether I felt like I knew them, without then interrogating that. I got 1 non word where I wasn't sure but my fingers moved before I could stop them, and identified 90% of the words.

I did exactly the same, I was cautious when I wasn't sure about a word for the same reason. I identified all the non words but most of the real words I got wrong I kind of knew but couldn't define exactly eg I was pretty sure that crinoid was a biological term but couldn't remember what it meant or I know what aileron means in French and I had a vague feeling it is an English technical term. I even managed to get 2 words wrong that I know because I started to doubt myself Grin It would be interesting if they had investigated whether there were sex based differences in terms of decision making when a participant had doubt.
