I'll start. The disposable toilet brush. Anti spot face masks. Tinting mascara. One day I'll be ahead of the game 😂

I invented iTunes/ Spotify. Was shopping in HMV looking at albums and said to my friend wouldn't it be great if we could pick random songs from an album and just pay for the ones we want. Someone else must have been listening and stole my idea!

SisterRuth · 11/02/2022 21:39

About 30 years ago I dreamt you could click on a photo in an album & it would play a video. Basically invented YouTube or mobile phones...yeah definitely!

DaydreamerBetty · 11/02/2022 21:39

I use to steam sterilise tiny airtight tubs to fill baby formula when out and about. Bottles would be filled with boiling water and stored in a thermo bag. The bottles could then be made on demand. A few years later Tommy teepee made bottles with the container fitting inside.

The concept and exact name of duvet days. I remember saying it to the lovely security guard when I came into work one day in about 1999 (as in - “I could have stayed in bed, we should be allowed a day just to stay in bed once a year - a duvet day”)

Either someone stole my idea, or it was the hive mind, or I’d heard it and forgotten if heard it.

When I was about 13 I thought I'd invented Matching Accessories.

Was quite disappointed when I saw some magazines from the 60s Grin

My sister discovered that the radius and circumference of a circle always had the same ratio. She went excitedly to my mother who said "yes dear, it's called pi"...

LizzieMacQueen · 11/02/2022 21:47

I came up with the idea of delivering fresh ingredients pre weighed for specific recipes, including things like stock and herbs. Basically a meal in a box. Had thought about the whole polystyrene boxes too. This was 18 years ago when my littlest was in a buggy. Wished I'd pushed that idea a bit more.

AppleKatie · 11/02/2022 21:51

I had the idea for Sky+ 15 years before it came out. Everyone told me I was insane.

puddlesofmothers · 11/02/2022 21:54

Brown and tomato sauce on a bacon sandwich.

clpsmum · 11/02/2022 22:00

@DanteThunderstone

I genuinely thought i'd invented masturbation as a child. Had no idea anyone else knew how to produce those sensations in themselves. Was at least 14 before I realised I wasn't special or gifted. Blush
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 This has made me laugh so much and really cheered me up!! Thank you!
NarcissistsEyebrows · 11/02/2022 22:05

I invented the concept of the burner mobile phone 25 years ago, back before I became environmentally conscientious

I also invented pringle cheese on toast sandwiches

Put a bit of grated cheese on a pringle, CAREFULLY grill until it melts. Then put another pringle on top quick as a flash so the cheese cements them together

DP swears he invented this too, in a different county and decade from me. We were clearly meant to be.

Marble cake. When I was about 12 I was making a cake and decided to make half chocolate, half vanilla, then swirl it in the tin together so each slice had a mix of flavours. Imagine my shock when I saw such a thing in the shop a few years later!

LemonDrizzles · 11/02/2022 22:07

Toy hammock. After a quick Google was sadly disappointed

LemonDrizzles · 11/02/2022 22:09

I also started doing Microsoft's a-z folder breakup years before Microsoft. Years

SmallElephants · 11/02/2022 22:12

@Seriouslymole it exists!! Or did, briefly, in 2014.

gingerhills · 11/02/2022 22:14

When I was a little girl and needed glasses I used to fantasise about there being some tiny drops you could just put in your eye and they would form on your pupil to correct its vision.

Then contact lenses were invented and I thought: I got there first. Grin

my mum has been making marble cake for at least 40 years

@LuckySnips

I totally thought up an app (about 10 years ago!) that would look up artists from your itunes playlist and alert you to when they were playing a concert nearby. I had loads of ideas for it. Then I discovered it already existed.

Also motion-sensor taps when I was a kid.
Videos that you could set to record via phone. (This was before TiVo/ hard drive tv tuner recorder things)

What is this app?
Mollysocks · 11/02/2022 22:38

I had the idea for ‘check a trade’ years before it came out. I also had an idea for magnetic eyeshadow palettes to customise your own colours but that’s been done now.

ClaudiusTheGod · 11/02/2022 22:39

What's the worse that could happen?

No one has invented that yet. It’s ‘what’s the WORST that could happen’.

I don’t know why so many people have forgotten the difference between worse and worst.

takingmytimeonmyride · 11/02/2022 22:39

@Seriouslymole

I still think I have invented this, in my head, as I have never seen one - a buggy board for adults. I’m sure there is a market for this. You’re welcome whoever picks it up and runs with it.
I think you'll find I invented this. So there.

(My eldest is 22, so if your child is younger I thought of it first. And if your child is older I still thought of it first.Grin)

frazzledfragglefromfragglerock · 11/02/2022 22:42

My sister still claims she invented the leaf blower the year before black and decker brought one out 🤣

Lorddenning1 · 11/02/2022 22:46

I don't think my invention has been made yet, when I was younger I was obsessed with matching nail polish to outfits, I thought wouldn't it be great if you could pop into Superdrug with your top or dress and scan it and a machine would make that colour nail polish, basically the BnQ paint thing but for nail polish. You could even go further with lipstick and eyeshadow Grin

minipie · 11/02/2022 22:47

When I was a teenager I invented a new insult, by mixing together the words Twit and Prat.

Turns out it already existed Blush
