Keir Starmer chased by protesters with a noose.

Languishingonthesidelines · 07/02/2022 18:53

Starmer was bundled into a car after a mob of protesters angry about the Savile case swarmed around him, apparently waving a homemade noose and scuffling with police. No doubt the same knuckle draggers who erected a gallows in parliament square just a week after Sir David Amess' murder.
Johnson really has become a mini me trump and has inadvertently or not enthused violent protesters to attack a prominent politician. Hopefully this will backfire against him...

Has anyone listened to the BBC podcast “The Coming Storm”? It’s all about how conspiracy theories about powerful people protecting paedophiles has been used in right wing politics in the US. Isn’t this basically the same thing here? I.e. isn’t Boris - a clever man despite everything - trying to imply KS is part of this conspiracy? If so it’s a lot more scary than weird.

BowerOfBramble · 07/02/2022 23:09

@Bordois

I'm sure there's a woman someone thats to blame for this instead of Boris?
😂😭
HomeHomeInTheRange · 07/02/2022 23:33

@iklboo

Boris is not so much Britain's Trump as its follow-through.

@Lolamento

People who need to insult like the lefties here are clearly lacking in intellect.
Oh I didn’t realise that Boris’s critics, even those outraged enough to be insulting, had to be lefties…perhaps someone should tell his colleagues that think he was wrong?
ABCDEFyou · 08/02/2022 00:53

Some of the people in that video are regulars at the anti vaccine and anti covid restriction protests and who have been calling for politicians to be hung during the whole pandemic. I could hear vaccine, Assange, Magna Carta comments on too. One of the people in that clip is from a YouTube channel Resistance GB and they're all common themes in the channels comments. Nuremberg, Freemasons, agenda 21, peadophile establishment etc all mentions a lot too.

The newsnight journalist being hounded in the street by them last summer had the supporters going on about Jimmy Saville then. They've been calling for politicians to be burned, hung, murdered or "face justice" for quite a long time now. That's nothing new and I've been laughed by family for being worried that one day they will do just that...hang someone. Boris would be harmed by them too but it doesn't mean he wouldn't egg them in with a few well placed comments taking eyes off himself and onto someone else.

There's comments saying weapons should be taken to serve justice to the traitors and "we are the 99 per cent" Some of them are even saying it wasn't Starmer but a crisis actor to wind the protesters up.

Snog · 08/02/2022 01:18

I am indeed reminded of the phrase "Britain Trump"

Thingstodotoday · 08/02/2022 06:37

@Lolamento

“SmallThingsEverywhere
@MeanderingGently He said it as a dog whistle to his Neanderthal base. He knows it’s a lie taken from a Far Right website, but wanted to rile up the mob. As usual the twat doesn’t care who he hurls under the bus, to try and save himself. He most definitely is Britain’s Trump!
Neanderthal. You use the same words than Biden to insult people.”

You mean as Biden. Bless you. Maybe learn to construct a simple sentence before banging on about lack of intellect.

NashvilleQueen · 08/02/2022 08:09

I don't think when he said it last week it was done as a call to arms by the loony fringe. I took it more as a vicious counter-attack like a wounded animal cornered and lashing out with anything he had to hand.

However his conduct subsequently (and the resignation of his senior advisor precisely on the issue) shows that others wanted him to apologise and retract but he wouldn't. This is the Johnson playbook. Never actually apologise. Deflect, challenge and if need be lie but never apologise.

And before anyone says that he's apologised for the parties please note that they weren't real apologies. They weren't from him. He was the spokesman on behalf of others. An honest personal reflection and real contrition for harm caused is beyond him.

Notonthestairs · 08/02/2022 08:18

It was a planned comment. It wasn't said in the heat of the moment. It wasn't a slip up. It was discussed in advance and Mirza advised him against doing it.

He knew what he was doing.

NashvilleQueen · 08/02/2022 08:41

Oh. I didn't know that. How utterly bizarre.

girlmom21 · 08/02/2022 08:47

@Ipadflowers

This is misinformation op. The crowd were anti vaxxers and were angry he didn’t mount an adequate defence against the tories, as part of that they hurled some abuse about savile also not being tried, as in the point they were making is he is failing all round.

It’s spreading false information to say he was followed by people angry about savile. He wasn’t, he walked into a anti vax protest and they turned on him.

They're shouting about him protecting paedophiles and specifically using Saville's name...
SleepingStandingUp · 08/02/2022 08:47

@truthfullylying

Don't bloody blame everything on Boris Have a Biscuit for being a Johnson sycophant.

Even Tory MPs are blaming Johnson. Johnson is a sht of the highest order and his comments were a disgrace.

The sooner the useless twat resigns the better.

This.

Are those individuals responsible for their own behaviour? Yes.
Are they doing this based on a slur said by Boris which he knew the Press would pick up? Yes.

I agree it isn't Trump levels but given the deaths of MPs lately, is what Boris said dangerous? Very.

FeyToThere · 08/02/2022 08:49

I think Sir Kir will be our next PM. Just a feeling.

girlmom21 · 08/02/2022 08:52

The same people saying this is nothing to do with Boris are the ones who blamed Angela Rayner's 'scum' comments when David Amiss got attacked.

Boris needs to apologise for and withdraw his comments, publicly and quickly. He's a clever man, despite his ridiculous facade, and he knew exactly what he as doing.

He's a journalist. He knows exactly how to rile people up and get the reaction he wants.

girlmom21 · 08/02/2022 08:53

@FeyToThere

I think Sir Kir will be our next PM. Just a feeling.
I highly doubt it. I'm pretty certain there'll be a new conservative PM in the coming weeks. Boris won't see it through to the next GE.

I am not a leftie and I don’t lack in intellect (I hope) But I also think that Johnson is a lying scumbag who appeals to people’s worst instincts and I definitely blame him for this incident - and so much more

Maybe that’s how it translates from Russian?

BowerOfBramble · 08/02/2022 09:07

@Hoppinggreen ha that was my first thought too.

Choccy21 · 08/02/2022 11:06

Were the protestors all adults? Don’t people take responsibility for their own actions anymore?
I’m sure political party leaders can accept that hecklers are par of the course?
One of them shifted something about Saville.
But maybe they were also protesting about Labour in general too?
Wasn’t it only recently that people were worried about the right to protest?
It was a small protest and the police took swift action. Only one person was arrested.

Boris said something stupid and irrelevant l but grown adults should have the sense to behave rationally and take responsibility for themselves.

Choccy21 · 08/02/2022 11:07

One comment was made about Saville I meant. Bloody predictable text.

They clearly don't have the sense to behave rationally, do they?

They were adults whose bad behaviour is being encouraged by the most senior people in society.

Hecklers don't get in peoples faces to abuse and intimidate them.

Hecklers don't murder people at constituency surgeries.

stickygotstuck · 08/02/2022 11:09

@BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation

Johnson's too thick to realise that his careless words might have real world consequences because he's a juvenile scumbag. Trying to score cheap points because he lacks the intellect to form a proper argument.
So true.
Samcro · 08/02/2022 11:10

sad to see people defending the indefensible, thank god they are few and far between.
