Keir Starmer chased by protesters with a noose.

Starmer was bundled into a car after a mob of protesters angry about the Savile case swarmed around him, apparently waving a homemade noose and scuffling with police. No doubt the same knuckle draggers who erected a gallows in parliament square just a week after Sir David Amess' murder.
Johnson really has become a mini me trump and has inadvertently or not enthused violent protesters to attack a prominent politician. Hopefully this will backfire against him...

There was a lot of yelling about Julian Assange and even the Magna Carta. Some of it wasn’t connected to Johnson.

The Magna Carta is not a bill of workers’ rights, people: it was the result of an argument between the king and slightly lower aristocratic castes.

EvilPea · 07/02/2022 21:58

He’s a dangerous dangerous man.
Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe Is paying the price for his words before he was PM.

The echo chambers algorithms create are dangerous, and social media play into it as well. But it’s boris’s words that ignite it.

Yes, well, I don't suppose many of the people hounding Keir Starmer are going to be in the 'intellectually gifted' category if they can't do a bit of critical thinking and start from a basic premise of "Boris Johnson doesn't tell the truth unless he's given no alternative" which should lead you to conclude "The slur about Keir Starmer is almost certainly false and only being said because Johnson can abuse Parliamentary privilege as a diversionary tactic".
YogaLite · 07/02/2022 22:08

Boris is a national disgrace but he is clinging to power because he wants his wedding celebration in the summer at Chequers and to be at coronation of King Charles so he is playing a waiting game.

I really don't understand why MPs still haven't got rid of him, such an embarrassment internationally too.

Guineapigssweak · 07/02/2022 22:09

Really don't give a fig. More important things to worry about in the world. My mother's op has been cancelled for 2 years now, worried about paying bills, close friend suicide and life for most getting harder each day. A stupid remark from Johnson does not impact my life and I would rather people just bloody well grew up and behave like decent human beings. All MPs are spoilt twats who know nothing about the real world and people's hardships.

OverByYer · 07/02/2022 22:10

It really puts me in mind of the last few weeks where Trump was desperately trying to cling onto power. HE is under a police investigation FFS and then this. Any one else would do the honourable thing and resign.
HE is a dangerous narcissist.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/02/2022 22:15

If what is being said about KS is true in regards to that disgusting sting of vomit (I can't even say his name) Why is he (BJ)only bringing it up now. If he knew foryears isn't he as bad. He wasn't spouting about this during lock down was he you know when KS was crawling up his arse saying "'I'm backing Boris".

Georgeskitchen · 07/02/2022 22:16

Can someone enlighten me on what the far right lie was that Boris told? I'm a bit confused here

Can I just check that I understand you ?

You are saying that 'you don't give a fig' when the leader of our country uses his Parliamentary privilege to deliberately slander an opponent to the extent that his opponent is subsequently attacked in the street ?

Can I also check that you think 'people just bloody well grew up' is a statement that applies equally to Keir Starmer and Boris Johnson ? Because in my view Keir Starmer is a reasonable, educated man and I think is doing what he thinks is best for his country, but Mr Johnson is probably never going to change and your desire for him to 'grow up' is something that is unlikely to happen.

Until, and unless, you are willing to directly engage with the system and back those MP's who are not 'spoiled twats who know nothing about the real world and people's hardships' you're not in a position to complain. I can think of several MP's who fit your criteria - including Angela Rayner who understands all too well what it is like to live in poverty. She might be a bit outspoken but she's a refreshing change and I would be happy to see a woman like her have an opportunity to make the changes she thinks the country needs.

Boris Johnson said in Parliament that Keir Starmer was responsible for the CPS not prosecuting Jimmy Saville (so, letting him go, in effect).

It's simply untrue and any number of people have stood up to say this on BOTH sides of the political spectrum.

If Johnson had said that anywhere other than Parliament he'd almost certainly be sued for defamation.

Does that clear it up for you ?

You've had a lot of terribly upsetting experiences Flowers but I believe that Johnson's remark does impact your life because it makes your country worse and that affects everyone you love too.

Also, respectfully, many MPs are very good hardworking people who care about their areas and their constituents.

turnaroundtime · 07/02/2022 22:23

@MeanderingGently

I did hear Starmer had been bundled into a police car for protection after a mob jeered him....didn't know it was a noose. It wasn't reported that it had anything to do with the Savile case (BBC Radio 4 news).

However, this was very different to Trump inciting a mob in USA. Boris didn't incite anyone, wasn't urging anyone to take any action, his comment was during the usual parliamentary slanging match, not an address to the general public or any mob. Don't bloody blame everything on Boris.

Even if you think Boris' comment was ill advised, any mob chasing Starmer is entirely responsible for their own actions, and should be caught and suitably punished/restrained etc. I am fed up with everything being blamed on the government, and the current drive to use any happening as ammunition against them.

Bit like when he said Nazaneen Z-R was doing something she wasn't and got her sentence extended. Even his own party are speaking against him. You are backing a sinking ship Pet.
BitOutOfPractice · 07/02/2022 22:24

Johnson is responsible for that in exactly the same way that Trump was responsible for the mob storming the Capitol. He should be charged with inciting violence.

I really do feel ashamed of where we have sunk to.

I’m no fan of Starmer particularly but he and his colleagues acted with incredible dignity. They must’ve been terrified.

Wow. You really do have your fingers in your ears and your head in the sand don't you. The cause of most of the things you mentioned is the government.
twelly · 07/02/2022 22:29

Whilst I agree that the people who are acting like thugs to Keir Starmer are responsible for their own action they have been egged on by the appalling display by Boris Johnson in Parliament which sends out the message that you can say anything. There is currently an outcry about the "joke" made by Jimmy Carr - I think Boris Johnson's comment is far more of a concern because JC is not an elected representative of this country, it was said the very place where we expect decency and an example should have been set. Appalling that such low standards are being displayed - what hope is there with this an example

BitOutOfPractice · 07/02/2022 22:34

@twelly I agree. Johnson airing these untruths - in parliament too! - has, in the minds of these Neanderthals, legitimised these opinions. It’s ok to say turn now (in their minds) because the PM has said them.

It reminds me of the uptick in racially aggravated crime after brexit. These horrible views, legitimised.

Ipadflowers · 07/02/2022 22:36

This is misinformation op. The crowd were anti vaxxers and were angry he didn’t mount an adequate defence against the tories, as part of that they hurled some abuse about savile also not being tried, as in the point they were making is he is failing all round.

It’s spreading false information to say he was followed by people angry about savile. He wasn’t, he walked into a anti vax protest and they turned on him.

Johnson planned to make that comment. He knew what would happen. Did he know that people would attack Starmer and hurl abuse at him? Maybe he did. Maybe he didn't. He knows now.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 07/02/2022 22:43

@BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation

Johnson's too thick to realise that his careless words might have real world consequences because he's a juvenile scumbag. Trying to score cheap points because he lacks the intellect to form a proper argument.
That’s letting him off way too lightly. He has a good 2:1 in Greats/Classics from Oxford - a hard degree and they are marked anonymously. His many privileges helped him get to Oxford, but he must have a decent brain to get that degree.

It’s not that he’s too thick to understand the consequences; it’s that he doesn’t care. There is only one thing in this world that matters to Boris, and that is Boris.

It was outside the building where he works, they were obviously waiting for him. Not like he saw them three streets away and decided to walk through them.

If it was just anti vax then why target Starmer and not say the vaccine minister?

If they were simply legitimate protesters and this is all false news, why were they shouting that he should hang, and that he should be burned? I wonder?

Plus crap about Assange and the Magna Carta. I’m leaning towards this being misinformation too. There’s so much power politics being played over the internet. I don’t like Johnson but this is not a ‘Trump followers at the Capitol’ scenario.

Bordois · 07/02/2022 22:59

Chants about freemasons, paedophile, New World Order, Saville, the Magna Carta and traitor.

I am sure 2 of those wouldn't have been in there had it not been for Johnson.
