I got DH to give the silkie some apple and the rabbit. Silkie has never had apple before but was extremely happy. She was getting a bit loud at times today, Silkiecat has a competitor for attention. Grin

halfpasteleven · 11/02/2022 22:48

@Lemonsandlemonade
I am thinking of you, your DB and your DM and hoping for positive results.

@MissConductUS Happy ordering!

Busy week in work, looking forward to slowing down for the weekend.

DoctorTwo · 12/02/2022 08:05

No Miss, fortunately, it was only the rocker cover gasket. I would have tried to do it myself but for the lack of a torque wrench, as I know if you pinch a gasket down too hard you could rupture it and need to start all over again.

MissPerculiar · 12/02/2022 08:53

Just topped up the bird feeders, love is in the air for some of our feathered friends.

MissPeculiar · 12/02/2022 09:07

Just posting again with the correct spelling of my username - name change fail Blush

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/02/2022 09:09

Blue skies and -2.
I am cleaning the sinks/drains via "Pümpel" and hot soda water.
And we will have sprouts today, they are in season.

HelenaJustina · 12/02/2022 09:49

DC1 who tested negative on lateral flow yesterday has tested positive again this morning and as such is in a foul mood.

Champagneforeveryone · 12/02/2022 11:35

Argh, how frustrating for DC1 and you! helena Hmm

DS was off college on Tuesday (practically unheard of) with a very bad cold, though tested negative on LFT. He's sprung back with remarkable speed and vigour, whilst pulling a Typhoid Mary on me and practically knocking me out with the ferocity of the cold I am experiencing. I'm actually off work (also practically unheard of) and feeling exceptionally sorry for myself.

DH (as regulars on this thread may recall) never misses an opportunity to malinger about in bed with a feeble cough and wafting handkerchief, so we're waiting with baited breath to see if / when he succumbs Confused

GiantHaystacks2021 · 12/02/2022 12:15

I changed my bedsheets yesterday.
I prefer the brushed jersey cotton set that I took off for washing.
This other plain cotton IKEA set is not as nice and comfy.
I will wash the brushed jersey cotton set tomorrow and put them back on the bed asap.

HelenaJustina · 12/02/2022 12:56

I’m due to change my sheets tomorrow giant and also have a brushed cotton at the moment. My inclination to complete this chore is low, as at the moment the sole occupant of the bed is DH (isolating in bedroom) while I am sleeping on the couch downstairs

MissConductUS · 12/02/2022 13:15

Welcome, @MissPeculiar, and thanks for sharing your avian news. As you may have noticed there are other bird feeders on the thread.

Welcome, @GiantHaystacks2021, and thanks for sharing your bedding maintenance news. I changed our sheets last weekend so I'm going to let it slide for this weekend. I think they're Supima cotton from Lands End.

Helena, sorry to hear that you are dealing with another positive case.

Champagne, sorry to hear that you're feeling so poorly. To be fair to your DS, Typhoid Mary was always asymptomatic and your DS was obviously sick. I think you should wash the dressing gown of doom for your DH, it will be needed shortly.

DH is having a lie in, saying he feels achy. I am fine.

We rang DS last night to sing happy birthday to him. He was at a basketball game at uni and could hardly hear us due to the noise, but appreciated the call anyway.

I'm going to do a warehouse club shop and then go to the posh Italian supermarket for some of their lovely bread, then work on our taxes. The last of the figures I needed were issued electronically today, so I may be able to finish and file them this afternoon.

DH will likely stay here and malinger rest while I'm running around.

Hope your DS had a nice birthday MissC

I have been like a zombie past few days, maybe needed to catch up on sleep, but am emerging out of hibernation and a nice sunny day here if cold. Forecast for Scotland is now an impressive 50mph winds and heavy rain on journey up, hail showers, sleet and rain whilst there. Though now about 3 hours without rain, sleet or hail when hopefully can visit the zoo and see the pandas for DS though forecast adjusts every day. At least have hotels with swimming pools though second one need to book pool and no-one answered.

Just had hot cross buns and a cup of tea. I did manage 15 mins exercise but need to do more as have 2 days to catch up on though can at least put my operated arm straight now and might even be able to do 2 armed backstroke, not at same time Grin

Have discovered why the silkie is getting so loud at times, its when someone else is eating in the same room as her, our neighbour must wonder what is going on as we never told her we moved the silkie in. She loves the silkies borking though, must sound like she is living next to a zoo though. She is elderly and lives alone though so does not mind our zoo.

Silkierabbit · 12/02/2022 14:47

DD has now been completely won over by indoor silkie. She said to me you know I always said that the brown silkie was the ugly on, she is actually extremely beautiful. She also said before to leave her alone outside and I was being soft bringing her in and now DD said DH has put the silkie behind the sofa, that isn't right, she should be the centre of the room (which is where I wanted her but DH vetoed) but now DH and DD are in favour of moving her and DD also said that DH should give her another bath. Not sure about that the silkie did like it but they aren't supposed to get wet too much and only did it before as moving her from outside. DH said he will move her today though we will see.

Nydj · 12/02/2022 14:52

Lemons fingers cross for your DB’s results - must be so stressful to have to wait so long. Well done to your DS on the clapping front and to you for the breakthrough with student at work.

We plan to make the famous brownies from Miss’s recipe later this afternoon. We swap out some of the dark choc chips for milk chocolate chips as we have quite a sweet tooth here.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/02/2022 17:15

So, the flat is cleanish again, the sprouts have been eaten, the Morose's have been fed and the owl is happy and I did my daily 5 cm on my crochet blanket. I am a good girl and I want chocolate.

MissConductUS · 12/02/2022 17:24

I'm back from the warehouse club and Italian supermarket. There was no potting soil at the warehouse club, but I did get two 20 pound bags of charcoal with a $2 voucher. The price had gone up by $4 since the last time I bought it. Inflation is quite noticeable here.

DH has recovered sufficiently to go for walk. It feels like April today, not February.

Nydj, the brownies are lovely with some milk chocolate chips. I use dark, semi-sweet and milk chocolate in various ratios just to change it up a bit.

Silkie, the weather does not sound ideal for your trip.

Silkierabbit · 12/02/2022 17:39

DH has moved silkie to the middle of the living room, rabbit thinks this is the best idea ever and bouncing around. Silkie was nervous at first then reassured by the pen.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/02/2022 19:34

Silkie That sounds lovely for silkie and rabbit.

Silkierabbit · 12/02/2022 23:34

Thanks Prok Dh said the silkie is now very happy with it too, doing a happy cluck but now will not go to sleep and just clucking away. He said he has turned off the light hoping she will take the hint but she seems like she is having a Saturday night party with rabbit.

mathanxiety · 13/02/2022 01:05

I did a deep clean of the kitchen today and then DD4 clumped in with her snow boots on, but I forgave her because she had walked to the supermarket to buy ingredients for our Superbowl dinner tomorrow (which she is going to make) and she bought doughnuts for us all too.

Lemons hoping for good news for your DB.

MissConductUS · 13/02/2022 01:18

math, what's she making for your Superbowl dinner? I think we're going to do steak on the charcoal grill.

HelenaJustina · 13/02/2022 07:57

Having tested negative for the 12th day in a row, I can go to my niece’s Baptism this morning.

What is the Super Bowl US contingent? I understand it is some kind of sporting event, is it like the FA Cup final?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/02/2022 09:54

Good morning, clear blue sky and below 0. We overslept heavily. DH works for himself and is now seriously behind his planned schedule.
I am only doing fun stuff (fun vor me, that is).

There will be some sort of vegetable + rice dish for our main meal.

Sunbird24 · 13/02/2022 11:48

I am supposed to be driving 3.5hrs to drop something off but it’s raining and I don’t fancy it - should actually have gone yesterday but f do isn’t fancy it then either! It’s to an empty house so nobody is waiting for it or anything, it’s only going to inconvenience me later on if I don’t do it this weekend.
I have also discovered Quordle (which is definitely not helping as just giving me another device for procrastinating…) It’s like Wordle but you’re trying to solve 4 words at the same time!

Silkierabbit · 13/02/2022 14:23

The silkie is now loving being in the middle of the living room and is happily chirping all the time but has learnt how to climb on top of the pen and is very proud of herself. This has made rabbit go from hyperactively boinging around her to go into the corner with his food. DD had not realised the silkies new talent and went to the shop and came back and heard a scream then a laugh. Silkiecat and silkie can now see each other and silkiecat always goes up high to look down on rabbit, not sure if there is now a highest pet competition or the silkie is joining silkiecat in looking down on rabbit. Silkiecat is still the highest as the pen is quite low.
