Be fair, they’re not all the same. Politics is a dirty game of compromise, but some don’t just walk all over everyone the way “Boris” has.
There are alternatives to this prime minister. Tom Tugendhat looks promising to me, for a Tory. Theresa May is still there and I don’t believe this would have happened on her watch. There are Tories questioning Johnson publicly today. Many were forced out earlier of course.
I agree, and did say
most seem to have lost their moral compass not all. Personally I could pick out a fair few MPs I respect from what I know and they are from across the divide and political spectrum. I may not agree with their views or party manifestos but I can respect their conduct and general decency,
All this shit and spin (and the mainstream media is largely complicit) is just all accelerating a race to the bottom. Decency in public office should be mandatory not a surprise bonus. Systemic dishonesty and greed seemed to have spread by the time of the duck house expenses and has festered away since.
Very few politicians give a straight answer to anything any more - dodging the question has become an absolutely infuriating art form. BBC QT and R4Today invariably make me wince.
I can't see any 'new' untainted party succeeding in the current political system and I wouldnt blame the electorate for being wholly disenchanted and even feeling effectively, and very meaningfully disenfranchised.
Truly public-serving MPs must be horrified. I dont think it a stretch to say democracy is in peril, and I am reminded that the Prime Minister himself seemed rather aggrieved to have to publicly declare "Britain is not remotely a corrupt country" . Just another lie.
