What strange things make you emotional?

I've always been an emotional person, partly due to a neurological problem but I seem to be getting worse in my "old age".

I'm not a very patriotic person and I'm always a little Hmm about excessive patrotism but for some reason patriotic songs from other countries from other countries often reduce me to tears. I think it's because it reminds me how huge and diverse the world is.

m.youtube.com/watch?v=MogVdARCFgY This video in particular reduces me to floods of tears.

What odd things make you cry?

Bagpipes. No idea why, I'm not even Scottish.

MarshaBradyo · 29/01/2022 20:11

It’s probably not that uncommon but I now leak tears at things like musicals or children singing live

The latter I did anyway but both more so after pandemic

The group singing gets me

I'm always more emotional at a certain time of the month , but last Thursday was ridiculous. My sons friend came for tea it was cottage pie which he had never had before. I said if he didn't like it I would cook him something else , he had one mouthful then said he absolutely loved it and gave me a big hug , and yes I was blinking back tears . Ridiculous !

The magnet kitchen advert. "Magnet May have made me, but you made me pet of the family" gets me every time

Salvation Army playing Christmas Carols

mum7468 · 29/01/2022 20:20

Rounds of applause make me cry which is quite embarrassing!!!

Wombat98 · 29/01/2022 20:22

Rory Cellan-Jones, the ex-BBC journalist, lost his dog yesterday & I cried after seeing the IG post...

Turquoisesol · 29/01/2022 20:23

I struggle to hold back tears watching kids do their races in school sports days. I actually hate school sports days and I think it’s really unfair to make the kids perform for the parents without a choice and it’s always the same kids coming in last. The look on their little faces as they try their upmost, i find it really emotional.

Oh,the advert of the children singing "what a wonderful world" in a land dump site. It gets me every time.

pumpkinpie01

That's adorable and would have made me tear up a little too.

Group formations such as flash mob dances, majorettes, processions, Irish dancing etc where everyone is doing the exact same moves make me tearful for some reason. Also felt emotional watching the Red Arrows flying in formation.

CapitanSandy · 29/01/2022 20:25

Seeing someone do well. mostly people I don’t know like someone getting through to the next round of masterchef

Champagneforeveryone · 29/01/2022 20:26

Horses, mostly either racing or pulling carriages. I adore but dread the scurry racing at our county show in equal measure.

I'm also devoutly thankful we don't have a mounted police section in our county as that would be likely to bring on "an episode"

The funny thing is I'm actually secretly a bit scared of horses Grin

Glugglejug · 29/01/2022 20:27

Watching people run marathons makes me cry.

Flash mobs always get me too. Especially if they're set across various countries. The one that especially gets to me is this.

Loud singing, whether it be a single person on the street or at a concert. Sometimes I make myself cry if I sing along to a song

Newbabynewhouse · 29/01/2022 20:34

Not strange really but weddings, funerals, sad adverts about animals, children and old people.. (especially babies and old people!) Ive always been super emotional over my dad... if he hurts himself it kills me inside...

JamesGetIn · 29/01/2022 20:37

Watching people communicate using sign language 🤔

AcceptCookies · 29/01/2022 20:38

Mine have both been mentioned, which makes me feel less weird ;) sports days and marathons. I'm so bloody proud of every single child and adult that I have never met, and I really well up. I'm dreading my own kids having sports days...

TerryChoc · 29/01/2022 20:39

Another one for round of applauses. I become immensely proud of whoever the applause is for.

Also aeroplane displays… such as the red arrows or even sometimes seeing/ hearing a spitfire I just cry.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 29/01/2022 20:44

Watching dogs do agility.

LightSpeeds · 29/01/2022 20:46

Little children eating. There's something so sweet and innocent about it...

MorvaanReed · 29/01/2022 20:46

Old men crying, certain songs and at the moment Jack Monroe naming her prospective prices index for goods that people with lower grocery budgets buy the "Vimes Boots Index" after the character from Terry Pratchett's books. The latter is making me ridiculously weepy at the moment.

LogInLogsOut · 29/01/2022 20:47

I don't cry but seeing dogs carrying their toys when they're out makes me a little emotional. They always look so proud of themselves.

I went to my first ballet this year, cried my flaming eyes out. I'm never usually emotional
