When did you have your elective C-section?

As in the title, which day did you have your elective c section??

My community midwife told me that they’re usually around week 39 so I assumed a couple of days either side of this. Spoke to a midwife at the hospital and she said they can be any time up until 39+6.

Apparently we won’t hear a date until a couple of weeks before so would like to know when others have had theirs? Obviously it’s not a massive difference either way but I’m quite enjoying the fact I can plan better for this one, I.e when to start mat leave etc and if it’s likely to come a week later then I might push my mat leave back a week.

The closer I get to my due date though the more likely I’ll go into labour spontaneously!

A week before due date

FoxtrotSkarloey · 27/01/2022 22:28

39 weeks exactly with my first and 39+1 with my second because 39 was a Sunday. Both booked about 2.5 weeks beforehand.

ilovetomatoes · 27/01/2022 22:29

38+2 and 38+4

38+5 because 39 was a Sunday.

Bang on 39 weeks

urghrtypically · 27/01/2022 22:30

39+2 and 39+4 (even though previous experience meant going into labour could be very bad).

Most people seem to get bang on 39 weeks though.

ThePug · 27/01/2022 22:32

Depends on if there's a medical reason for it to be at/before a certain date. Mine with DS2 was 36+4, brought forward from 38 weeks (DS1 had been born by emcs at 36+3) as they didn't want to risk things going pear shaped again, which started looking likely.

ToastCosILoveIt · 27/01/2022 22:32

38+2 and 39+1, both booked two weeks before.

moirarosebabay · 27/01/2022 22:37

My son was due 19.02.14 and I had him Friday 14.02.14. Hope you get your date soon :)

Franca123 · 27/01/2022 22:38

39 ± a number of days. Both times only told a few days before.

Totalwasteofpaper · 27/01/2022 22:41

I got mine and it’s 39+4. My face was 😱 when I got the date

I was a bit scared buttttt also happy I got a slot and mine is first thing in the morning (assuming no Emcs turn up on the day)
first babies do tend to go over (all 4 friends who had their first babies in the last few months went over 40) and they will move you up if you go into labour and you bump to the front of the queue.

redandwhite1 · 27/01/2022 22:42

Do they do them on a Saturday then? I'm 39 weeks on a Saturday - got my consultant appointment next week but assumed it'll be 39+2 so the Monday?

Totalwasteofpaper · 27/01/2022 22:44

I also got given my date at 31-32 weeks which reading the thread seems pretty early…
I really think if I had had to wait until 38 weeks the stress and anxiety would have induced early labour!!

MuchTooTired · 27/01/2022 22:48

I was booked in for 38+2 with my DTs but it got brought forward to 36+5 due to severe pe.

I’d had it booked from 33/34 weeks I think!

Curiousmouse · 27/01/2022 23:10

37

Dimondsareforever · 27/01/2022 23:13

39.2. They wanted to book in 39.5 but that was the same day as a family member so we asked for a few days earlier!

noblegreenk · 27/01/2022 23:18

Exactly one week before due date.

Sassy306 · 27/01/2022 23:24

I got 40 plus 2 which was a Monday AM slot. Waters started to trickle the day before so went in and had it on the Sunday afternoon

DinosApple · 28/01/2022 06:02

39 exactly. It was a Friday and I was first in. I think they didn't allow weekend elective sections. Great experience.

hypeman · 28/01/2022 06:05

Mine was scheduled for 39+5.

Ended up having EMCS at 38+3 for other reasons.

MooSakah · 28/01/2022 06:14

36 weeks as they needed to come out earlier than planned

Gardengates · 28/01/2022 06:17

40+3

I wanted to go to at least 39+6 because it made the difference between her being born in August and September.

Then we got bumped off the list two days in a row because they had no space.

LumosSolem · 28/01/2022 06:25

Bang on 39 with both.

Actually had the date for my first from about 16 weeks. Might have been a bit sooner with my second, but then I changed hospitals and I got my date for new hospital when i was about 23 weeks I think.

RoastedTurnip · 28/01/2022 06:27

I guess it depends why... Mine was 37!

cultkid · 28/01/2022 06:32

39 on the nose
