that front numberplate on most cars are white, and the one at the back is yellow.
Just bought a car and thought perhaps the dealer had made a mistake until I noticed that all cars had this!
Am I the only one who has only just noticed this.

He looked at me in amazement and told me to go outside and have a good look at all the cars, then to report my observations.

Some number plates are black with white letters.... They are very very old now though.

😆how have you not noticed?

Some now have a green stripe - is that because they are electric/hybrid?

I thought, when green "L" plates first came out, that they were for learners who were environmentally friendly 🙄.

@noblegiraffe I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not (and I hope you are) but they're definitely different colours when you put a set of them side by side.

This is a revelation to me, and I’ve recently purchased a new car. Genuinely hadn’t picked up on it nor given it any thought. Thank you for highlighting it

I don't see why it matters if people know this or not though. You can still tell which is the front and back of the car. I also never did a theory test as passed in 1981.

How the hell can people not know this? Seriously? How did you pass the eye sight part of the driving test.

. I'm Irish and it was the first thing I noticed when I got to the UK as a lad :-p. All the rear number plates are yellow! That's how you know you're in England.

My DH is from Dublin and they call cars from 'up North' yellow reggers!

My dad always pointed out illegal number plates when I was a kid. So now I'm a pro at spotting them. And also unbalanced caravans

Ok, so this is a joke right? There is no way that anyone who drives cannot have noticed that the numberplates of the cars driving in the same direction in front of them are yellow and the ones driving towards them in the opposite directionare white?
