Ok, mine is, Why is it so common for Americans to be known and raised by their middle names? Eg, their parents put Alexandra Nicole on their BC but they are always called Nicole and have been from birth.
Any Americans who can explain this to me?
Any questions others have?
Hellocatshome · 22/01/2022 22:41
Is that particularly American? I know quite a few English people who do this especially amongst the older generation.
I have lots of questions along the lines of how the hell does the Internet work, but even if someone tells me I still probably won't understand.

Maybe it isn't. I just find it really interesting for some reason 🤣

Dinosaurs weren't spiritual creatures, unfortunately.

- Where is the universe? As in, what contains it?
- Why can't people get my surname right. I'm married to Mr Bloggs. My surname is Wearherwax Bloggs. Why do people insist on calling me Mrs. Bloggs?
- Why does putting anything the stairs to be taken up and put away render it invisible to everyone else in the house?
Stillfunny · 22/01/2022 23:55
Where do birds that die end up ? How come we never see that manual dead birds around.
PatterPaws · 22/01/2022 23:57
If Heaven is for people, then I think we'd have to accept that other higher order mammals such as apes and dogs will find their way in too.
What about lower order animals such as hamsters?
What about those really low down on the food chain? Chickens? Sardines? Snails? Insects?
Pucarbuile · 23/01/2022 00:23
@bubbleblower85
Yes! If they go too deep or too shallow they can drown. Brain Child (netflix) explains it better

Justmuddlingalong · 23/01/2022 00:26
Do all the people you see at the airport back in the day, wearing brand new, just out of the box trainers not get blisters?

How do you know?!
NewYearEveryYear · 23/01/2022 00:40
@Stillfunny
Foxes and crows... Basically any carrion eaters will eat dead birds.
I once saw a pigeon eating another pigeon..it was over 20 years ago, but I haven't quite trusted them since.
Merriwicks · 23/01/2022 00:45
@itsnotover it is done a lot in ireland as traditionally in the Catholic Church you had to be named after a Saint. So Saint name was first and middle name was what they wanted to actually call their kid and what their kid was known as. My dad goes by his middle name as he was named after his father and rather than have 2 in same house with same name my dad is known by his middle name.

Question 1 Have a look at How Big Is Our Universe by Professor Brian Cox and the Open University available on BBC Ideas, for the beginnings of an answer to this. A Google will take you straight to it.

How do you lose weight. I don't mean 'eat less and move more'. I mean how is weight lost from a body.
Do you breathe it out? Sweat it out? Pee it out? How does the physiology (?) of it actually work?
Mamamamasaurus · 23/01/2022 01:14
Also, where TF was that PP's ironing board?
thaegumathteth · 23/01/2022 01:16

It is a snorkel, it provides cool dry clean air to the engine and prevents water and dirt getting into the engine, especially when off road.
And they look seriously cool!

The fat is respired and turned into carbon dioxide which is breathed out and water. Fat is just carbon, oxygen and hydrogen atoms.

We know that dinosaurs were not spiritual creatures because no one has ever seen their ghost!

WeatherwaxOn · 23/01/2022 09:54
Why do parents around my way picking their children up from school think that the rules of the road don't apply to them? Parking on corners, on yellow zig zag lines + "keep clear" signage, and on white zig zag lines?
Itsnotover · 23/01/2022 10:36
@Merriwicks
Ah, thank you for this. So maybe it's a religious thing. I never knew.
Aroundtheworldin80moves · 23/01/2022 10:38
In the USA, do the cops really just do 'sobriety tests' like walking in a straight line for suspected DUI, and if so why, and not breathalysers?
Think I've been watching to many American dramas on Netflix...
