Another day, another celebrity surrogate baby

www.eonline.com/amp/news/1317172/nick-jonas-and-priyanka-chopra-welcome-baby-via-surrogate I think I need to stop looking at social media as hardly a week goes by when I don t see yet another wealthy celebrity couple opening up their homes to a little baby via surrogate. So many rich gay couples as well it’s like their own little community of fathers with surrogate babies. Is it social media that is making it look so common or has it somehow increased recently? I’m not talking normal average people I’m talking about people literally being able to buy babies.

What a weird couple. She is an attractive older woman and he looks about 12.

I know what you mean

Honestly it makes me sick. Born at 27weeks as well. Let’s hope they still want her if she doesn’t reach her milestones www.marieclaire.co.uk/news/celebrity-news/priyanka-chopra-nick-jonas-baby-surrogate-762764/amp

Its a case of rent a womb, completely grim she didn't have fertility issues just didn't have the time to ttc with her husband as her work schedule wouldn't allow it. Makes me wonder if they will hire a nanny will do all the parenting so they can maintain their busy schedules.

TwigTheWonderKid · 22/01/2022 13:56

"Their busy work schedules also mean that it’s difficult for them to physically be together to conceive when she is ovulating". Seriously?!

Tigertigertigertiger · 22/01/2022 14:05

Blimey.

Will they have surrogate parents for the business of actually raising this child ?

It’s the Mail for heavens sake, it’s not factual. I think it’s more likely she did have some issues.

I’m not a fan of surrogacy, but the bitchy comments about handing the baby back, and the sexist/bitchy comments of him looking like a kid compared to her, are uncalled for IMO.

Avarua · 22/01/2022 14:08

Ugh. Buy a baby.

iklboo · 22/01/2022 14:11

It's like they ordered a baby from an online menu. Brings a whole new meaning to Deliveroo Hmm

Newyearnewyearnew · 22/01/2022 14:13

They will reunite as soon as the baby leaves hospital? If born at 27 weeks that could be a while..

Yes, nannies round the clock

Blimey. Too busy to TTC! There's the title of a MN thread right there.
Sleepyquest · 22/01/2022 14:31

Too busy to conceive so will they have time to raise the baby? I'm all for working parents but if they can't even get together to do the easy bit...

00100001 · 22/01/2022 14:32

So weird

ThatNameAgainItsMrPlow · 22/01/2022 14:36

She doesn’t need to come up with some fake bs reason though. She can keep it private.

Beamur · 22/01/2022 14:37

Liz Kendall also in the news today with her surrogate born baby.
The narrative around this baby is curious. It seems like a very privileged position to decide to rent a womb because you're too busy to conceive. The surrogate has had multiple paid for pregnancies before this it seems.
Not a great start for this little one to be so early and are any of the parents actually in the hospital with her, or are they too busy? Or is that not part of the deal? So sad. I really hope she is well..

wishingitwasfriday · 22/01/2022 14:50

Whilst I'm happy for them and hope the baby is doing well, it seems strange to have huge amounts of money and not be willing to take a year or so out of your career (both of them) to try to have a family. To at least be in the same room long enough to have sex at the right time.
Why is the immediate solution to pay someone else to have the baby so it doesn't impact your career?
A relatives baby was born at 26 weeks and has been in and out of hospital since she was born, although now seemingly doing well at the age of 5. Will be interesting to see how they handle it if baby isn't 'perfectly healthy' when they leave hospital.

Bizarre and unpleasant comments on here. As someone who has struggled with infertility, surrogacy is the last option people usually try to start a family. It isn't an easy path, so many risks and uncertainties. Wish the new family all the luck and happiness in the world.

OhWhyNot · 22/01/2022 15:14

Seems to be the new trend 15 years ago it was adopting a baby from Africa (in Hollywood)

Considering the articles say that they have no fertility issues and that they chose surrogacy because they aren't together often enough to have sex at the right time, your comments aren't relevant. They have been better off not commenting, as their comments just suggest that they'd rather pay someone to have their baby than spend time conceiving themselves.

Is 39 classed as an 'older woman' now? Blimey.

MumUndone · 22/01/2022 17:44

Maybe the real reason is that he's impotent.

BitcherOfBlakiven · 22/01/2022 17:47

Her fifth surrogacy Sad

It’s exploitation and I’m sick of people sticking their heads in the sand about it.

oncemoreunto · 22/01/2022 17:50

It is child trafficking.

The buying and selling of vulnerable new born babies.

With fewer restrictions than are present for the buying and selling of kittens and puppies.

Biologically it is old.
