Usually it’s all very run of the mill but there’ve been a couple of interesting ones today, The latest one is a post asking if anyone knows why M & S chicken pies have pork in them. I’m off to read the replies and to learn more :)

Our local nextdoor is having a day off from politics today…have been lots of Tory stuff defending our poor PM 😂
Today three cafe parking posts in my top 5 news digest 🥱

dubyalass · 21/01/2022 12:38

I briefly joined after the letter through the door and then got so many emails telling me about Joyce in Crapping Binford introducing herself or Trev from Titface-On-Sea spamming everyone with his exercise classes and dubious sense of humour that I deleted my account. Except I didn't, I'd only deactivated it and the emails kept coming. Finally worked out how to delete it and now peace reigns again. Dreadful.

PickAChew · 21/01/2022 12:46

@SequinnedShawl

Plus one of the Leads on there regularly posts xenophobic, racist or sexist jokes with the comment "scroll by if you have no sense of humour" Hmm
Reporting the posts might get you nowhere (unless the other leads are sick of this person and would gladly vote the posts away if they were made aware - a lot of leads were simply grandfathered in when ND arrived in their area and are inactive or unsuitable) but you can report the lead through their profile and that goes directly to ND admin rather than to local leads and mods.

Ooh this isn't the newest post but yesterday we had someone complaining that a famous TV star (with the initials SB) swanned into the dentist and immediately got appointments for her 4 sons despite the poster being told there were no appointments until April!! Scandalous!

KittenKong · 21/01/2022 13:14

‘I’ve lost my cat’
‘I found a dead cat - hope it’s not yours’
Shock

Also ‘someone shoved crab sticks through my letterbox spiked with needles - I have a cat’

And my local local one:
LOOK AT MY NEW PUPPY!!

And lost of people looking for cleaners.

Emanchego · 21/01/2022 13:16

Think it's someone trying to make money setting up local area groups when it already exists on facebook.

KittenKong · 21/01/2022 15:57

Now someone has been accused of stealing a rabbit…

Lots of people looking for cleaners and lots of people offering personal training.

Someone seems to be advertising lip ballooning (not sure what you call it) and is being called out for being an ‘abomination to god’. She says that she ‘can’t comply with his believes’. Someone else said they are ‘fab hum’ and someone else has announced that they look like a ‘fish face’.

High brow debate around these ‘ere parts.

emmathedilemma · 21/01/2022 16:14

wow so I just joined out of curiosity and that was underwhelming. Sadly no local scandal that I can find. Latest is someone looking for a big box to package a bike.

Giveaschitt · 21/01/2022 16:19

Someone moaning about dog mess. And a warning about a really obvious gumtree scam...

Are we talking someone who’s very good at DIY here?!

@KittenKong this one sounds vaguely familiar - did the person bury the dead cat?

"Has anybody lost a large duck"!

Makes a change from cats and dogs.

Wendyer · 21/01/2022 16:41

And who has accused who of stealing a rabbit, and what has the response been?!

OP posts:
Rattysparklebum · 21/01/2022 16:45

We have a naturist on ours claiming naturism is a belief and therefore a protected characteristic and is being discriminated against by his very long, ranting posts being removed, he is also trying to get local venues sympathetic to his cause agree to hold naturist meetings at their premises 🙄

KittenKong · 21/01/2022 16:50

@Wendyer

They didn’t say what happened to the poor cat…

Someone bought a (live) rabbit at the end of last year, who is now saying that they have stolen the rabbit (I assume trying to say that they didn’t pay for it). The buyer says she has no receipt. The seller says she has no evidence of payment and wants the rabbit back. Buyer says no way…

PeskyRooks · 21/01/2022 18:35

Hmm I think it could be a husky voiced diy personality yes

LemonandGingerTeafor2 · 22/01/2022 01:30

All very boring
Looking for a exercise classes etc.

Someone drove off with their handbag on the boot of their car and it fell off and now seeing if anyone found it.

On the local police Facebook page though there is an appeal with a picture for someone the police are looking for about a serious assault.
The actual person they are looking for is goading the police to come find him in the comments, his friends are joining in, and making plans for his birthday as the police won't find him.
I have no words, despicable human

MouseholeCat · 22/01/2022 02:12

I live in the US in a liberal city that's in the middle of a very red bible belt state and Nextdoor is a total battleground as a result.

The most recent post is someone quoting various bible passages, followed by someone getting very angry about people not shoveling the sidewalks outside of their houses as we have a lot of snow right now.

Oh, and a decade ago older residents voted to create a law against the city using wheelie bins for its rubbish collection service, which is terrible and needs modernising. It's an incredibly divisive issue and causes a lot of fights on Nextdoor.

Emmelina · 22/01/2022 02:13

The one at the top right now opens with
“Tan coloured dog found deceased by side of X road, warden notified”
Followed by
“I saw that earlier, it’s a large ginger cat not a dog.”
Then the plot thickened further:
“I live along there, it’s actually a fox.”

@Emmalina your neighbours need a trip to spec savers! Which reminds me, there was a post earlier in the week complaining about what a rip off they are!

Someone saying that a ‘theif’ stole their bike from the local train station and her son saw the ‘theif’ outside a shop with the bike so he promptly took it off him. I was cheering!

mirabellemadrigal · 05/02/2022 20:50

Round our way, people love
Moaning about dog poo and posting photos of the offending steaming pile of shit for evidence

Redcrayons · 05/02/2022 21:04

Mine is all ads. Don’t think there’s anything exciting going on.
Facebook is where it’s at round here.

bruffin · 23/02/2022 21:01

I wouldn't touch Nextdoor at all. It's a very dodgy site

thedarkling · 24/02/2022 02:53

Just checked and mine is someone saying they've blocked a 'fat-shaming' personal trainer.
