I hate my body shape. It makes buying clothes so difficult, and I always look huge Sad

Are there any other pear shapes here? How do you dress to minimise the hips?

You could bulk up shoulders and bust. I wear a balconette type bra with foam cups, which really helps. V neck, some structure at the shoulder.

Also, empire line tunics help.

Skater dresses or skirts. High waisted trousers. Do you know your actual measurements?

Beautiful small waist Envy. Could look amazing with the right dressing.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/01/2022 20:26

I’m not quite as pear shaped as you look in that photo, but my tactic is to embrace it! You have a lovely slim waist, so why not emphasise that? I wear a lot of high waisted bottoms with tucked in or slightly cropped (sitting on the waist band, not flashing my tummy or anything) tops. Empire line or floaty things look terrible on me.

BeyondMyWits · 12/01/2022 20:27

You have a lovely waist, so would echo a PP, high waisted trousers or skater dresses

whenwillthemadnessend · 12/01/2022 20:28

I have massive boobs and small hips so I envy your shape.

I'd swop in a heartbeat. Not helpful I know but I too never feel slim

Havilland · 12/01/2022 20:28

Shoulder pads. Not the big ones from the 80s but small ones that you can discreetly attach inside jackets, blouses and tops.

SalsaLove · 12/01/2022 20:37

Your figure is really feminine and lovely. You can look to balance things out by wearing darker colours on the bottom and lighter colours on top. A boatneck top, actually a Breton, would work well on you.

FurryAntiWaxer · 12/01/2022 20:39

You have a small waist and look slim overall. Bulk up your top half with heavier tops and larger sleeves. High waisted trousers and flippy skirts show off your waist.

Ffsjustltb · 12/01/2022 20:41

Wrap dresses with a cinched waist would look fantastic on you. You have a fantastic figure.v

elbea · 12/01/2022 20:43

I have a similar shape with a small waist, I only wear dresses that emphasise my waist. Lots of really nice wrap dresses with a slightly puffier sleeve to create balance. The only time I ever wear trousers is if I’m working on a farm, the rest of the time floaty dresses or skirts.

DontTellThemYourNamePike · 12/01/2022 21:29

I would kill dead things for your waist! I used to be pear shaped before the menopause, then gradually changed fruits to a rather rotund apple.

I say embrace the pear. It's a very healthy shape with low fat around the tummy and waist. I honestly wouldn't be trying to balance things out with bulky tops or shoulder pads. Just emphasise your neat midriff. For what it's worth, I think you look fabulous.

RobertSmithsLipstick · 12/01/2022 21:33

I'd love to be your shape!
It's very womanly.
I'm spacehopper shaped. Sad

ShirleyPhallus · 12/01/2022 21:36

That’s a very fashionable shape right now, embrace it!

buzzing · 12/01/2022 21:40

Gosh, you have an amazing figure. No idea on how to dress it, sorry, but make sure you embrace it and love it

Riverlee · 12/01/2022 21:43

Yes a pear. There’s a few simple tricks to dressing for our shape. Basically, darker, plainer bottom halves, and brighter, more interesting tops.

Trousers - bootcut, flares, - may not be considered the trendiest shapes but suit us, also sone skinnies, high rise waists is a must, wear darker, plainer designs

Tops - Not v-necks, wear Bardot tops, high neck, patterned tops, etc, The idea is to draw the attention upwards.

Dresses - fit and flare, maxi dress, shift dress. Again, not a v-neck top, but higher necks, a-line skirts etc

The idea is to draw

MsMeNz · 12/01/2022 21:46

I am, but I ahve a bit of a tummy too. Tbh I'd kill for your shape!

But as a pear it is aas other have said bout drawing balance to the top. So I have large boobs but a tiny back and shoulders so jackets with shoulder pads and wide v necks tops and with your small waist you can that pull off nipped into waist llooks like skater dresses to give you an hour glass look.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 12/01/2022 21:47

I think you have a beautiful shape which I know isn't helpful, but there must be ways to dress/styles that look amazing Smile

TheRealProfessorYaffle · 12/01/2022 21:47

Me me me! I am almost exactly that shape, but a little bigger on the thigh. I wear square neck tops a fair amount, with skirts with fitted waists. Alllll my trousers have to be taken in at the waist, but other than the hassle of finding good clothes, I really appreciate my shape. I feel curvalicious and have really made friends with my body rather than fighting to be a shape I'm not. Good luck x

BestIsWest · 12/01/2022 21:55

I used to be exactly your shape. Wish I still was. Embrace it. Boat neck or wide neck tops, wide leg trousers, flared skirts. Show off that waist.

It’s also a very healthy shape waist to hip ratio

RowanAlong · 12/01/2022 22:02

Lovely figure. Definitely just wear wrap dresses all the time as they will show off your waist.

WildflowerWildfire · 12/01/2022 22:03

Oh my goodness, so many lovely comments - thank you. Lots of great tips here. I wish I had the boobs to match the rest of my curves but unfortunately I don’t Grin

I’m wanting to change my style up and finally buy clothes that flatter my shape after losing weight so thought here would be a good place to start for advice Smile

I love a pear shape!!
I would give anything for be small on top and larger on the bottom.
I feel like anything would look good on you.

I have large hips and bum but also large boobs and a small waist so nothing fits properly and everything looks really bad. It takes a long time to find anything decent to wear and I can only shop in certain places.
If I had the money I would have a boob reduction so I could have a similar shape to you.
