Phrases you hate reading on mumsnet

I’ve been on mumsnet for about 18 years and you know what, if I read about people putting ducks in a row once more I might go mental.
What phrase do you hate.

@Ohmycron

I read and run all the time. Largely because the post is fucking boring
😂😂😂
HoldingTheDoor · 08/01/2022 13:32

I assume that it refers to those times when a small amount of your stomach contents suddenly makes it way to your mouth?

MapleMay11 · 08/01/2022 13:32

Naice
Family money
Posh as a prefix to anything
Give your head wobble

theculture · 08/01/2022 13:32

Unmumsnetty hugs

Most people posting seem perfectly kind to people in stressful and sad situations- not sure why there is this trope that it is odd to be sympathetic

furbabymama87 · 08/01/2022 13:32

I hate " you sound lovely" when we've only heard one side of the story and it's someone feeling sorry for themselves, nothing to indicate that they are in fact lovely. And the reverse " you sound horrible/ hard work". Again, it's just based on one situation. You don't know these people. Let's just accept no one knows anything about anyone on the Internet or if these threads are even made up or true.

ilovesooty · 08/01/2022 13:32

I've found my people
Snuggle
Cosy
Little family
Traditions
Sainsbos
Picky tea
Grim (lazy and overused)

StillNo · 08/01/2022 13:33

‘No is a complete sentence.’

It’s not in real life though, is it?

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2022 13:33

'You're getting a hard time here OP' when the OP has been unreasonable for pages.

MapleMay11 · 08/01/2022 13:34

Leafy suburb - for me this conjures up visions of overcrowded, polluted, congested urban hellhole

ilovesooty · 08/01/2022 13:34

End of

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2022 13:35

'Oh sweetie' . Probably meant kindly but very cringey.

FlabCrab · 08/01/2022 13:36

@Ohmycron

The only thread that has made me laugh for ages is that sex one, I’m laughing now as I type this, where she ended up with shit on the headboard
This -www.mumsnet.com/Talk/parenting/a2307274-I-am-everything-you-hate-about-people-on-the-internet-I-am-here-to-help

…is my favourite thread of all time I think. The responses are just pure gold, it was like old days mumsnet when posters were 90% witty and 10% angry and woke (now reversed). If you didn’t see it at the time you’re in for a treat.

AgathaAllAlong · 08/01/2022 13:36

My absolute most hated expression is "gaslightinging" for when someone's husband disagrees with them, or for when he's trying to convince them of something they don't think happened. Gaslighting means systematically trying to make someone believe that they are insane!

I like PFB, it perfectly captures that over the top, my baby is the center of the world that parents get first time round.

Yes with the very occasional tall tree Grin
HerBigChance · 08/01/2022 13:36

As soon as 'Friend A' and 'Friend B' get a mention I'm out. Because there'' soon be C and D and I just cannot be bothered.

Yep. Simply cannot be bothered with this and it's always in tandem with an unnecessarily long and complicated OP.

Dogmum40 · 08/01/2022 13:37

I don’t know why but cocklodger makes me cringe, akin to nails down a blackboard for me! It’s overused in most relationship issue threads oh and LTB!! Arghhh just stop!

Mrsjayy · 08/01/2022 13:37

I always think of an 80s comedy when somebody says leafy suburb!

Unmumsnetty hugs

The hug thing is left from the very early days of mumsnet when its acerbic style was being taken over by Huns who put kisses everywhere.
OP posts:
MapleMay11 · 08/01/2022 13:38

@Sparklingbrook yes, exactly that Grin

LetHimHaveIt · 08/01/2022 13:38

Goady.
Grabby.
Judgy.

All the made-up bs.

HoldingTheDoor · 08/01/2022 13:38

I'll second the poster who said selfish and vile. I'm so tired of seeing everything and everyone being described as selfish.

You want to eat something more than your daily allowance of government provided gruel? Selfish.

You'd like your toddler to be occasionally allowed to play with another child. Selfish and vile.

You would like to have the occasional haircut so that you don't turn resemble Cousin Itt's even more hirsute sibling? Selfish, vile and disgusting.

Visit your 90 year old Grandmother knowing that this might be her last Christmas. You are despicable.

It's very tedious.

Mummytosufie12 · 08/01/2022 13:38

Haha @Sparklingbrook Smile

I don’t have an issue with people crossing to live in the countryside more the phrase ‘living rurally’.

I also now live in the countryside about 30 mins from the nearest town and it is great. Grin

Surbiton like in The Good Life. Or wherever they lived in Butterflies?
PPCD · 08/01/2022 13:39

@LagerthaofKattegat

Think.

As in “a hobby, think crocheting “

You mean

“A hobby, similar to /like, for example, crocheting “
