I’ve been on mumsnet for about 18 years and you know what, if I read about people putting ducks in a row once more I might go mental.
What phrase do you hate.

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 08/01/2022 13:12

*hate when people say NOW

Police. NOW
999 NOW 😡*

Me too it is just irritating.

EnrouteNOTonroute · 08/01/2022 13:12

@Thatsplentyjack

People calling themselves "myself" but that's not just on mn. I've even head it in songs. Just say ME or I ffs!
Omg I know right!!! Why has this become a thing???
Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2022 13:12

'Discuss' there was one of those this morning. It's mucking about on MN not A Level English exam. Hmm

Loads in the Coronavirus topic, all very dramatic (sorry @Quarks69) and unnecessary. All the bodies piling up and letting it rip etc It is MB Bingo over there.

'I mean this kindly' always indicates something not meant kindly at all.

PaulGallico · 08/01/2022 13:12

Hello ladies...
and yes to - did you mean to be so rude?....

Charliealphatangorara · 08/01/2022 13:12

Ducks in a row
Just that really

LizBennet · 08/01/2022 13:12

Oh God yes, 'Police. Now.'
I think it's the full stop that annoys me more than the command.

HoldingTheDoor · 08/01/2022 13:13

Or people giving there children's age in months. " my 48 month old". Eh, you mean your 4 year old!

I agree. I'll allow it until the child is 2 but it should stop after that.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 08/01/2022 13:13

Fur babies. 🤮.

And another vote for 'naice'

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2022 13:13

I've not really encountered 'Ducks in a row' much, I assume that's in Relationships prior to LTB? I have that topic hidden.

HoldingTheDoor · 08/01/2022 13:14

"What's not to like?"makes me positively murderous.

HailAdrian · 08/01/2022 13:15

Not phrases but 'selfish,' 'stupid', 'selfish and stupid' and 'vile.' Just shut the fuck up lol.

liveforsummer · 08/01/2022 13:15

@LizBennet

Oh God yes, 'Police. Now.' I think it's the full stop that annoys me more than the command.
Usually the post has moved on and been solved by the time they say it too. Like a woman they other week unwell at home. A&E now was still being posted 3 days after the op had indeed gone to hospital and been admitted
SaltedCaramelIcedLatte · 08/01/2022 13:15

@eddiemairswife

"Didn't want to read and run." by people who have nothing to say, but want to sound sympathetic, (and see their name on the screen)
This really annoys me
NoOtherShadeOfBlue · 08/01/2022 13:16

'We've lost sight of what a normal weight is' - on every thread to do with food or weight.

'Imagine if the sexes were reversed' always delivered as a smug gotcha even though it rarely applies the way they think it does.

liveforsummer · 08/01/2022 13:17

Straw man is a new one. I mean I know it's not a new phrase but I saw someone use it for the first time on mumsnet a couple of months ago and now it's everywhere. Not sure why it annoys me so much that people have jumped on it

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2022 13:17

I disagree about 'Didn't want to read and run' I look at it that someone has seen a post that has had no replies, doesn't know what to say or how to help but acknowledged the thread and simultaneously bumped it for people that can help.

FelicityPike · 08/01/2022 13:17

I hate be kind.

“ it’s my first post, so be kind”…….no, if you’re needing told you’re an abuse then I will tell you!

Bugger off.

WorraLiberty · 08/01/2022 13:18

When someone says "I didn't want to read and run"

I always think, 'well no, you'd more than likely smack into a lamp post'...

BoredZelda · 08/01/2022 13:18

'Let's call them ..,' as in 'my friends, let's call them Claire and Alice'. Don't know why but it gives me the rage!

I like this phrase because it makes spotting trolls really easy.

BoredZelda · 08/01/2022 13:20

“Think”

Think threads that say “they were on an expensive holiday, think St Moritz”

RedRec · 08/01/2022 13:20

Over-reference to 'hilarious' things that weren't even that funny in the first place. For example: snapped and farted, Sistine Chapel screamer, T-Rexing in the supermarket.

Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2022 13:20

As soon as 'Friend A' and 'Friend B' get a mention I'm out. Because there'' soon be C and D and I just cannot be bothered.

LizBennet · 08/01/2022 13:20

@WorraLiberty

When someone says "I didn't want to read and run"

I always think, 'well no, you'd more than likely smack into a lamp post'...

That's all I'll think of now every time I read it 🤣
PuppyMonkey · 08/01/2022 13:21

Bun fight is a well known phrase, it wasn’t invented on MN.Confused

FanGirlX · 08/01/2022 13:22

@donkey86

‘Picky bits’ eurgh
This is terrible. Picnic is ok, I think it must come from picnic but I've never heard picky bits anywhere other than Mumsnet.
