Am I a keyboard warrior ?

Some of my very best and most eloquent thoughts are at my fingertips !

I recently had a trip away. It was not cheap. I was disappointed with the awful food, which to me, is important when you are on holiday.
The actual accommodation itself was good in parts but not so much in others. It was warm and cosy but not overly clean.
If it had cost less money I would not have felt the same but because of the price I felt expected better.
The thing is.. I was happy to pay that amount. I was confident it would all be lovely. I anticipated a certain level of service and they failed to deliver.

I reviewed it on TripAdvisor. I did not slaughter them by any means. I pointed out what they could do to improve.

Does this make me a bully, or is reviewing an establishment negatively 'par for the course' ?

Offering constructive criticism and making others aware of what to expect is the point of trip advisor.

Did you actually discuss your complaints with a manager or someone when you were there though?

WalkersAreNotTheOnlyCrisps · 07/01/2022 13:26

Is "awful food" poor choice or badly cooked?
As said, that's what Trip Advisor is for 🤷🏼‍♀️

Anordinarymum · 07/01/2022 13:28

We were there for two nights only. Our time was precious. I made one complaint upon arrival and the attitude they displayed was one of annoyance.
If I had listed everything that was wrong we would have been arguing the whole time so no.
It was not a horrible stay but it was not worth the money they charge and I think they already knew hence the way they behaved when I politely told them something was broken.

What a weird question.

You know what 'bullying' means, right?

'Crucified' is the correct description !

Nothing weird about it.

Of course it's weird.

Do you see everyone who leaves negative reviews as bullies?

Eh? Crucified is either nailing someone to a cross or criticising something very harshly.

The food at breakfast was crucified. Thanks for your input

Perhaps OP meant cremated?

No it's not weird. I asked a question. I do believe some people who review are bullies who want a refund or a discount I do not want anything from them.

OFGS Yes!

Just trying to understand what you meant Hmm

Nothing wrong in complaining about burnt foid, dirty accommodation and broken items. Can I ask why you might think there is?

loudbatperson · 07/01/2022 13:39

If it is genuine feedback then it's not "bullying" or being "a keyboard warrior".

I wouldn't say people were being pedantic over the word crucified though, it means something very different to what was meant.

Chanandlerbong1 · 07/01/2022 13:39

Why on earth would this make you a bully? Who are you bullying exactly? The hotel might not even read the comments made by you anyway.
The point of trip advisor is to post a review. And that’s what you did.

NiceShrubbery · 07/01/2022 13:39

You're overthinking OP.

Negative reviewers help save money and avoid disappointing experiences :)
Personally I rely heavily on TripAdvisor and TrustPilot. I find the mix of negative and positive really helps me make a decision. And if it's all negative then it's a no-brainer.

Hope your next trip is a positive experience!

theNumbersStation · 07/01/2022 13:40

I suspect you might be right worra

Unless they nailed some fried eggs to a plate.

Winniemarysarah · 07/01/2022 13:41

As long as it’s factual then it’s fine. I do make of point of listing any good things as well as the bad when leaving a generally bad review.
And it wasn’t that obvious that you meant cremated.

WorraLiberty · 07/01/2022 13:41

No it's not weird. I asked a question. I do believe some people who review are bullies who want a refund or a discount I do not want anything from them.

So why are you asking if the review you left made you a bully or a keyboard warrior?

theNumbersStation · 07/01/2022 13:41

Cross post.

But hardly pedantic.

WorraLiberty · 07/01/2022 13:42

Loving the irony of a 'cross' post Blush

I did point out the good things but I also made mention of the negatives. I did feel a bit mean, but how will they improve if people don't complain ?

I did not think to look on Tripadvisor before booking which if I had done I would probably have swerved the place.

Yes, my next trip is coming up soon and I hope it is. Thanks :)

Ideally, we would be able yo read your review so we can see how harsh you may have been in your wording... considering the mix-up between "crucified" and "cremated" in this thread, I can't help but wonder if you might have got anything mixed up in your review too which can affect the meaning or tone.
