Elle Darby's old tweets

197 replies

AdultCat · 02/01/2022 23:16

I don't follow Elle Darby but am aware of her on Instagram. I came across her on TikTok after loads of her old tweets have been shared. So hateful and angry, the tweets are really nasty.
Has anyone else seen them? She's turned all her comments off and seems to be staying quiet!

Whenever this happens I find the apologies just make things worse.

They aren’t sincere and they go overboard with all the fake saying sorry.

They still have those same views and are only sorry that it’s come back to bite them.

GuiltyPleasure · 03/01/2022 15:02

Anyone that continues to follow her IMO is supporting and condoning her vile behaviour.
This includes some relatively well known tv personalities. I have little expectation of other Influencers to be seen to stand against this disgusting behaviour, as they're all morally corrupt in one way or another.
However, none of these people will do anything unless it significantly affects their own follower numbers, which I sincerely hope it does, but the majority will ignore it.

Agree, and she didn't actually say sorry once, just asked for forgiveness

It's just indicative of our society though isn't it. A not very bright, poorly educated person being held up as some kind of role model. I only know of her as she pops up on my recommended page a lot and I always think she looks absolutely terrible due to the amount of surgery she's had and I wonder who actually wants to look like that?! I find it so perplexing, honestly.

@WalkersAreNotTheOnlyCrisps

Just looked her up, gormless looking vile cow.
Don't stoop
AdultCat · 03/01/2022 15:58

IMO it just showed what a spoilt, entitled madam she was brought up to be. The way she spoke about her mum, her sister and her family pets proves what a brat she was, and probably still is.

Don't know who she is so I've just looked her up. This is why I hate the worshipping of social media influencers. There is not one out there who I think is a decent person.

Refrosty · 03/01/2022 16:17

Ewwww. I've watched a few of her travel videos, they seemed harmless. Nope, she's harmfully stupid. Who didn't she offend?!

She's got a degree, hasn't she? She's bright enough to "build a brand" and make a small fortune off it.

She's come from privilege and money (even if that was because her father stole it!) and clearly has enough nouse to scam thousands of people into believing she's a pleasant person.

She (or her management!) should have the brains to either delete the stuff that would make her look bad, or preferably, not think her inane, racist, homophobic, disablist thoughts deserved to be put onto the Internet for all to see. She's been an "influencer" for years, she should have known better than to assume that the Internet isn't forever.

Her dad is one of the Enron three. I don’t think she had the best teenage years. Maybe lots of lashing out was done due to her situation. I’m not making excuses for her because her behaviour was vile, but sometimes people behave that way when they are hurting.

Lots and lots of us didn't have the best teenage years. It's absolutely no excuse whatsoever for the racism, homophobia, xenophobia or animal abuse she blithely spouted. Utterly vile individual. It doesn't matter how much you're 'hurting', you don't say that stuff ever if you're at all decent.
NHSmummy84 · 03/01/2022 17:48

Exactly, I did say that her behaviour was vile. I was basically pointing out that she hasn’t had the best teenage years, coupled with a morally bankrupt father who ended up in prison for fraud, in another country. Obviously she wasn’t taught how to conduct herself properly. It’s the same with bullies for example…they lash out and treat others badly, often because they are hurting themselves. They direct the hurt they feel onto others in anger.

My dad sold drugs and was in prison. Didn't turn me into a racist and homophobe. We need to own our mistakes and not blame everyone else except ourselves for shitty behaviour.

@fancydressinggown

Clemmie Hooper part 2!
That’s the one, was trying to remember who it was. Is she still going? Bet she is! She’s a midwife as well, sure I saw a book from her being advertised on Amazon recently.
Isababybel · 03/01/2022 18:22

@ComDummings

They always get away with it though
Indeed, just like Zoella did when her homophobic tweets from a similar time period were unearthed! All swept under the carpet now.
Sharpie0870 · 03/01/2022 18:36

She's utterly vile. Hope she loses thousands of followers.

backonceagain79 · 03/01/2022 20:34

I'm glad to see her followers are going down and down. Vile human.

BoodleBug51 · 03/01/2022 20:39

DD told me about this, I'd never heard of her.

I have no sympathy. Yes she was young, but all of that content could and should have been deleted the moment she decided she wanted to be an "influencer".

I would deliberately avoid a product if the manufacturer had paid some trout lipped faked tanned wannabe to promote it.

CallMeNutribullet · 03/01/2022 20:48

I'm not of the opinion that nasty things said on social media when you're a child should ruin your life, which would include ruining your career.

It's hate speech, which is illegal. She was 17, old enough to know better.
SuperWoofing · 03/01/2022 20:56

God I hate the current fashion of self righteous mobs finding someone who's said something awful on twitter (like thousands of people do every day..) and then frothing and hounding them. Just ignore her + she'll go away. God it's like some people haven't left school. And the mob members always say "I don't agree with cancelling people but this person must be cancelled".

You hate that people are calling out racism and saying racist people shouldn't be in the public eye?
SuperWoofing · 03/01/2022 21:14

No, I've never heard of this woman, I posted what I meant, which is I find groups of (presumably adults since you're on Mumsnet) forming online mobs to try and destroy people quite disturbing. If a teenager commits a crime do you think they should have that hanging over them for the rest of their lives or would you hope they mature, realise what they did was wrong and move on? Seriously, your behaviour is fucked up, and you all feed off each others self righteous fury. Horrible.
