Who the hell are their buyers. Who in their right mind things faux leather shorts are suitable clothes for 4 year old girls. Can we stop with the sexualised clothing for little girls. its just fucking awful
What 4 year old girls need are hard wearin,g comfortable shorts in a decent length, with pockets for their toys not hooker pants.

People get offended by everything nowadays. Are we going to start cancelling clothes?

mafted · 02/01/2022 17:03

My 20yo niece wears jeans, a t shirt and Toms to go clubbing, as do many of her peers these days. Best not dress my kids the same lest anyone mistake them for actual club-goers
It's not about people mistaking them for clubbers though is it Hmm the reason your niece and friends are wearing the jeans etc is probably because they're far nicer to wear and more comfortable than the shorts or similar outfits which is great. I was only saying to DD the other day when I first started clubbing you wouldn't get in wearing jeans and trainers.

If these shorts are as amazingly comfortable, stylish and practical as posters on here are falling over themselves to say they are why isn't everyone wearing them all day long?

@homealoneagain1
I am going to get them for my DD!

People are wearing them all day long??!! I have seen loads of people wearing them as a nice going out outfit or party outfit for Younger children in the summer etc etc they are as normal as normal can be as popular as jeans leggings trousers skirts and dresses
minniep · 02/01/2022 17:24

My nine year old would love these. She'd wear them with her docs boots and thick tights and think she was amazing 😀😀😀.

Really? I've hardly ever seen anyone wearing pleather shorts anywhere certainly not on children in the summer.

They are winter fashion tbf.
Lulu1919 · 02/01/2022 17:57

No just NO -hideous and not children's clothing

Snugglepumpkin · 02/01/2022 18:04

Most people would think I'm seriously uptight but I can easily imagine a little girl happily wearing these with a chunky pair of knitted tights & a jumper.

These are being sold in January, so I can't imagine they are expecting someone to wear them without tights under them.

It might not be what I'd pick but I wouldn't have an issue with them on a child.

I'd have far more of an issue if they had Be Kind written across the backside.

Annoyedandirritated · 02/01/2022 18:07

I quite like them Blush

mafted · 02/01/2022 18:09

I'm thinking pp was talking about shorts in general. I've hardly seen anyone in pleather shorts in any season but maybe I just live in an odd place for fashion as no-one I know has worn Toms for a good five years or more but another poster said that's what 20 year old clubbers are wearing.

StationaryMagpie · 02/01/2022 18:16

sexualising children?

Would anyone seriously look at a small child wearing these with tights and pixie boots and think the child looks sexy?

IF you do, i suggest you check your OWN thoughts.

They're shorts, are they too short? yes. Are they impractical? Absolutely. Will they make a child looks 'sexy' or more mature than their years.. of course they fucking won't.. they'll look like a child in a pair of shorts.

i cannot stand people who accuse clothes of 'sexualising' children.. clothes don't, people do.

And don't even get me started on calling them 'hooker shorts' gross. ew.

I think trends circulate because parents dress their kids in the same style clothes they wore in their youth.

I do wish I'd kept my 90s clothes as they'd be worth a fortune now. The emerging trend seems to be 80s shell suits though so expect to see those on the rails in the High Street soon.

I did have a pair of leather hot pants in my 20s and it is like walking back in time when I go to the supermarket and see what's on trend currently.

Branleuse · 02/01/2022 18:27

Surely theyd wear these with tights and a fancy top for a party

It may come as a shock to you but there’s people in the world you’ve never met and just because you haven’t seen something happen it doesn’t mean it isn’t

Still waiting to find out what the “shorts sexualise children” brigade dress their kids in in a heatwave

I went to a bar a few weeks ago and more than one woman was wearing platform shoes!! It made me really regret throwing mine out in my early 20’s
AlDanvers · 02/01/2022 19:33

Can you explain how these aren't children's clothing?

I was referring to a pp who said that the shorts were as popular as jeans or skirts for example. I'm not a hermit, if the shorts are as fashionable as people are saying surely by the very definition of fashion they'd be popular and we'd all be seeing them on every other person.
Give yourself a coconut for the witty sarcasm though Hmm
