Who the hell are their buyers. Who in their right mind things faux leather shorts are suitable clothes for 4 year old girls. Can we stop with the sexualised clothing for little girls. its just fucking awful
What 4 year old girls need are hard wearin,g comfortable shorts in a decent length, with pockets for their toys not hooker pants.

@ThirdElephant no more slippery than socks...
(Never could find trousers that fit my DD properly!)

Caramellatteplease · 02/01/2022 07:04

I looked at that and thought woolen tights underneath and you have a highly warm tree climbing option. Sparkly tights and it's a party. With it being faux leather it will be quite warm and if it's the right type of faux leather rather hard wearing and practical

Usually I agree with these threads but those shorts, it suspect it is how you wear them

Caramellatteplease · 02/01/2022 07:09

Wouldn't tights be very slippery when trying to climb up soft play equipment? I'd put mine in trousers

Not at all and mine found trousers often very restrictive (can be quite sensory).

It was also cheap. She could use the same shorts all year round and a three pack of tights cost about the same as one pair of trousers.

If it's cold enough for trousers, it's cold enough for shorts and tights.

Why would you use the term hooker pants? How derogatory to women.

AiryFairy1 · 02/01/2022 07:13

My issue with girls shorts in general (& mentioned upthread 👆🏽) is they’re just not practical - usually too short, often too tight. And to dress them as children (as someone queried 👆🏽)… to me that means in natural comfy, breathable fabrics, light/ bright colours that allow them to move easily.

EishetChayil · 02/01/2022 07:20

Children should be able to wear whatever clothing without anyone have to fear some pervert is looking.

Well, yes. Obviously they should. But there are nonces and perverts bloody everywhere so personally I'm not going to take the risk.

Quick word to the "cool mums" - you won't get points for being "right-on" and oh-so liberal with your "who cares! It's just material". You're just in denial about the sort of world we live in.

PinkButtercups · 02/01/2022 07:20

@jabmeupthe

I really prefer my own children to just dress up as children as we get such short childhood time with them. They have many years ahead of them to dress up like adults, let them be kids.
Second this. I had a friend who wouldn't dress her kids in character clothing because it was tacky apparently. Now the child wears knee high socks and short shorts or a little skirt Sad.
LoudSnoringDog · 02/01/2022 07:24

My DD (8) would love these shirts with thick tights and a polo jumper and boots

Caramellatteplease · 02/01/2022 07:34

natural comfy, breathable fabrics, light/ bright colours that allow them to move easily.

Natural fabrics often weren't durable enough for my two and way too expensive if DD put a hole in the knee on a regular basis. DD climbed a good many trees in boots and tights. She preferred a lot of black and purple (the colour doesn't change how moveable an item is). Neither of us were a fan of light colours as they didnt stay light for long!!!

A pair of shorts like this would have saved an argument over wearing a skirt to smarten up seeing granny. And she could still climb the tree.

GoodnightGrandma · 02/01/2022 07:37

I don’t think they any more sexualised than denim.
I’ve seen some kids walking round in very short denim shorts, but that seems to be ok.

Sunbird24 · 02/01/2022 07:39

Pleather shorts would be rubbish for soft play, they’d have too much friction to slide down the slides.

Dozer · 02/01/2022 07:46

People saying it’s fine: why are there no such items on sale ‘for boys’?

Retailers have a lot to answer for on girls clothing.

Caramellatteplease · 02/01/2022 07:49

I know of a fair few boys who wear shorts all year round because it's more comfortable.

BurntToastAgain · 02/01/2022 07:50

They’re not what I’d dress a child in. But I think people will buy them (and if Sainsbury’s are selling them, they’ll be everywhere). I fully expect my SD will have a pair of something similar shortly. Her mother’s taste is pretty much the exact opposite of what I’d choose in any situation. But I’m sure she thinks she’s the one with good taste, not me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Missey85 · 02/01/2022 07:51

If you don't like them don't buy them? The fact is a lot of mums would they wouldn't make them if no one was buying them

Dozer · 02/01/2022 07:53

Chicken and egg.

There's no many leather pants for men either, apart from bike leathers

So foes that make it the fault of women who buy leather?

If you want some for your son, then email them.

Having different things for boys and girls isn't new.

Do you think grey joggers equalise boys because if what's on social media about them?

Prescottdanni123 · 02/01/2022 07:53

Gross

Dozer · 02/01/2022 07:53

It’s sexist shite.

This. Glad someone else spotted it.

Not only is OP claiming such clothes is sexualising children, she’s also using misogynistic slurs to insult women who may wear them.

So you think perverts and nonces don't abuse children who don't wear shorts? Or leather?

Do you realise if you walk past a oervert or nonce with your child, they will probably have the same thought's regardless of what your child is wearing.

Sou ds suspiciously like 'dressed like that she was asking for it'

BigGreen · 02/01/2022 07:56

That's really grim.

Quick word to those who think they’re clever by using the words “cool mums”…you’re not. You’re judgmental and in fact come across superior and bitter.
GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 02/01/2022 08:00

I remember years ago seeing PVC miniskirts in the H&M kids' department that started at age 1-2. Hmm

Newyearnewme2022 · 02/01/2022 08:02

I don’t see it as sexualising girls I see it as fashion, you can buy equally short shorts for girls in denim, there’s no difference to me.
My dd is an adult now but I would have put her in these with thick tights, Chelsea boots and a jumper.
I don’t like the hooker reference either.
