Did loads yesterday all bedding etc so no wash ingredients today. Didn't know it was a thing that it was bad luck until a couple of years ago (from here)

My nan told me never to wash clothes on Good Friday, so I never have .

Not sure when I heard about NYD, but no longer do laundry on that day either.

NYD 2011 my DH put some washing on, that year my youngest DC was born and died. This made me more resolute in not doing washing either day. However, I lost my Dbro in 2020 and Ddad last year, despite not washing (of course mum/dsis may have, but I now realise it's nonsense).

I always knew it as washing a family member away!! Even more scary. I wash myself but I won’t put the washing machine on even though I know it’s rubbish really….

No. I know it's a load of nonsense but my grandmother always trotted this one out, she passed away unexpectedly in 2014 so I never do washing on new year's day just as a sort of nod to her.

I'm not but I normally would. My BF is always horrified when I do as she thinks it will wash away a member of the family. DH is having some tests at the moment so for the first time I'm listening to her and taking no risks
