Sleep if 100% off the cards. Had my knee replacement today, and fucking hell fire did I underestimate the pain. I had my hip replaced and stupidly thought it would be similar and I'd walk it. Turns out I was a dick to think that.

I'm lying on my side!! Think I overdid it trying to bend today so it's been singing at me for the past hour. But yeah, small wins... I'm on my side, albeit not very comfortable

Ooooooh amazing !

I’m a side sleeper so dreading the back sleeping

When I had the shoulder reconstruction I was on my back for 6 weeks in a sling and immobiliser. I remember just bawling in the end 😂
You asleep again now?

No.. my eyes feel like someone has blew sand in them. I will have to have 5 when the kids have gone to school. Definitely need some more painkillers this morning.

I am on the list for my shoulder. I need it done before I can have my elbow. I have seen how you need to keep it still rather than try and move it straight away like your leg!

Still not bending to 90 degrees, but my little floor pedal thing come today and j surprised myself how well I managed. It's killed me though so I'm elevating and icing now.

Was that what the physio recommended? Do they know it’s still swelling?

Look how far you have come since last week though!

I've not seen a physio since I left the hospital. First appointment is on Monday! They are all over a knee replacement group on FB I am on. I can't do more than a few as it absolutely kills my hip.

My staples came out today. It feels less uncomfortable this evening. But still swollen.

Go easy, OP.
Don't try to do it all at once.
Maybe go for a time limit where you feel no discomfort and have no extra swelling and then build up from there.
I feel sympathy for you. I have had to stop working due to a chronic health condition. I have no-one to help or guide me, yet I'm supposed to do 'graded exercise' according to an OH doctor that I spoke with recently. The support from the NHS just isn't there, but I hope you can access some. Thanks

QOD · 15/01/2022 03:18

I’m thinking on getting one. I know what I’m like tho for buying stuff and not using it
I have a pre op telephone physio appointment soon so I’ll ask

notapizzaeater · 15/01/2022 10:56

I didn't get a 90 degree bend for weeks and weeks, too much swelling. According to my physio 'the younger ones swell more'

I'm now 8 months on and still only have about 100 degrees but I seem to be able to do everything and it is still increasing - I noticed this week I could bend it more in bed when I was resting my iPad on it ! The daily pain is a distant memory,

I managed to leave the house yesterday for my youngest birthday. In a wheelchair, but it was still a good step forward. I am only doing 5 mins around mid day on the pedal thing. It hurts my hip too much and then I can't walk! The NHS needs so much more than it has.

Yeah it's worth an ask. I feel I can bend slightly better after a go on it I have to say. I aren't using my leg lifter anymore! Each day I am seeing a tiny improvement.

That is really encouraging. The nurse who took my staples out said I'm doing fine. I would be happy with around 90 - 100. That's all my other leg has and I can get by with that. Having no pain is the main aim

The Lego discovery centre in Manchester. The kids enjoyed it but I thought it was a lot of money for what was there. DP managed to push me round! It was a very different experience. First time I've ever been out in a wheelchair.

We used to love the idea of the Lego Discovery Centre. It starts off with a lot of promise. I liked the ride - the ghost train type one. But after you’ve been in the place for an hour it’s exhausting. I think it’s because it’s all inside with no windows.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 17/01/2022 15:16

Physio is happy! Seeing me again next week. I managed 90 with him! So happy 🙂

I know! I was on the American one first. And there are so many people on there that manage to bend and hop around on their operated leg by the end of the first week. The UK one is a lot more like what to expect.
