Best alcohol for no hangover

Best alcohol for no hangover? At a function at the weekend, long day, would like to have a few drinks but terrified of a hangover. Any tips?

OP posts:

Gin and tonic.

DartmoorChef · 31/12/2021 01:49

Gin. Or vodka if you like that basically a clear spirit and avoid wine or dark spirits

Champagneforeveryone · 31/12/2021 01:59

No alcohol sadly

Failing that, a good meal beforehand. Alternate alcoholic drinks with water or soft drinks. If you can get a non alcoholic version of what you're drinking so much the better. Ibuprofen, more water, Berocca and even more water before bed Wink

Lager shandy

For me, champagne. I'm still waiting for the hangover I deserve after starting at 0900 Christmas day Blush

Prosecco, alternate with water then take lots of vitamin c (5000 mg) before bed.

Your body secretes the excess vitamin c but it prevents the hangover.

RiverSkater · 31/12/2021 03:16

Oh and lining your stomach with cheese or full fat milk.

Or Mac and Cheese.

Xmasgetaway · 31/12/2021 03:21

Good quality champagne

Gin and tonic. The greater volume of water slows you down drinking it.

For me, anything that's not wine. Especially not red. And eating properly makes a huge difference. Thanks for the reminder before NYE OP!!!

AffIt · 31/12/2021 04:21

For me, rather weirdly, espresso martinis.

I appreciate that's not practical all day, so a clear spirit (for me, vodka and soda or tonic - gin gives terrible black-outs) interspersed with A LOT of water.

Don't touch wine, either red or white. And for the love of God, if you're me, no whisky.

Then at least a pint of water before bed, another pint of water for during the night, and another pint of water, a Berroca and a prophylactic Alka Seltzer first thing.

Also crisps.

Patron Silver Tequila or if you have the cash, Patron Platinum Tequila. One of the purest forms of alcohol and absolutely devine

itspartytime · 31/12/2021 05:00

I drink elderflower drinks in champagne flutes if I want to keep a pretence of 'drinking ' while not actually. Used to just do this for work functions, but now do it most of the time as I prefer to stay level headed and not feel shite the next day etc .

UserError012345 · 31/12/2021 06:10

I don't think any alcohol is worth the hangover.

lightisnotwhite · 31/12/2021 07:05

Low alcohol.
Gin/ vodka and tonic is good because you can just add more tonics.

I’d agree with avoid wine and champagne. Is easy to have a couple of glasses too many and a Abv could be anything from 11 to 13.5 or more if red wine.

Two aspirin and a pint of water BEFORE bed.

That's fair enough but not really what op is asking is it? They've said they would like to have a few drinks.

MrsDThomas · 31/12/2021 07:12

Avoid prosecco. It will give you one headache and a mouth like sandpaper.

Vodka and tonic. Lots of tonic.

HelloDulling · 31/12/2021 07:14

Gin or vodka for me. No wine.

HeyMicky · 31/12/2021 07:17

Champagne. Alternate with water as PP have said

Before bed, have plenty of water and some dioralyte. Glass of sugary squash by the bed for your 3am wee. You need to keep ahead of water, salt and sugar.

CherryAndAlmond · 31/12/2021 08:56

Vodka and orange juice. Very clean with lots of vitamin C. Eat a full fat meal before you drink.

Kittykat93 · 31/12/2021 10:10

I know everyone says to alternate each alcoholic drink with water and I'm sure it would help yes, but when you are out for a few drinks it's just not something most people think of doing! When someone asks what I want from the bar I'm going to say another wine, not a glass of tap water 🤣

ArblemarzipanTFruitcake · 31/12/2021 10:16

Drinking slowly is the best way to avoid a hangover.

User48751490 · 31/12/2021 10:19

Shandy.

I would be up all night pissing after a pint of water 😂
PuppyMonkey · 31/12/2021 10:23

Bacardi and coke always fine for me.

Gin is ok, if you do gin and fresh orange it’s a lovely drink and good for you too.Grin
