NYE Dinner - what are you having

It's me, DH and DS18 fro dinner this year, I have a bottle of Champagne but need inspiration for food..... what are you having?

I'm on my own and have a completely empty fridge at the mo. So will pop to sainsbos tomorrow but I'm enjoying this thread for inspiration

We usually have steak and chips. But a friends had a canapés buffet for Christmas Eve which inspired me, so for NYE we will be having similar. I’m looking forward to the mini beef wellingtons in particular!

We are in a bit of a mess. Went away for Christmas so have almost no food in. Planned to go shopping tonight when we picked our new car up. However, there was a problem with the paperwork so we had to drive straight home to sort and email.it. I'm also working until 4.30 tomorrow. Managed tonight by buying fish and chips takeaway.

So, now we have little food in the house for NYEve or NYDay! Hubby thinks we can go shopping tomorrow at 4.30 but we live 10 miles away from a decent shop and I'm sure they'll close early.

Like the OP we probably do have a bottle of champagne somewhere and plenty of gin! Be like a NY of my teenage years.

I've promised the kids we'll order a chinese takeaway tomorrow night. The three of us will be at home, and watching tv. I do need to get some coke for my rum, so will pop into town tomorrow.

I have it in my head that I want to do fried calamari for DH, DD14 and me but DH says that’s just a starter. So I’m looking for ideas to fill out the meal. Any ideas for a main that will go with fried squid?

Party food and a bottle of fizz

We’ve gone for a 1970s vibe.

Prawn cocktail followed by steak Diane and a lovely bottle of red we’ve been saving.

Either pizza and salad or slow cooker chilli with rice and garlic bread

DH has decided he wants to have a go at cooking venison with a cranberry sauce. We will have it with dauphinois potatoes and peas. I get to do dessert and chose Ben and Jerry’s Phish Food in oyster shells.

DH is working so nothing special here for NYE. Having a full roast beef dinner on NYD though.

M and S party food, crisps and dips, some salad. Covid got us, we normally pool party food with ndn. Dh tested positive 21st, ndn 26th, me today. Nyd I normally do a big roast for us all plus my dm and ndns dm but obviously not now.

So sad buffet for us while ndn also have a sad buffet. Its tragic really 😔.

DH is working so just me and DC. We’ve had a new sushi concession open in our Sainsburys so think we’ll get a selection of that. Eye wateringly expensive, but feels marginally more healthy than another tonne of cheese. And means I don’t have to cook
