Duck breast in plum sauce with creamed cabbage and buttered kale. All from scratch but I like cooking. Also have various bubbles in.

Duck was £12.50 for two breasts!

KITKAT she brought a dog with her for christmas dinner which then spent the entire evening being sick all over my rug.
Turns out dog is on meds but she thought it would be ok for one day!
Had to bin my months old rug and order a new one and she offered me £40!!! Im fuming as Im a single mum on benefits and she bought herself a new tv on boxing day!

@Mother87

Going to Hawksmoor @ 4pm... then coming home to watch Succession & trying to stay awake till 'late'...
Sounds ideal. You'll be asleep by 10pm if you're anything like me 😂😂

Disclaimer - h is Albanian and was brought up to see new year like the English see Christmas. So it’s a big important meal. Plus you eat slowly over the evening and covid permitting people come and go. I’m not Albanian and this is my interpretation of there meals -
I do charcuterie board - Spanish inspired meats, cheeses, grapes and pickled veggies.
Then there will be roast chicken, pilaf, crispy potatoes, tzatziki, red cabbage salad, normal green salad, olives, prawns, boiled eggs and bread. If certain male relatives appear I will do some thin steaks as there will shocked by a lack of red meat. Plus buffet style as I serve is enough of a shock. Pudding is honey cake.

duvetdayforeveryone · 30/12/2021 19:10

DJSteves · 30/12/2021 19:11

M&S Chinese banquet

duvetdayforeveryone · 30/12/2021 19:12

@KurtWildesChristmasNamechange

Chinese takeaway for us too. I'll over-order so we have plenty of leftovers for New Year's Day too. It's just me and DC so pjs and Harry Potter marathon. Might open a bottle of wine later in the evening.
We also over order Grin Chinese leftovers for breakfast is the best!!!
DSGR · 30/12/2021 19:15

M&S Chinese, can’t be bothered cooking

AfterEightMintyCedric · 30/12/2021 19:19

Picking up a Japanese takeaway on the way round to best mate's place...pork gyoza, chicken karaage, gochujang and ginger crispy cauli and dirty teriyaki fries...then off to the pub!

Therealjudgejudy · 30/12/2021 19:20

New years day is fillet steak and chips. Garlic butter for himself, peppercorn sauce for me.

Thinking of maybe getting an Indian takeaway for NYE

@IcedAbstinente - have you tried this recipe out? I think I'm going to give it a go!

Lovely ideas here! Thank you!

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 30/12/2021 19:29

Tomahawk steak, wedges, peppercorn sauce, mushrooms, steamed broccoli and crispy onions, all homemade. Then I'm going to have cheese and mince pies later Grin

TheCanyon · 30/12/2021 19:38

We were going to have party bits but our asda shop has none and We're in isolation so feck knows? A pot noodle? Wine?

Balloondog · 30/12/2021 19:42

'Cotechino e lentiche' to adhere to tradition (although we'll have it for dinner rather than at midnight as we rarely manage to stay awake til the bells!).

memoriediangelina.com/2010/01/01/cotechino-lentils/

Lobster bisque and steak pie (like most of Scotland!) on NYD. Still need to think of a light pudding to follow all that...

Yes, it is a good one. Very simple delicate flavours that you can beef up with the condiments as desired. :)

GigantosaurusRex · 30/12/2021 19:45

We are going to make pizza but shape the dough so it's a 2022 pizza.

DareDevil223 · 30/12/2021 19:47

Beef Wellington, mash, sauteed sprouts with pancetta. Can't wait.

SquigglePigs · 30/12/2021 19:56

We're having dinner with friends. Halloumi fries for starter, coq au vin, then chocolate fondant. We wanted a simple menu that meant one (or two) of us wasn't stuck in the kitchen all night.

Almost2022 · 30/12/2021 20:01

Curry from the curry house. 😋 Ice cream and pink Moet Champagne at midnight.

DroopyClematis · 30/12/2021 20:05

@Alsonification

It’s my dads birthday that day & my parents are coming for dinner. Told dad he could have whatever he wanted as it’s his birthday so he’s requested chicken, ham & leek pie with mash & greens followed by bread & butter pudding with custard Grin
Damned good choice!
ghostmouse · 30/12/2021 20:29

Sexnotgender · 30/12/2021 20:30
