Any thoughts?

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 29/12/2021 22:17

Oh it probably won't mean anything he will just hide away in the background having got away with being a total sleeze!

ilovetomatoes · 29/12/2021 22:19

He’s trying everything he can to drag out the legal proceedings and find any loophole possible. I don’t think the verdict will have any impact on that at all.

TokyoSushi · 29/12/2021 22:19

Well it clearly puts him further into the mire, but practically, probably not much. He'll likely continue his 'avoid, deny, avoid' strategy.

Pollingbadly · 29/12/2021 22:27

It damages his reputation further for sure. She was his friend and he distanced himself from Ep by claiming the friendship was with her.

It makes it harder for him in the court of public opinion and surely makes a return to public life still less likely. Legally I have no idea except it's evidence that juries will be hard. I can't imagine how he'd ever end up in front of one though.

I respect the queen but paying for his defence has been the most morally disappointing decision I've seen her make. It tarnishes the monarchy rather than protects it.

Imdreamingofapeacefulxmas · 29/12/2021 22:29

Vile man I don't believe for a second he will actually accept she is guilty just as friends and family of convicted murderers never believed they are guilty

Nat6999 · 29/12/2021 22:30

Can he be extradited to face trial in America? Would the FBI be allowed to arrest him over here?

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 29/12/2021 22:33

Don't imagine it'll make the smallest difference to PA but it's still v good news.

PA is grotesque but sounds like she and JE were the ones running the show, so glad she didn't wriggle out.

That said, she'll likely appeal, get out and write a book about her prison experiences 🙄

Jouleigh · 29/12/2021 22:34

Has anyone seen Alan Dershowitz's BBC interview?
Virginia Guiffre has also accused him of being involved. How the fuck does the BBC pay someone to give commentary on a court case when he has been accused?!

tiredanddangerous · 29/12/2021 22:35

It won't affect him at all. He's untouchable.

Wizzbangfizz · 29/12/2021 22:36

Does anyone else think she is paying for the sons of men? I'm open to be dissuaded on this but it sickens me no man has stood trial

WeAreTheHeroes · 29/12/2021 22:36

Honestly? I think the judge telling the jury they had to continue their deliberations and weren't allowed time off for the holidays is likely to have been a factor. The jury room is highly pressurised and juries in difficult cases need time, not additional pressure.

Pollingbadly · 29/12/2021 22:40

wizz

Very sickening but I don't agree that there's a link between the absence of men being tried and this verdict. She happens to be guilty.

Wizzbangfizz · 29/12/2021 22:43

Not trying to defend her at all in case my post was interpreted that way

Wizzbangfizz · 29/12/2021 22:43

And sins not sons

Motherdare · 29/12/2021 22:44

The judge hurried this result up. She wanted a guilty verdict and quickly. It was clear this jury wanted to go home. They refused to deliberate on 23rd and 24th despite those days not being public holidays in the US. Today they were asking if they’d have to work over New Year if they couldn’t find a verdict today. She said yes. And lo, we have a verdict. 🤷‍♀️

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 29/12/2021 22:45

I'm thinking he may have discovered his ability to sweat! 🤔

IWasHotInTheNineties · 29/12/2021 22:48

@Wizzbangfizz I agree.

Pollingbadly · 29/12/2021 22:50

The prosecution got to tear the witnesses apart so the jury heard everything Maxwell needed them to hear. She had the opportunity to speak. The jury asked for clarification of terms, showing diligent critical thinking skills rather than a judge's puppets.

WeeHaggisFace · 29/12/2021 22:50

Very little unfortunately.

The BBCs choice to allow Alan Dershowitz to interview is appalling and he very much tried to use that opportunity to discredit VW further.

longwayoff · 29/12/2021 22:51

That's a problem Motherdare, sounds like grounds for appeal or even mistrial.

CoedenNadolig · 29/12/2021 22:51

She's been used as a scapegoat by powerful rich men. I mean she's guilty but funny how she's the only one who will probably die in prison having actually served a lengthy sentence for abhorrent crimes.

WeAreTheHeroes · 29/12/2021 23:00

@Pollingbadly - jurors asking for clarification and asking questions does not mean they weren't pressurised to reach verdicts which may potentially be unsafe.

flashy44 · 29/12/2021 23:00

@Wizzbangfizz

That she is a woman and groomed these young girls is more sickening to me,justice done.
Peaseblossum22 · 29/12/2021 23:01

She’s guilty and should go to gaol but she’s the product of a deeply dysfunctional life. Her father was evil and cruel and abusive. I had some dealings with his companies in the 1980s , his staff were petrified of him as were his adult children and his wife , it was not normal at all.

sadpapercourtesan · 29/12/2021 23:04

I don't think anything will touch Andrew while the Queen is still alive.
