As the title says really...DP has a birthday coming up and I'm looking for ideas (early 50s, mountain biker, like food and booze).

Lego bonsai tree
Whisky
Trainers

iklboo · 29/12/2021 22:44

Oh - a whisky taster set from Masters of Malt. They do rum, vodka & gin ones as well. You can choose 5 x 50ml miniatures to suit taste & budget.

GobletOfIre · 29/12/2021 22:47

Patricia Highsmith diaries, McCartney lyrics

2319inprogress · 29/12/2021 22:48

Dart board

PanicBuyingSprouts · 29/12/2021 22:49

Out of everything DH got, he seems most pleased with his new rucksack abs Bob Mortimer's new book.

doodlejump1980 · 29/12/2021 22:49

Mountain biker = waterproof socks!

Lolly86 · 29/12/2021 22:50

Maybe I should have said that he's probably got every overpriced MTB accessory imaginable, including the waterproof socks!!

I did buy him some nice tumblers for Christmas and we currently have enough booze .

Bob Mortimer book might be a goer as he likes watching the fishing programme he does with Paul Whitehouse and was a big Reeves and Mortimer fan back in the day.

Mega boom 3. John Lewis.

iklboo · 29/12/2021 23:06

@Lolly86 - we got DS a light up Iron Man mouse. He loves it.

ForensicFlossy · 29/12/2021 23:09

Heated bodywarmer

Kite22 · 29/12/2021 23:09

Sorry, just here to pick up some ideas for my dh, who is the most impossible man to buy for.

Leah2005 · 29/12/2021 23:11

I got my DH the hat Bob Mortimer wears on the fishing programme. Ordered from the Village Hat Shop in America. It's a stetson. He loves it. Took about two weeks to arrive.

gleegeek · 29/12/2021 23:12

T shirt with his favourite song lyrics on. Liquorice, lots of liquoriceGrin

WisestIsShe · 29/12/2021 23:13

A coffee hamper from Paddy and Scott, and an airfix model seem to be his favourites so far. He's 57.

BrianWankum · 29/12/2021 23:20

A Rapha base layer top.

Kittykatmacbill · 29/12/2021 23:22

DH (early 40s road cyclist) - lots of coffee (got 7 seven different blends for Christmas), random merino base layer from sports pursuit, some blindingly bright running gear, a book about the soviet space program (beyond) and lots of marzipan…

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 29/12/2021 23:26

Mine is mid 40s and I bought him Bobby Gillespie’s autobiography which went down well. Also a really nice corduroy shirt, and some merino wool socks were well received.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/12/2021 23:30

Best bits with my dp in recent years:
Paul Smith socks
Cheese - especially Cornish Yarg, but Wensleydale do nice hampers online

Hydrate · 29/12/2021 23:31

Bass pod
Electric guitar pod
GPS for car
Weather station
Usually I give him something to do with music, concert tickets, cd's, a framed poster of a group of jazz musicians in Harlem.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/12/2021 23:34

Posted too early:
A selection of different mustards from Waitrose
Locally brewed craft ales
Molton Brown shaving soap and a shaving brush
Weleda Skin Food as his hands get really sore in winter
Restaurant vouchers

It's his birthday soon and I think I'll steal the Bob Mortimer book suggestion.
