We're off to the market shortly for the veg for tomorrow, a visit to the cheese monger, and some bacon 😋

Then it's back to wrap my dad's present before he visits (he's already text he'll be here while we're in town - he does it every bloody year even though he gets the same answer 🙄).

When he's been, it's on with the kitchen prep for tomorrow, a bit of wrapping, some baking, and track Santa on Norad.

What about you lot? Xmas Smile

After breakfast its off to the nature reserve for a big walk to exhaust the DC and youngest dog (eldest wouldn't make it round). Then the DC will be off to my parents house for some lunch while we move the presents into the downstairs cupboard ready for tonight and get tidied up.

Then when the DC are home we will have dinner and watch Paddington before bath and bed

mylittleyumyum · 24/12/2021 08:19

Good Morning! I'm working til 11:30, then shutting myself way with a Bailey's coffee to finish wrapping the last of the gifts.

I'm waiting for one more parcel to arrive, so hopefully it gets here!

Normal tradition is going out for a meal on Christmas Eve, but DH has tested positive so we won't be over the door (unless I take myself and kids for a PCR)

Other than that we are resigned to being locked in for the foreseeable. We were meant to be hosting this year so we have enough food for 10.

OurChristmasMiracle · 24/12/2021 08:23

I’m into work a half day the my best friend is coming over to grab presents and Xmas Eve bags. (First year I’ve done them!) followed by a date to see Spider-Man and then home to clean eeyore Xmas bedding. New Xmas pjs lush snow fairy bath bomb and a nice bottle of cold glass bottle coke. Before I spend a few minutes remembering those who I have loved and lost at Xmas and then to bed ready for Xmas morning.

Hotcuppatea · 24/12/2021 08:25

Breakfast. Ice skating. Lunch out in restaurant. Drop in on MIL. Go for a run. Wrap presents. Bed.

Girlintheframe · 24/12/2021 08:28

I've already been to the local bakers for rolls.

Now on to last minute tidying, laundry sorting and generally getting organized.

Long walk with the dog this afternoon.

Then tonight all the adult children come home and tradition dictates turkey rolls, Christmas movie and board games.

Peridot1 · 24/12/2021 08:29

Well I have already managed to spill a glass of water over the kitchen countertop soaking my lists and most of the cards I’d written to deliver around the village later.

So rewriting lists can cards is now on the list! Hmm

Need to nip out and get more veg I think as we now have our neighbours coming over for dinner on Boxing Day.
Wrap presents
Tidy and clean kitchen and utility room.
Vacuum.
Ice cake.
Tidy my bedroom which is a bit of a mess.
Deliver cards around village.

Relax!

JengaNonConfirming · 24/12/2021 08:31

I'm still in bed with a cuppa. Once my partner finishes work at lunchtime, we're off to out favourite cafe, with my DD, for a breakfast bap.
Then we'll be home to prep the veg for tomorrow, followed by a tour around the town, to look at people's Christmas lights. We'll then stuff ourselves on cheese and biscuits 😋

Booksandwine80 · 24/12/2021 08:32

Lazy morning of tv and cups of tea. Into town for lunch with DH and DD4, little wander around town/fair rides. Home for Christmas Eve box and tracking Santa!

Merry Christmas Xmas Smile

Ifailed · 24/12/2021 08:32

Got back from Sainsbury's 1/2 hour ago, apparently I missed the big stampede at 6. From now on it's just a normal friday & weekend.

lollipoprainbow · 24/12/2021 08:32

Working then dropping pressies to my mums care home as they are in lockdown and I can't see her over Christmas Xmas Confused home to wrap presents, I'm sending my dd out with her dad for a McDonald's so I can wrap without her seeing !! Then picky tea of honey sausages, sausages rolls, crisps etc. a quick drink at the local pub with my brother, then home to leave our drinks and carrots and mince pies out for Santa !!

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 24/12/2021 08:34

Morning @lucysmam hope you are well

I've been up for an hour i woke before anyone else which is a rare bliss so I'm downstairs with blanket, pot of spiced christmas tea and am reading nigel slaters christmas chronicles.

Will make sausage rolls in a bit to take to a family get together at midday

We are going to church on the way home, services are a cancelled but the church is open for private prayer so will pop in

Light tea when we get home as will have had big buffet, children have requested eggs in various forms.

Then the usual getting ready for father christmas and reading christmas stories etc, my older two don't believe anymore but pretend for the little ones so its still magical,

We will hang a special birdefeeder in the garden

When children asleep dh and I will organise presents then relax with carols at kings on iplayer and a cheeseboard

Love christmas eve you can feel the anticipation in the air!

vodkaredbullgirl · 24/12/2021 08:36

Making Christmas dinner, got work tonight and tomorrow night.

Noshowlomo · 24/12/2021 08:36

Off to marks to buy a gift card and some last minute bits, then get some nice flowers, wash my hair, deliver some cards and then chiiiiiillll with my husband and son and eat all the chocolate

RickyZooom · 24/12/2021 08:39

Good morning! Happy Christmas Eve!

DH taking the kids out for a scoot whilst I try and find their presents that I hid ages ago and wrap them. Might have a nice bath whilst they’re out Grin
Then it’s full on wrapping mode, finish everything off. Drop a few presents round to local family then hopefully settle down with a family Christmas film and snacks a bit later.

Crunchymum · 24/12/2021 08:41

Washing, tidying, keeping 3 very excited little people occupied. Plan to make gingerbread, maybe see if they'll watch a film. DP is working half day so he'll bring fresh bread and milk home.

Inlaws are visiting after lunch then they are off to stay with my BIL and SIL. I'll roast my turkey crown this afternoon (we are having actual Christmas Dinner at my sisters) and we'll have it with dips, salad, nice bread, cheese and pickles later for dinner tonight
Will have some left for sandwiches (turkey sandwiches are the best!). DP will take kids to the woods for a few hours so I can wrap last bits.

I also take the kids for a walk at before
bed. We usually do PJ's, wellies, big coats and go and check out the Christmas lights locally and look out for Santa. We also track him on my phone.

Hoping they are in bed at a decent hour. They won't be though Grin

Love Christmas eve.

StruggleStreet · 24/12/2021 08:42

Drop toddler DD at MILs for a few hours
Go to Waitrose to buy a few final bits (mainly need a nice dessert cause I’ve decided I can’t be arsed to make one)
Go to shopping centre to buy myself something to wear tomorrow that isn’t horrible maternity leggings
Maybe stop for lunch somewhere
Collect DD
Give kids Christmas Eve boxes
Gingerbread house with DD (which inevitably means I make the house while she eats as much of the decoration as she can)
Christmas film
Kids bedtime
Wrapping!
Baileys
Bed

RhinestoneCowgirl · 24/12/2021 08:47

I love Christmas Eve!

We'll be bringing in the tree and decorating, it was DD's birthday yesterday and so we do the tree on Christmas Eve to keep celebrations separate. I also need to make mince pies and wrap one last present for DH.

Bit of food prep for tomorrow, fish for tea tonight, then hopefully watch Muppets Christmas Carol with a glass of something in hand...

Pegasussnail · 24/12/2021 08:50

We are watching the Gruffalo waiting for Santa tracking app to start
Dc are having a special breakfast left by the elves
(Lucky charm mini cereal and we gave them their Christmas presents from us)
Going to mass in the Cathedral this morning so will bath and sort dcs

Later Dh is delivering presents to neighbours (eg wine) and I will peel and leave the veg in ice cold water

He is visiting his parents (I might go too but unsure depends how much more I need to do)

Dc Santa all ready - wrapped in the garage. It will be midnight before we get them out as last night they were up and down all evening (we possibly have tooth fairy too)

Happy Christmas to you all whatever you are doing and sending good vibes for anyone who are not having the Christmas they thought they would be having for whatever reason Star

Pegasussnail · 24/12/2021 08:52

Is not (half asleep)Grin

Littlewhiteballs · 24/12/2021 08:56

We're off to the theatre! I'm ridiculously excited. I always get a lump in my throat during theatre productions as watching talented people creating art though dance, drama, set design, and storytelling is just incredible to watch. The dc are 5 and 7 so they're just in it for the snacks and merch!

Merry Christmas Eve everybody!

BiddyPop · 24/12/2021 09:03

Couple of hours working (wfh) doing admin stuff.

Also, update personal cash book on my work system with purchases of past few days (so I know I won't go overdrawn).

buy a final present (for 12 yo DNephew), wrap that, before going to deliver a car load of presents to 5 extended families living nearby (on behalf of me, my DPs, and a few DSiblings).

Need some milk and vanilla ice cream.

Wash kitchen floor. Clean ashes from stove and clean the glass door again.

Peel veg for tomorrow.

Ring family. (Had a lovely passive aggressive call from 1 DSib yesterday while I was still working and under pressure, she's on holidays a couple of days already).

Decent shower, dry my hair properly (hairdresser had to cancel as he came down with COVID, so I have a frizzy mess to deal with).

Wrap the present for dd under the tree, and her birthday present (26th). And make a cake for her birthday, or buy one.

But while I finish my coffee before getting started properly, I am getting out sausage meat to defrost and catching up here.
