We're off to the market shortly for the veg for tomorrow, a visit to the cheese monger, and some bacon 😋

Then it's back to wrap my dad's present before he visits (he's already text he'll be here while we're in town - he does it every bloody year even though he gets the same answer 🙄).

When he's been, it's on with the kitchen prep for tomorrow, a bit of wrapping, some baking, and track Santa on Norad.

What about you lot? Xmas Smile

DH has taken the DC to visit some of his family. I'll be cooking, wrapping presents, tidying etc. They will be back mid afternoon and we will do baths with Christmas bath bombs then a board game, pizza with a Christmas film, read The Night Before Christmas and hopefully get them to sleep at a reasonable hour.

Veryverycalmnow · 24/12/2021 09:12

Given DS(4) some old scraps of wrapping paper which he is using to wrap loads of his own stuff up for himself to open. Keeping him busy while I have a fairly lazy start with a coffee, writing lists. Off to get vegetables later for tomorrow and then big family walk with pub at the end.

Nidan2Sandan · 24/12/2021 09:22

Need to get ready to go out for a walk with the 3 mini monsters and my best friend. We walk across a local common, into town and hopefully stop at a cafe for brunch, then walk back home.

After that we will chill out, watch an xmas movie. I also need to make my trifle and send DH up into the roof for the basket the elves deliver the kids new PJs in.

Hopefully, I can squeeze a nap in too as I have slept terribly the last few nights.

I've just made a list. There is a lot of food prep to be done, some cards to deliver and some tidying up.
Then it's a bath with candles and carols from kings on while I decompress. A nice dinner afterwards then watching a film together.

TheCreamCaker · 24/12/2021 09:33

I'm going to clean the bathroom thoroughly, then vacuum the stairs and through the downstairs. Apart from that excitement, I haven't got anything to do. Pub at 8, meeting friends and son.

EileenGC · 24/12/2021 09:38

I have a bank appointment at 11.
Then catching the bus to the shopping centre for some last minute Christmas gifts.
Possibly meeting a friend I haven’t seen in almost a year after I get back.

Home by lunch, and then I’ll help with all the prep for Christmas dinner tonight. Do what’s left of the wrapping. I’m in Spain and we do the big meal and exchange presents on the 24th. Late night ahead as we probably won’t start eating until 9pm or so.

Will have to do PLFs and other travel paperwork today, I fly back early on the 26th and I don’t want to be sorting all that tomorrow.

afaloren · 24/12/2021 09:55

The downstairs looks like a bomb’s gone off so need to tidy that up, put the mountain of recycling out and make the Yule Log. Oh cripes, must also get the pigs in blankets out of the freezer, thanks OP for this thread or I would have forgotten!

Then after DH finishes work we’re going to walk the dog to the pub and see if there are any outside pod tables available. Pork pie, cheese etc for tea. Happy Christmas Eve everyone!

Good morning and Merry Christmas!

The dogs let me have a lie in today, which was kind of them. They got extra treats this morning for their efforts. Young DC still snoring away but I'll be doing a wake up call soon.

But at present I'm having a coffee and a mince pie, sat in my pjs, enjoying the peace and quiet before the chaos. I need to make a cheesecake and some truffles but there's no massive rush.

We're heading out to see the new Spider-Man film at half 12, get a takeaway hot chocolate for the walk home (it's drizzling and grey here).

Older DC, their partners, and my 2 baby grandsons will be arriving 4ish. They're staying until the 27th. My adult step DC will arrive tomorrow, with their dad in Canada I'm the only family they have here in the U.K. and I love having them with us all together again. It's manic but it's the best fun, and my younger DC love having 'the big kids' home again.

Ham for dinner tonight, not a sit down affair just carved up with some pickles and coleslaw and a pile of chips on the side. DD11 has been writing out 'who am I?' and 'charades' suggestions so we're in for a good laugh tonight - and I can't wait Xmas Smile

Bellaphant · 24/12/2021 10:09

At my parents, currently preparing veg with mum, baby DD and carols, df has taken Ds out delivering things. Picking DH up from station soon, maybe a nap, nativity at four, Bailey's tonight!

Shedmistress · 24/12/2021 10:13

I did too much wood chopping yesterday so I'm on the sofa, feeling under the weather, watching Sons of Anarchy. I intend to stay here as long as possible.

Hodl · 24/12/2021 10:20

Good morning all, happy Christmas Eve!

I'm about to start cleaning up which I'm aiming to finish by 1. Then set the table for tomorrow, double check gifts for family coming tomorrow, peel the veg, then I'm hopefully going to 6pm mass.
Should be home for 7.30, DH is doing supper, check NORAD and watch a Christmas film.

2toastornot2toast · 24/12/2021 10:21

Cook turkey, peel veg, walk the dc. Wrap last present.

meow1989 · 24/12/2021 10:21

Dh got up with ds(3) this morning so has gone back to bed for a few whilst we have sort of watched encanto and played with some playmobile. My dm popped over with ds stocking (empty, I left it there in previous years) and for a coffee. When dh gets up we will go for a wood walk then brave the shops as ds would like croissants for Xmas breakfast.

When we return home the elves are expected to have dropped off ds exclusively paw patrol Xmas eve box with pj's sweets and dvd.

Later we will go for a walk to see all the Xmas light, watch said dvds and hopefully ds will go to sleep at a reasonable time so I can finish wrapping and have a snowball!

Iamblossom · 24/12/2021 10:23

Have swum a mile this morning with my friend.

Now sitting at kitchen table with coffee with the oven on, am about to make Mince pies, ice my cake and then a yule log.

Later dad coming over for games, then pub for an hour, then tacos for tea.

Love Christmas eve. Even though we had to cancel our usual drinks party I Co host with my dad at his due to covid, tbh it's quite nice just having ourselves to please and no stress.

cobblers123 · 24/12/2021 10:26

Visiting my dad in care home at 11am, he's coming out for dinner tomorrow.

Cooking gammon, making mince pies and sausage rolls, making stuffing and precooking parsnips, preparing other veg and wrapping a few presents.

Sit down with seville orange gin and tonic, a large one!

EewwwDavid · 24/12/2021 10:31

Good morning! This morning ds8 wanted to watch the polar express. That movie gives me the creeps!

I've tidied up a bit, and shortly I'm going to have a shower and do a face mask and pamper myself a bit. I've got covid, so me, DH and two dc are on our own this year. I still can't smell or taste anything, so I'm hoping for a Christmas miracle so I can taste the turkey tomorrow!🤞

Indecisivelurcher · 24/12/2021 10:32

Just started to clean and cook then ds age 4 came in, coughed and vomited on the kitchen floor 😱 Now playing is it a bug or not...

DressingPafe · 24/12/2021 10:57

We always have Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve so will be starting on that soon. I will mainly just be pottering in the kitchen. Maybe a glass of something later while I cook. All my shopping is done, presents wrapped, house tidy etc. So it’s all pretty relaxed.

sofakingcool · 24/12/2021 11:09

It was to have a nice family lunch out (DS working tonight) but DH has been called in to do some work now Xmas Sad

Other than that, not a lot! Looking forward to getting my new PJs on tonight. Might even treat myself to a face mask

Lulu1919 · 24/12/2021 11:16

I'll wander down the road to Waitrose later, grab a fresh loaf....see if any bargains to be had !!

Figgygal · 24/12/2021 11:21

Waxonwaxoff0 · 24/12/2021 11:21

I picked up the M&S food order first thing. We've baked some cookies to leave out for Santa tonight. Now we're off to meet friends for a drink and grab some fish and chips, then the panto tonight.

1happyhippie · 24/12/2021 11:25

I’ve had a nice relaxing morning. Walked the dog with dd2 and delivered neighbours gifts.
Dd1 is getting ready for work, then we are going to drop things off at ds house, then off to my parents to drop their gifts off.
Planning on a quiet evening, pizza when dd1s back tonight and a baileys or two!
I’m all sorted so feeling pretty excited now.

Natsku · 24/12/2021 11:25

Its the big day for us in Finland. We've opened the presents under the tree, I've got the ham in the oven, and we're all taking turns to play the new Switch game we got. Soon we'll go visit FIL to eat some food and exchange presents, visit the graveyard on the way to light candles for the dead, then back home for our dinner and to wait for Joulupukki to bring the rest of the presents in the evening (was a bit late trying to hire one and ended up with a time very close to bedtime which means we get to excite the children with new toys and then send them to bed without playing with them. Poor kids!)
