Programming the TV to record on VHS..

Ipods..

Renting a dvd from the shop..

Decorating a room and having one colour at the bottom with a paler version at the top separated with a pretty boarder..

What are yours?

@Bloballbovish

Renting DVDs by post. I thought this was cutting edge, loved making lists on Lovefilm and Amazon DVD for my next 3 discs!

We worked our way through every shite lesbian film we could find, found some good ones along the way. I'd never have rented anything like that in person, even if the shop stocked it.

Love film - I’d forgotten about them?

My dh and I were only reminiscing today how we used to. walk down to Blockbuster to rent a video, and then get a bag of steaming hot chips from the nearby Chinese to eat on the way home.

Actual paper Payslips - it’s all done on online websites now

I really miss a CD player in my car.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 23/12/2021 21:48

Sirensoftitan, l think she meant wary!

GoodVibesHere · 23/12/2021 21:50

Shaking hands to greet people at work. I always hated that, so I'm very glad it's a thing of the past.

BunTooti · 23/12/2021 21:52

Are foil decorations something antiquated? I'm sitting beneath a foil star, the living room is festooned with foil garlands. Or maybe they are plastic now but look like foil.

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 23/12/2021 21:53

Watching a DVD.

Vapeyvapevape · 23/12/2021 21:54

I’ve still got a free view box !

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 23/12/2021 21:54

When ‘warm’ winter lights were cream and not orange.

LowlandLucky · 23/12/2021 21:55

CathyorClaire A new shiny HMV store opened in our local town 3 weeks ago, i walked past last Tuesday and it was packed.

growinggreyer · 23/12/2021 21:55

Carrying a purse. I still have an enormous leather one with all my store cards etc in there, but I tend to just take my phone and my debit card out now. It feels like a relic of a bygone time.

MsJuniper · 23/12/2021 21:58

One fat BIC biro with four different colours - I haven't seen one in years!

As a teacher our cupboards are full of these! Love the special editions with different selections of colours.

Idontgiveaf324 · 23/12/2021 21:59
@Snooks1971 we had one of them in the late 90s / early 00s in the pub I worked in. I was always scared of doing it wrong (I was about 14/15 and waitressing)

Around the same time we joined the EU and it seemed inevitable we would join the single currency too, eventually. All the new tills and calculators had buttons to convert automatically from £ to €.
We joined the EU in 1973 (unless you're from another country that joined later) so that would not have been around the millennium when you were a teenager.

CatNamedEaster · 23/12/2021 21:59

We still buy CD's and Dvd's. Last week I also played the mix tape I made for DH when we met so DS could hear it.

I feel bad for him, he has no idea we are so prehistoric as he doesn't go round others' houses much so theres nothing to compare us to. He'll probably disown us when he goes to secondary school.Grin

GoodnightGrandma · 23/12/2021 22:01

I miss silk wrapped baubles.

Tinsellittis · 23/12/2021 22:02

Fax machines 📠

RuthW · 23/12/2021 22:02

I still do a lot of these. I'm not that old at 53.

ancientgran · 23/12/2021 22:02

Old style phone boxes, put 4 x 1d in and press button A if you get a connection and button B if you don't get a connection and want your pennies back.

Rosewaterblossom · 23/12/2021 22:03

@Snugglepumpkin

Flip phones.

Freesat or Freeview boxes or Sky boxes to watch tv on.

I have a little Firestick that can get Now TV (more Sky than I could ever want), Prime, Netflix & a load of other channels as well as let me buy & rent films, play music, watch You Tube or Masterclass etc... & it will fit in my pocket.
Doesn't even have to be a big pocket.

I suspect if I ever buy a new TV (although I think by then it will be some sort of projector rather than an actual TV) everything in the Firestick will be already built in to the the TV/Projector/Whatever the next thing is.

My TV, which is under 2 years old, has tv/free view, now TV, Netflix prime, apple TV, Disney plus etc plus the usual iplayer/more 4 etc etc

Dial up internet - it was SO noisy

Taping the top 40 off the radio - had to pause if the DJ spoke!

Buying videos/cassette tapes then cds and DVDs

JeffThePilot · 23/12/2021 22:06

Getting a huge pile of Christmas cards.

Oh yes. I hardly get any Christmas cards at all. Perhaps it’s because I’m a knob.

This year so far the only card I’ve received is from a family I’m working with (I’m a social worker).

I tell myself that people don’t really do cards any more, I’ve almost convinced myself 😂

Walking into a travel agents to book a holiday.

ancientgran · 23/12/2021 22:09

Just realised my phone box doesn't qualify, it's probably 60 years ago.

and someone would pick the phone up and trash the download....and loading programs of a cassette recorder and having to start again several times.
