For me, it has to be Robbie Williams.. I feel irate when I hear him on the radio. I will never ever like his voice.

OP posts:
Kezzie200 · 22/12/2021 07:25

George Ezra

AlinaSquareQueen · 22/12/2021 08:01

Tom Grennan
Rag n Bone Man
Lewis Capaldi
James Arthur

I cannot BEAR to listen to any of the above!

LadyCleathStuart · 22/12/2021 08:50

I have to agree about Sharleen Spiteri, her voice makes me feel physically ill.

Jess Glyne is just awful.

Adele has a great voice but her songs are so shit I can't listen to them at all.

Sam Smith just whinges.

Ronan Keating - also makes me feel physically ill. Can't stand his weird singing voice.

Slobberstops · 22/12/2021 08:57

God had forgotten my hatred of Ronan K

Sarahlou252 · 22/12/2021 08:59

Sam Smith and his amazing ability to sing through his nose...

TisConfusion · 22/12/2021 09:15

Another one for Jess Glynne.
I have to turn the radio off if she comes on. Absolutely cannot stand her voice.

I used to like Adele but I don't like listening to her anymore. Can't decide whether it's because of her voice or if I feel it's just overplayed/overhyped.

Bojheybuddy · 22/12/2021 11:17

@LawnFever I’m howling at that vid of Elton. It’s made my Christmas Grin

OverByYer · 22/12/2021 11:59

The Dill Danding video still makes me chuckle .

So apart from Emma Thompson, who is buying all the Adele records?

SirChenjins · 22/12/2021 12:21

Rag n Bone Man

Oh god yes, so annoying and mediocre. How on Earth did he get to be so popular? Confused

Evilpixie41 · 22/12/2021 12:26

Ariana Grande
Britney
Simply Red

Vursayles · 22/12/2021 12:28

Amy Winehouse (God rest her)
Paloma Faith
Lewis Capaldi

But the absolute worst of the worst…. Kate Bush. Makes me want to cry it’s so fucking awful.

Words · 22/12/2021 12:28

Bob Dylan. I can't abide his voice
Tom Jones. Urgh.

Heartofglass12345 · 22/12/2021 12:32

I saw a clip of Britney Spears singing before she became famous and she sounded nothing like she does on her pop songs. Her voice was lovely! God knows why she started singing like that Confused

WhoppingBigBackside · 22/12/2021 12:37

I love Tom Jones's voice
Bob Dylan is ok one song once in a blue moon.

JohnStonesMissus · 22/12/2021 12:44

Just listened to Christina Aguilera butcher The Christmas Song..when you listen between the warbling, broken notes and exaggerated hand movements she's not a great singer at all...Leave it to Nat King Cole love...

Ithinkimalonenow24 · 22/12/2021 12:45

George Ezra - I know what I do with his shotgun
Sam Smith - just terrible.
Mariah Carey - the voice acrobatics, why?

Don't mind Robbie Williams voice but can't stand him, his smugness and gurning. Like some off his songs but him has to be switched off.

Anyone who said Will Young needs a hearing test! just perfect voice, makes me go all goosebumpy

dollybird · 22/12/2021 13:07

@Pemba

Neil Young, such a whiny nasal voice. I am quite conflicted though, because he wrote some absolutely beautiful classic songs with profound lyrics. Just should have got in another singer!

Agree that Cilla Black couldn't sing. Nails down a blackboard etc. I can't believe that in the UK in the 60s, apparently Cilla's version of hits like 'Anyone Who Had a Heart' were preferred to Dionne Warwick's.
I much preferred Sheridan Smith's version in the recent-ish ITV drama about Cilla to the original. Sheridan's voice is much more pleasant.

In that drama Cilla came across as a right cow!
WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 22/12/2021 13:44

In that drama Cilla came across as a right cow!

If you speak to a lot of people who knew her - chiefly serving staff and those she considered beneath her and not her fellow stars - I don't think it was just for the drama....

Remember the time that married/attached journalist blagged her way on to Blind Date under false pretences, as she wanted a story for her magazine? I know she was devious and deserved to be upbraided; but the way Cilla treated and humiliated her - like a dog with a bone - it wouldn't surprise me in the least to discover that the journalist was taken out afterwards and executed by a firing squad under Cilla's direct command.

But back to the singing, who on earth is it saying they preferred her voice to Dionne Warwick's? Don't they have ears?!

DukkaTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 22/12/2021 13:50

Adele
Beverly Knight

They both sing in some bizarre American deep south accent.

Heather Small’s honking.
Jess Glenn’s trilling

Why can all the newer younger singers not pronounce their ‘rrrrr’s?

Shade17 · 22/12/2021 13:53

Adele

I have to turn the radio off or change station. Just awful.

Hemingwayscatz · 22/12/2021 15:56

Ed Sheeran makes me cringe. I never liked Florence and the machine either. Adele is overrated.

GinJeanie · 22/12/2021 16:02

Heather Small
Lighthouse Family
Chris Martin
James Blunt
Mick Hucknall
Rod Stewart
😱

prettyteapotsplease · 22/12/2021 16:09

This is really going back in time but here goes - Ethel Merman. Just LOUD, really belts 'em out, no subtlety whatsoever.

Lily Allen - her voice is weak, she wouldn't stand out in a school choir, how she got a recording contract is beyond me.

Celine Dion and Mariah Carey - too high and too many twiddly bits.

Justin Hawkins from The Darkness, I think rock music is better suited to a deeper voice.

Bralessandfree · 22/12/2021 16:15

Mel C. I like her as a person but when she sings it makes me cringe.

OverByYer · 22/12/2021 16:36
