@DartmoorChef

Hes in work clothes, so are the others. I would imagine that behind the doors there are lots of staff at no.10. Could have been a post work drink after the working day.

I'm failing to get worked up about this one.

Cool, I'll stick my work clothes on and invite everyone round to my garden in their work clothes and have a huge party. Sorry, work meeting with pizza and wine. That will make it totally acceptable.

Excellent logic.

RedRobinRedbreast · 19/12/2021 20:54

I think its household staff leaking this. It was taken from an upstairs window I think

also, for late spring/early summer there isn't much going on in that garden!

MollyQueenOfSocks · 19/12/2021 20:55

@AnyFucker

I think it was around that time (and many others) I was trying to reassure a woman on the phone through my tears whose H was in ICU and she wasn’t allowed to visit

She was so grateful for my useless words and it was shit

Similar experiences here. It was awful and so many people on this thread are blatantly ignoring comments like ours because it doesn't fit their perfect view of lockdowns. Thanks

@HardbackWriter

Great post. They count on it losing its power and the apathy of the public.

IncessantNameChanger · 19/12/2021 20:56

Why now? That's what I dont get. I suspect Cummings too.

Mind you, call me cynical but you could take any photo and say it was during lockdown. Wheres the proof? It's just a photo from a anonymous person who cant even publically own it with no morals to report at the time. A time bidding snake at best. Not sure I can trust that

A good percentage of Mums Netters loved that first lockdown.

Tillsforthrills · 19/12/2021 20:58

@IncessantNameChanger

Yes because BJ and his cronies have been totally honest about abiding by their own rules…

Forion · 19/12/2021 20:58

I'm sure The Guardian will have checked the source carefully.

Why now? I think it's just pressuring Johnson not to bring in more measures.

@YellowandGreenToBeSeen

Work meeting with Carrie there? Right-o.

I had to stand in my mums garden whilst she cried about my dad being in hospital that May.

Utter utter bastards.

A little off topic but she seems to manage to inject herself into all of these affairs and meetings like she runs the country by proxy.

She is his wife, so I don't know what any of the governing has to do with her. Just something that's been bothering me through all this really. Not surprised if she has invited herself into government meetings.

tangone · 19/12/2021 20:59

VE celebrations were supposed to be limited to your own household. There probably were idiots doing the conga, but they were breaking the law as it was at that time.

Forion · 19/12/2021 21:01

Photographs have time and date stamps which can't be altered.

This photo was probably taken by a staffer who's backing a rival of Johnson. They'll have known he was a fuck up and have bided their time.

OP posts:
RedRobinRedbreast · 19/12/2021 21:01

weren't there VE day street parties?

Poetrypatty · 19/12/2021 21:03

I reckon the person leaking this is doing so because they are anti-lockdown

I think that too

Forion · 19/12/2021 21:03

VE Day street parties were cancelled.

Literally the week before this date in May there were conga lines up and down the country, so this isn't going to cut through like the Christmas parties.
Forion · 19/12/2021 21:05

I don't think it's being done by an anti lockdowner. I think it's being done to topple Johnson. The Tories are well known for having a penchant for backstabbing.

OP posts:
Forion · 19/12/2021 21:06

Anybody who was communally celebrating VE Day were breaking the law. Much like those at Number 10.

At least the ones on the grass look like they're attempting to social distance

They're standing right next to each other.

There’s a difference between random people breaking the law with the VE Day congas and the people who made it breaking it.

RedRobinRedbreast · 19/12/2021 21:14

@Forion

VE Day street parties were cancelled.
But they really weren't!!
waterrat · 19/12/2021 21:15

If you say you don't care do you mean this should not have been banned ? Well I agree

But. When this photo was taken it was illegal for children to play together in a park! I remember this time very well. Adults could go fir a walk with one friend and when we saw other kids in the park and I let my children play after months of isolation I felt sick that people might be judging us.

It was also illegal to even have a kiss or hug with someone you didn't live with

User135644 · 19/12/2021 21:15

A difference yes but it was widespread. I remember loads on here revelling in getting involved in all the street parties. Therefore it won't cut through as much when loads of the public were having their own parties literally the week before.
