Me cos we've already seen the Gogglebox celeb thing.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 17/12/2021 21:06

I’m watching it. Not as much fun as Sonia thoSad

ToooSensitive · 17/12/2021 21:07

Wow thanks for this OP. I was 12 in 1989 - Jason Donovan was beautiful back in the day 😍

marypoppinsreturns · 17/12/2021 21:08

I was 15 in 1989, think I bought all these singles. Think I've missed the programme but it's on again at 1 am...set to record!

ALightThatNeverGoesOut · 17/12/2021 21:09

I'm watching the next doc. Kind of surreal seeing kids learn about a style of erstwhile popular dance that was long gone - apart from in nostalgia - before they were born.

I love disco btw but it happened a long time ago.

munchbunch12 · 17/12/2021 21:09

Gutted I missed this, I might try and find it on catch up.

ALightThatNeverGoesOut · 17/12/2021 21:11

Wow beegee with a Yorkshire accent. I mean of course he does but still ...

She'll pop up. Sonia seems to appear everywhere.
WeAreTheHeroes · 17/12/2021 21:14

He doesn't have a Yorkshire accent! It's Australian crossed with Mancunian if anything.

ALightThatNeverGoesOut · 17/12/2021 21:16

Really glad Sonia wasn't in night fever. Can you imagine? "Gorra lorra lorra sequins"

Classica · 17/12/2021 21:17

'Y'aritttte chuck?'

pictish · 17/12/2021 21:17

All these acts were bloody awful. All of them. It was not a good time for chart music.

ALightThatNeverGoesOut · 17/12/2021 21:18

It sounds Yorkshire to me! In bits admittedly.

Glad they're talking about how raw the film is. It really is not a happy clappy piece. You forget until you see it again and then you're like woah this is dark.

You must be a Smiths fan?

she'd have been very peppy and bouncy to be sure!
ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 17/12/2021 21:19

Her earrings would have saved her though. They’d have got caught on the bridge.

Lauren1983 · 17/12/2021 21:23

A heads up that bbc4 have a xmas totp at 7pm everyday starting Monday. There is 1990, 1986, 1978, 1998 and 2002.

Thanks, I shall now force my kids to watch this as revenge for all the Olivia Rodrigo & Billie Eilish
ALightThatNeverGoesOut · 17/12/2021 21:26

Lol at Sonia's life saving earrings!

Is anyone else excited at seeing the actual street from travoltas staying alive walk??! That scene was so much of the 70s.

pictish · 17/12/2021 21:28

I’d far rather listen to Billie Eilish than Jason Donovan. He’s shit, Billie Eilish is much better.

Classica · 17/12/2021 21:32

John Travolta looks like he's dressed as a security guard

LoveMySituation · 17/12/2021 21:34

I had their first album too @Builtthiscityonsausagerolls Grin I still sometimes listen to Stop it girlGrin

Rainartist · 17/12/2021 21:41

Ahh wish I'd seen this just for the nostalgia rather than the quality of the music I remember all those acts, was 14, just before I developed a music taste!!WinkGrin

Full of misogyny too.
