I met Rosemary Conley at my Saturday job when she did a book signing. She declined the plate of biscuits we offered her with a cuppa Grin

I love that Aaron Neville and Linda Ronstadt cheese-fest.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 17/12/2021 20:52

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

But the late 80’s had The Stone Roses and The Happy Mondays

Bez and Shaun😵‍💫💊 What more could anyone want?!Grin

R.E.M also started in the late 80s, and Guns 'N Roses.
ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 17/12/2021 20:54

I’ve only realised now that they all sound the same.

Must be the Stock Aitkin Waterman thing.

WeAreTheHeroes · 17/12/2021 20:54

Jason didn't have any time off that year, did he?

Palavah · 17/12/2021 20:54

Ride on Time has RADICALLY improved as has that clip of Pump up the Jam and NKOTB Right Stuff.

It must be so bizarre dancing and miming at such close quarters. Like gigging a wake.

ALightThatNeverGoesOut · 17/12/2021 20:54

What happened to The London Boys is truly tragic. I was shocked when I read it.

But. 1989 was a fucking terrible year for music. Apart from the aforesaid London Boys and Ride On Time (which was a massive con, but sounded great). Sealed with a kiss? On my arse m8. On. My. Arse.

Classica · 17/12/2021 20:55

Whenever I see Bros now I think of that doc they made a couple of years ago.

WeAreTheHeroes · 17/12/2021 20:55

Even this version of Do they know it's Christmas is a SAW production.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 17/12/2021 20:55

Yeah true, both great bands, but l DO NOT like this version if Band Aid.

Palavah · 17/12/2021 20:55

He did work hard for his mediocre pop fodder!

NKOTB were my first album purchase. On cassette of course, played on one of those flat rectangular tape players (that could also run a BBC micro tape programme).

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 17/12/2021 20:56

That Bros DocGrin kind of watched it in awe and horror.

Classica · 17/12/2021 20:56

Yeah, the over-produced tinny sound is unmistakable!
WeAreTheHeroes · 17/12/2021 20:57

I still have Hangin' Tough on 12".

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 17/12/2021 20:57

And spoilt by Cliff Richard.

Builtthiscityonsausagerolls · 17/12/2021 20:58

Well that was fun
But if anyone criticises todays music for being over processed, commercial, crap I know where to point them!

That doc was amazing!

Your woman in Pump Up The Jam, she was actually gender neutral wasn't she? I mean consciously without saying it? She was v cool anyway.

Builtthiscityonsausagerolls · 17/12/2021 20:59

I had their 'rare' first album Grin I also still listen to their Christmas album every year. It's fantastic!

I’m not sure ‘amazing’ is the word I’d useGrin

Surreal or bizarre maybe?
